I've read a couple of his books and I know they are for kids but they are a bit tit IMO.

Just walked past my local Tesco charity book stand (you can help yourself and donate what you can etc):
3 of his books there, never seen any before and I look every time I go. Seeing as the book aisle in this Tesco is full of his stuff - freebies would usually be snapped up. Just shows how things are changing.

I love take that and mainly Robbie. At least in the 1970s one can understand how victims felt they'd never be believed and the culture was such that certain things were deemed more "acceptable" (not that it made anything that happened right), but it beggars belief that in 2022, predatory behaviour is still covered up.
Make me sick to think of how much my children, and myself, liked his books, when they were younger. I spent a fortune on them. And now I hear he probably didn't even write them. Although maybe it's just as well. He got the bloody money for them though! Hope the ghostwriter name is/are made public some day so they can get the credit.

I had some memory he dated Sophie Dahl. There are some odd old stories about the Dahl family, especially Roald's predilections, and I don't mean his antisemitism.
Sounds like the awful physical comedy of Michael (Ive got a dead grape man in my swimming pool) Barrymore, he used to love humping random people on tv in front of us all. I now want to vomit thinking what we have been watching......
and seeing as one main ride is closed next season and duel is being reworked, but they could easy rename the area .the area is tit anyway.
I had the same thought too. He, or his ghostwriter as has been rumoured, have tried to write like Dahl. But with none of the qualities that made Roald such a great writer.

It was always funny I thought, how these public figures suddenly became literary geniuses when they really just had a good agent and some poor old ghostwriter. Madonna was another. None of them were interested in children or books until the money starts running out. Must be a good money making racket.He doesnt even write them himself!!
Let's not talk about Meghan Markle's attempt at children's literature. That was one example that definitely wasn't ghostwritten (but should have been).
It annoys me because there are so many better children’s authors out there. Jaqueline Wilson, Lauren Child, Julia Donaldson, Michael Morpurgo who wrote War Horse. I don’t know why he gets so much acclaim?
