I went to the Birmingham LV yesterday and asked about whether they had any of the new season still in stock (it was only released Friday). She practically scoffed at the fact I had the audacity to ask. Quite frustrating considering I had tried to reach out to preorder and have a large purchase history.

What is going on with all the price increases?🤯 the cost of living is going up with a bang. How on earth do they expect people to keep up? Obviously they have their target audience that will continue to purchase no matter the price increase. I love Dior products I’m a big fan and was going to buy some new sandals next weekend when we go shopping for my birthday but probably won’t now I don’t at all mind spending money on high end products I love them but there’s got to be a point with these price increases where you just Think ‘wtf’🤯.

I think I’m done with Chanel. Tried to purchase an item last week through the Manchester boutique. The SA who answered the store’s phone texted me some photos. After asking to purchase she decides to tell me I need a purchase record with that specific store!? I don’t really understand why. I’ve purchased from pretty much every Chanel in the country, and have received mail order from most of the stores too. Just too many hurdles now to get an overpriced item.

When I see influencers with gifted bags from certain brands that have all the same styling it turns me away if I’m being honest. Everything seems so unnatural and fabricated. It’s gets boring the same post one after the other. I like it when people buy the bag because the genuinely love it and they style it in their own unique way. That’s what makes me want to buy the bag.

Hii everyone need your help. I'm really interested in getting a new piece of jewellery (ring or necklace) and like the idea of the standard cartier love ring/ juste un clou but EVERYONE has one which puts me right off. Are there any other suggestions anyone has? Just a girl in my late twenties wanting to treat myself 🥲🥲
Hi there, what a beautiful dilemma to be in! Congrats on deciding to treat yourself. I am delighted for you!

Would you consider calling to your local silversmith- goldsmith and having something bespoke made for yourself? I’m currently having an old diamond ring re-set as a pendant by a goldsmith in my locality and am in awe at the range of jewellery he has in stock in his small showrooms which he has made himself. Also, his prices are really competitive as he doesn’t have some of the massive overheads that retail stores have. You’d definitely get more bang for your buck from the point of view of the amount of gold and size of diamond (if it’s the Cartier Love ring you’re thinking of!). You could show him/her a photo of the pieces you like and make suggestions as to how you’d personalise it specifically to your own taste. Maybe instead of “Cartier” you could inscribe a different word-phrase. And you could possibly even bring along some gold jewellery you might be happy to melt down to incorporate into your chosen product. I’m thinking of asking the same goldsmith to melt down broken bits and pieces of gold jewellery I have lying around at home and asking him to make me a simple gold bangle too!

Don’t get me wrong…I simply love all kinds of jewellery and the designer brands (Gucci have stunning Fine Jewellery on their website) , but the premium being charged for the pleasure of the brand’s logo being stamped somewhere can be a bit galling! I think supporting local craftspeople can be really satisfying & this way you will have something unique! Trinny (of Trinny & Susanne fame!) said at one stage that she dislikes carrying blatantly logo-ed designer bags because she doesn’t want to be a walking billboard for any brand! Mind you, she has a fine collection of designer everything to her name! Her words come to mind when seeing really expensive bags that really have nothing more going for them than the fact that the logo is so big everyone knows you can afford to buy it! …. Maybe this is my way of coping with not being able to afford the mega-buck prices being charged for high end designer bags these days. I still like to admire them from afar and love to hear about all your past and future purchases!

Meanwhile, wishing you luck with your decision @Alzzzf and do please keep us posted!
Thanks gang!

I got a cartier but I went with a 1895 rose gold wedding band with the writing and diamond. I absolutely love it ❤
This ring is truly stunning. I can see why you love it so much!

I saw some shop assistants telling a new guy not to serve some travellers in Louboutin on Mount Street once. They literally had handfuls of cash, it was like pretty woman 😢.
Its not funny, but I saw some travellers try to buy a range with cash and the police were called. They threw a chair through the showroom window. I'll never forget it. When I went back the SA was telling me he had to hoover his hair to remove shards of glass.

It’s absolute madness 🤯. Anyone just seen dietpradas new insta post?🤣 Chanel wants to be Hermes so bad. So true!!
So true and they just aren’t Hermes! After my £4k bag broke do you think I’m going to be keen to spend double? Nope. They didn’t even let me know my bag was ready, I had to contact them and they said we sent you an email this morning, half an hour later the email came through 🙄 and this was a week after when they told me it should have been ready.

Do you think insta culture has now backfired? They are making more in sales but, not from the people they want to ‘represent’ their brand. Like Burberry and Danniella Westbrook
Yes.

Sorry I usually just lurk but I’m a sales assistant in a premium store and the way my colleagues talk about other customers before deciding if to approach / help is disgusting. Like you say we are only sales assistants most of us can’t afford the products so I don’t understand where the entitled attitude comes from.
Oh I’ve actually overheard two Chanel sas discussing some travellers before i couldn’t believe it. I think it’s so bad when majority of people work really hard for special purchases all the research into bags and then all the thinking about then to get treated like shit is just disgusting. It is no wonder majority of people do just buy online. Without the paying customers going into the shops/concessions they would be jobless.

I hate the fact that I love Chanel 😭

the classic flap is my favourite bag and I so desperately wanted a small…but it’s just crazy. It’s not even the price anymore, it’s the frequency of the price increases and the lack of respect Chanel have for their customers, as seen through their quality

Ive never bought from Hermes before, I only really like the lady Dior from Dior…all the other designers don’t really speak to me the way Chanel did 😭

cheers Chanel 🥲

So guys I need some positive manifesting from you ☺
Flew from Paris CDG and popped into Chanel to see what they had. Cut a long story short the Boy bag is £700 cheaper there but they didn’t have it in stock! The SA has taken my details for when I fly back through so I’m keeping everything crossed that they have one for me. I have her on WhatsApp now and I keep checking my phone! I’m due a bonus so would love to treat myself.

These stories are so sad, what right do these SA's have to treat anyone badly? You work here love, you're not Christian Louboutin himself!

The reality TV/ Z list celebs have really ruined a lot of things for me. Cartier, Chanel, LV & YSL are all everywhere. Even Hermes (tbh I was never a huge huge fan) has become off-putting as so many youtubers/instagrammers are getting the Birkins and Kellys. It's really hard to be original with purchases. But what can we do? It's not going to change.

FYI - Amex has an offer with Selfridges. Spend £250 and get £50 back
