Also the massive meltdown when they introduced reactions. People could not deal with getting a thumbs down reaction and there was a huge thread of posters crying about being bullied by the big blue thumbs, so in the end they got rid of all of the reactions except the ‘like’ one. Sad bastards 😂
The one thing I will say in defence of disliking reactions is you got a load of bottom feeders "laughing" at really nasty things, like children dying in a house fire or stuff like that.

The reaction buttons were "abused" but even then the tantrums about the buttons even existing was mental.

I recall someone being banned simply for replying "I agree" when someone said they did not think JK Rowling was transphobic. I can't remember who but what utter lunacy.
Me (although 8 got banned in total on that thread so might have been one of the other 7, but that’s exactly what I got banned for after 11 years).

Digital Spy has been having ‘Bad Gateway’ or ‘Vanilla’ loading issues for the best part of a week now, it’s really running slow

You’d think they’d put a locked post at the top of the page to acknowledge the issue

There was a poster in the talent show threads, Jeff somebody, always came across as a bit simple and supported whichever young, mixed race Woman was in the show. I got numerous warnings for pointing his bias out.

One user I couldn’t stand was CornishPiskie.

Smug and up themselves with a superior attitude.

Eventually got banned.

Goonst? Always claimed to be a teen girl with mental health issues, but was generally believed to be someone much older, possibly a man.
I’d always believed Goonst to be real, but I could understand why some people were doubtful.

Goonst did prove herself to be real after a few people told her on a thread or mentioned on a thread that she was probably a 20 stone middle aged man or something.

She uploaded a short video of herself (and this was years and years before the days of filtering apps and all of that ) mentioning her username and and digital spy and that she was real. And it matched the photos she’d uploaded of herself on DS during the years. The same girl. Young lass from Scotland. I liked her, she did overshare some things given her very young age joining the site but generally her posts were good and she was mature for her age. I think she was 17 in her video that she uploaded.

I think she left DS fairly soon after.

Was it Bulletguy who was banned for saying that Trans men should not be using Women's toilets ? I remember he was half English/Chinese and would talk about his heritage.
I thought it was Pumping Iron who got banned for saying “I agree with her” (referencing JK Rowling, commenting on that same subject you mentioned) and got banned (I got a week suspension for the same)

I can’t find it now but I remember when Tanya1982 first started to take over the forum and I pointed out that in the few months they had joined they had reported more posts from other users posts than the actual number of posts they had posted themselves. Dunno if a mod, but if not, definite a friend of one (or they are but on a different account)

Does anyone remember the thread by the Woman who worked at a Train station ? She fell in love with a regular passenger and wanted to get his number. It was actually pretty sad and you can tell she was desperately lonely.

Edit - I changed my post due to Magwitch saying the same thing.

I remember ForestChav, actual pdfile with fetishes for schoolboys in trainers or something like that.

There were so many wronguns on there who openly boasted of their warped leanings. DS became something of a haven for these freaks in the last days of the general discussion/politics forums. Never understood why Hearst seemed to court such people while banning anyone normal!
Fairy Princess talking about the time being turned on when he shat and pissed himself in a nappy he was wearing in a playground full of kids. And sycophants tripping over themselves to defend his posts as being not that weird at all when others rightly pointed out how disgusting that was…

FairyPrincess admitted to having a nappy fetish and getting excited when wearing/filling one near a playground, IIRC. They linked it to how their upbringing issues. They are trans and hide behind that for moderator protection - the nappy post got deleted and everyone acted like it had never happened aside from a few posters. It was in a thread about someone who got fired for work for wearing nappies, fetish content on social media and refusing to use a loo, I think.

FP was creepy to me long before that, they've always radiated bad vibes, but DS truly became a haven for the disturbed and dangerous in that moment.

Anyone remember ForestChav and his freaky fetish? I think it was plimsoles and school uniforms on young boys. DS has for some reason always protected these people.
I remember that vile Fairy person and the nappy wetting fetish. Disgusting. Then that same person joined AVF and made posts complaining about people being prejudiced towards him. Whether he meant online or in real life I dunno, but my thoughts were that someone who likes pissing themselves in front of children (or anyone, for that matter) deserves every type of ‘prejudice’ aimed at them.

I understand what you are saying, but given how woefully low the numbers of cases of rape and sexual assault actually going to trial are I am always delighted when they do and I make no apology for that. And, come on, who doesn’t believe that Russell Brand isn’t a massive wrong un?
You raise a fair point re the difficulty of proving guilt in what are largely "he said, she said" cases - however, the point @bladerunner is highlighting is the double standards on display. If you truly believe in the presumption if innocence, right to a fair trial etc then you extend those values to everyone, even those with whom you are ideologically opposed.

At the end of the day,

DS is a load of BS.
AVF is very much WTF!

Neither forum serve a useful purpose anymore.

Both are run by idiots for idiots.

Whilst there are some good people on both forums, they are heavily outnumbered by the idiotic element.

Some have the cheek to call Tattle 'toxic'. They clearly haven't been on DS and AVF then!

Where 'toxic' moderation, and members rule the roost. At least here there is a wide range of opinions allowed, and you aren't hounded out, or endlessly reported for having opposing opinions - as happens on both DS and AVF.

Which is luckily why many of the 'toxic' element of both forums aren't on here. They wouldn't be able to get away with their shenanigans here.

Yes, There was a big drama in the Dogs Sleeping forum when Keyser Soze had some kind of online relationship type thing with another poster who I wont name. She came on there and eviscerated him for his behaviour quite a few times.

Whether it was deserved or not I couldn't say but it was cringe worthy at the time.
I remember this saga. KS had been messaging with her for a while but there was no relationship, just friendly, on her part at least. She then started an actual relationship with another poster (gd-something, I think). They met up and started dating. KS lost his shit and apparently sent her some very nasty messages and started following both of them around online, hassling them. It went on for months.

He was a real creep.

Is Qwertygirl still posting? She was obviously a fantasist, had a long-running series of threads detailing the sudden death of her much older, Asian husband, who apparently tweaked her nipple as he passed. All of her stories just felt wrong. Too many details that didn't make sense, or were anachronistic or stuff that doesn't happen in the UK.

Stuart Wright has started a thread on AVF asking for feedback on the trophy points system and whether it encourages people to engage more. Apparently you can become an "outstanding member" if you have a high post count. I'm not sure he was expecting 70% to vote NO and to get some critical replies like those below. Perhaps Stuart might finally start to realise that the Politics section is destroying AVF's reputation. Incidentally, two of the "outstanding members", namely RichP and Weavie, are both now banned from posting in the Politics section. How ironic! :ROFLMAO:

Steve 356 said:
The only Outstanding Members I see on here are the ones in the Politics section that post endless toxic posts. Not sure i've ever seen that rating on any member that contributes only to the AV side of things.

Yeah I am with @Steve356

Was fun when I started here 15 years ago helping and getting tagged. Then some plonker :) moved the goal posts and I lost interest helping in the AV part of the forum.

I will carry on helping out but you wont be getting another 15 years from me while that vile politics forum remains.

Yet another Bob said:

I voted NO

They might have more bearing if they were related to AV subject posts rather than being a prolific visitor to the Lifestyle forums.

I come here every day for informed information on AV and media related matters but often find it difficult to weed any out, in the what's new guide, as a large proportion appear to be about the political views of people one would certainly steer clear of socially.

Yep, he was young, with long brown hair which he wore in a ponytail. Quite a high, nasal voice. Southern UK accent.
His other account was LP Robinson, which may or may not have been the same person who started loads of arguments about immigration and other random stuff using the same username, but spelled differently. The original LP Robinson was a reincarnation of JemimaPudleduck, who was similar but more unhinged and got banned, I think.
Indeed it was. He used to create arguments with himself as 'Lost Pidgeon and LP Robinson'' and got rumbled one day when he forgot to sign out of one account.

That John James and Josie thread was incredible. Towards the end there was a poster who literally just talked to herself for years.
The original parasocial nutcases. Josie was awful, but she was an ordinary looking, overweight woman who managed to ‘pull’ the house hottie and a lot of women projected onto her. It was glaringly obvious to everyone else he wasn’t all that into her and in fact was probably deep in the closet but there was no reasoning. I had so many rows with them.

The BB forum was brilliant. So many slightly misogynistic weirdos like Veri and Mactowin who’d accuse all female viewers of being ‘bitter jealous old hags’ when a female housemate they fancied would get evicted.

The politics forum was appalling for bulliying... though only one side was sanctioned by the mods, of course. If you fought back, stood up for youself, disagreed, you got banned.

It's a better message board without those subforums but I'm really surprised it's still going at all. It can't make much money. I don't think you can even register there anymore.

Tanya1982 was a secret mod, I am convinced and always will be!
Or if she wasn't, there were heavy suspicions that she(?) knew them, no doubt from any number of interesting incidents of the elaborately described hybrid 'carry on/adventures of/lady of the house' lifestyle that was apparently completely real.
