The second season was ordered before the first aired so hopefully the wait won't be too long. I was gutted to discover I'd watched it already after seeing the recommendations here. I watch so many shows of this ilk that I forget the rifles sometimes.

That's why I started to make a list of what I have watched, what season I'm up to, because it does get confusing!

Doesn't help that so many shows cover the same crimes 🥱 It's got to the point where I can actually recognise the case from a thumbnail picture. Especially if it's a house. That's what I remember - houses

I think that's why I enjoyed Crime in Progress so much - I didn't know any of the case it featured.

I went in cautiously and even then I switched it off after a couple of minutes, as I could see her gasping in the attention and her demeanour was off-putting. From what I recall of Vanishing Cyclist, she wasn't 100% cooperative of the investigation and was fucking around with the police at some point. I don't know if that made it into the Netflix one.

In the Netflix show the story behind being uncooperative was explained as her having a breakdown and using drugs/alcohol due to the stress. Along with lack of police support .

I did quite like Chad Franke’s jump scare Instagram post when this popped up casually on his Netflix. I also listened to a podcast interview with him recently and have read Shari’s book. As horrendous as this whole story is, I do find it really interesting and it is good to see these two reclaiming their narrative, choosing when to be public & private and advocating for children who are forced to grow up in a ‘vlogging’ family.

Yes it’s a separate subscription to crime and investigation on prime but you should initially get a free month’s trial and not be charged, just make sure you cancel before the end of the free month.
That’s what I did to watch it and I can’t recommend this series enough. It’s one of the best I’ve ever seen.

I've watched a Dateline about the case. She's a fucking nutjob!

The lengths this woman went to are extreme to say the very least.

when I first started watching this I assumed the husband must have murdered her . Discovering that she was behind it all was shocking. I also think she has some kind munchausens by proxy going off making the kids ill by putting alcohol bags around their neck on the daily. Both those kids are going to grow up with some serious issues .
I can’t understand why anyone would want to injure themselves to that extent because some of those injuries were horrific .

The ex boyfriend who helped her is also very strange . Why anyone would want to help to hurt someone they apparently cared about is anyone’s guess . Very odd.

The 'american murder' strand on netflix is very good. I watched the documentaries on Gabby Petito, Shannon Watts and Laci Peterson and they were really well done!

Agree, I thought the Gabby and Laci ones were good too ..... I think I've missed the Shannon Watts one for some reason, so I'll catch up with that one

No but I have watched a couple of 48 Hours about the case though. That was enough. I don't get the fascination with it to be honest

I found it interesting. I wasn't aware it had been covered in other places. I've never watched 48 hours .

It's season 8 and it's the two that were on last Thursday in the USA - maybe episodes 5 & 6 or 7 & 8. I've lost track, sorry - they are showing two episodes a week. Names of the episodes were High Speed Driver or Tragic Accident? and Arson Death or Family Tragedy?
