Dies anyone remember the Oscar Pistorious threads? I was heavily involved arguing he was guilty and the drama through the trial etc

Yep that’s what I had the biggest problem with overall - the hypocrisy. iirc there was a sticky on the politics forum written by the site owner, basically saying to keep it respectful, respect each others viewpoints, etc, yet he himself doesn’t practice what he preaches. Either welcome discussions with people with opposing viewpoints or don’t - just be honest about it!

But it’s more like “all opinions are welcome…as long as they’re the same as ours”. Fuck that.

Yep, plus the ignoring of the rules when it came to antisemitism.

Posts like "Israeli's are the undisputed champions of child murdering" or "zionists barely qualify as Jews" clearly breach the rule "must not submit libellous, insulting, antagonistic, racist, misogynistic, prejudiced, aggressive or otherwise abusive content to or about any individual, group or organisation."

Yet for some reason reports about these posts and many others were routinely rejected. Which is of course a double standard (which is itself antisemitic).

Especially when you consider how quick the mods and Stuart himself are to see racism in posts where none exists.

Another AVF classic from someone clearly suffering from acute Trump Derangement Syndrome, following news about Trump's state visit to UK in September. It's been posted in the New Labour Government thread, so I assume the member must be banned from the Trump threads....

Does anyone remember Ryan Abbott... a more recent poster. He posted quite a lot. He then changed his username to something more anonymous, before disappearing one day.
He was gay and always talking about the celebs and soap stars he fancied. He had a thing for Martin Fowler off EastEnders.
He used to post photos of himself too.
He seemed to have a troubled life, I think he was a carer for his mum who suffered from depression, and they had up sticks and move away after he was held at knifepoint by a neighbour.

There was also that person on the General Discussion.. Enzo something...? who would asks dull questions all the time such as "which toilet roll do you buy?". I thought he was harmless, but a lot of other posters were horrible to him.

There seems to be a lot of miserable old men on the Broadcasting and Radio/Podcast sub forums.

There's a few strange people on the Soap forums.
Mo Mouse? Always talking about their wife/partner called Geraldine? Is Geraldine a figment of their imagination?
Purves Grundy is pretty funny.
JB is an odd one... had a thing for Lauren from EastEnders and called her "My Lauren".

The guy that said Jay in EastEnders should be gang raped.
Pmson21 who said that Roy and Barry Evans should've been lovers, rather than father and son.
There was a person who made a thread a while ago calling everyone on the forum cunts, and seemed to target Scrabbler in particular for being cliquey.

There are two posters I can think of who have a high post count, but don't say much of substances. They usually just comment things like "definitely" and "totally agree". Don't want to name them incase they have some vulnerabilities.

I think I've said about that before, maybe... I know I've never been able to forget it. Then DS deleting the most sickening of their posts and protecting them, possibly from themselves as well as the other FMs.

There was Grand Dizzy, who was very opinionated but really showed his true colours in a thread about catcalling. He confessed to seeing "unattractive" women in the street, riding up slowly behind them on his bike and whistling, but "quietly" apparently. He argued that he was trying to boost their self-confidence or something, and got really angry with the majority who told him he was a creep.

Who was the girl from Bradford who had a child with an Asian man? He was in an arranged marriage, and was effectively living a double life. His family didn‘t know of her or the child’s existence. She would never listen when people would tell her she was being used and he was never going to leave his wife for her.

Was that Emma something? Had a baby boy by a British Pakistani? If it’s the same woman, I had to tell her that it was not appropriate to call her kid ‘little p*ki’ as an affectionate pet name. She was not a horrible person (well, going by her posts anyway), just naive.

She’s probably a lot wiser now, as many years have passed. Sadly she learned the hard way. I had many a female friend who also had kids with terrible guys who they thought would stick around, and then reality kicked in.

They are piling on Rusty again in the Trump thread for not going along with the forum mantra that America has fallen and is now a dictatorship. This is the stand out from SloppyBob who probably wants Rusty eliminated from the "discussion"...

I've discussed matters politely and courteously, where appropriate I've provided links to respected well qualified experts and professionals and I've shared the basis for my own personal direct experiences and formal education on the matter.

Having a different opinion on something isn't trolling.

Does anyone remember Monalisa from the DS soap forum? Absolute Fruit loop, didn‘t work and seemed to spend most of her time flying back and to from Belfast to London to stalk the cast of Eastenders. She was eventually banned but the fruit loopery continued on Twitter. I seem to remember she did something really awful but can’t remember what it was.

She was a nasty piece of work. Acted all innocent but could savage anyone she wanted if she was riled enough. Most had caught onto her in the long run. Didn't she have a bizarre obsession with Phil and Shirley on EE? All round nuttiness with that poster.

I wasn’t aware of those posts (probably cos I barely visited the politics section) - how disgusting! And again, the hypocrisy. I’m getting deja vu of DS.

It’s a joke really, cos every now and again several AVF members would bring up Tattle and act morally superior about it, with the “let’s not stoop to Tattle levels”-type nonsense, when their forum has plenty of blatant racist/classist/xenophobic bile floating around.

Those posts barely scratch the surface.

It was a moderator, Dr No, who was posting a lot of the typical antisemitic conspiracy tropes.

But because "thou shalt not question a moderator" is one of the sites commandments, then arguably he was more protected from complaints and reports than Jews! Again, that's a blatantly antisemitic standard

Interestingly, once the site started getting outside attention from advertisers and Hope Not Hate then DrNo lost his moderator status and hasn't posted since Feb 2024.....

Does anyone remember Skolastyka? She was half Russian, quite young and liked older men, iirc. She was very sharp and good with witty comebacks. I'd be really sad if I found out she wasn't something like the person she claimed she was.

I remember a particular sad story on DS by a woman who had a kid with an Asian bloke. By the way she was describing it, the relationship sounded abusive and one sided.

I sometimes wonder how things turned out.

Her name was Em if we were are talking about the same person. She lived in Bradford and had a son with an Asian man who already had a wife, she knew she was his side piece and he was never going to leave his wife or her and their son but he was actively involved in their lives. All his family knew of her and the child’s existence and turned a blind eye to it, she seemed happy with the set up but it didn’t seem much of a way to live.
