She used to do my head in. Would come across as smug and condescending in every discussion. It’s like she had all the answers to life’s problems.

She was banned eventually for something. Not sure what for though.

More political threads in Broadcasting WTFH

Rule abiding forum members lost the war when the International Space Station thread was allowed in there, absolutely nothing to do with broadcasting, but at least that was harmless and wholesome from what I can tell.

The mods don't give a fuck what rules are flaunted if a poster is a) one they value because they'll have some kind of so-called margnialised characterisitic and b) expressing the correct political views.

I miss when DS was a geekier site and the Broadcasting forum was full of anoraks who talked about the ins and outs of aspect ratios and digital on screen graphics and stuff. You need to avoid anything to to with the BBC because of the fanboy nutters but otherwise the more toxic threads were kept to General Discussion and Politics boards, those being closed has made a mess.

I don't know how Hearst are happy to keep the forum going. Their mods are corrupt as fuck and it can't make them much money as a business venture these days.

Absolutely it's worse. AVF had a moderator who was constantly posting antisemitic stuff. There was also allegedly a direct intervention from Hope not Hate over the amount of antisemitism, which is why Stuart temporarily closed that thread in order to clean it up.

I’m Jewish and always thought AVF was dodgy so I never went on it. I guess I have a sixth sense. It’s like gaydar but bad.

Whilst it’s sad that she died, Ebonyhamster could be frustrating. I believe she was morbidly obese and had other health issues, people would give her advice about healthy living and whatnot.

You could literally write a ten paragraph guide to her and she would just reply with “No”.

What actually killed her?

There was a member who absolutely hated LostPigeo n, iirc called LP Robinson or something like that. Everytime LostPigeon would post, LP Robinson would come along, trashing him.

Plot twist: LostPigeon and LP Robinson were the same bloke!

The truth came out when LostPigeon once wrote a lengthy post exactly in the style of LP Robinson, soon after posting it realized he’d done so from the wrong account, and edited it quickly just at the end to add “coo”. Too late, he was busted

Does anyone remember Robert, who'd spam the DS advice forum all the time bitching about how awful his life was and how much he hated his sister because she had it so easy? He went as far as to wish she'd have a disabled child so she'd experience some hardship for a change, he was hideous. I think a lot of his threads got deleted and he may have been banned in the end, but this is the kind of oddball that DS mods let drive stable, decent posters away from the boards.

There was another charmer called kontemplation who'd go on about pissing in bottles and would threaten suicide if anyone tried to ban him.

DS has long been a cesspool in one way or another. I don't get why Hearst would want to actively court the sickos out there but apparently they do!

The Big Brother forum during BB7 was brutal.

It was calmer during BB8, with the majority of users unified in the collective hatred of Carole and the way the highlights show falsified her true behaviour and protected her!

Wasn't there a really long running thread that went on for literally years where a forum member asked if how 'real' a couple's relationship was could be proven in a court of law?

I never watched BB much at all so only peeked into the forum a few times but I remember that thread.

There was an American woman who used to sign off her posts and it would do everyone’s head in. She was generally very placid, but could get quite shirty if she felt you were mocking Christianity.

That's so interesting. I was in that court thread for a long time, the posters defending "JJJ" were actually scary

It was obvious Josie was there to get her face out there and John James went on to do Love Island so wanted to launch his career.

There was not one bit of romantic body language and they hid under a duvet for weeks hide from the camera but their fan base thought it was loves young dream

I was sent horrid private messages from some of the more errrrrr ardent ones!

John James had a stop and quit Love Island Australia because no one wanted to couple up with him

Derek SH (a member who clearly suffers from Farage Derangement Syndrome) got involved after the Mod removed the fake news Twitter link. I don't think he was expecting this reply. It makes a pleasant change to see something like this. Hopefully the mods don't end up banning MikeK....

I remember a thread in the Advice section from a College - age teenage girl who's friend was ignoring her. She went on DS for advice and over the course of a few days, this thread descended into the OP getting worked up that her friend was still ignoring her and other posters were trying there best to help but advice was falling on death ears.
