Has anyone tried selling their creations on Etsy? I did. The stuff I put in my shop was well worth the modest prices, I think. I got barely any views, never mind sales, despite carefully chosen tags etc.. So, about 20 quid DOWN, I pulled down the shutters. The only winner here was Etsy, and I'm disgusted. I'm bringing my creations to the local charity shop, and they are welcome to any money they make from them. Sod Etsy.

I haven't, but I've heard that Etsy isn't really worth the effort a few times now. I haven't the confidence to sell at the moment but there are two shops in my local town that rent shelf space out to local crafters. I'd love to be brave enough to apply for one!
Some more Christmas crafting... Cards for my nearest and dearest and a decoration for me! I've been playing around with washi tape and resin recently and finally getting the hang of it. The hearts are wood, covered with washi tape and resin and detach from the card to make a tree decoration for next year!

I would feel really loved if someone sent me such a special card that had so much effort put into it.
I list some of my hand made crafts on Etsy but they don't get much traffic plus Etsy fees are ridiculous. I also list them on eBay and Vinted and have more success with these than Etsy. At least Vinted and eBay don't charge you an insertion fee.
How do you find Vinted for selling crafts? I'd read that you're technically not supposed to but I did wonder about giving it a try, especially as my crafts are all very different and I don't personalise, which I think is something they don't allow? My OH keeps nagging me to try ebay too but I'm sceptical that it'll get much traffic... I don't think to look on ebay for that sort of thing.
My main crafts are hand knitting and I do some diamond art too. My hand knits sell better than diamond art work. I have sold a few on Vinted but eBay is my most successful. I do think eBay is probably the best for traffic. Good luck.
I have treated myself to a blocking board and a copy of The Granny Square Card deck, and have slowly started working through the cards.
I feel like it is getting me to really ' level up' my crochet skills. Each card gives you the pattern for a different square. The cards are numbered with the squares becoming more complex as they go. It has helped me slowly build up my confidence about what I can do, and my crochet is getting more and more neat and tidy with each square.
I highly recommend the card deck, and i might get the other decks if I am still enjoying it when I have gone through the entire deck.

It is worth it.
I thought it would struggle with the cards as they show the patterns as a chart, and i had never used a chart before.
However I have found them really easy to read, and much easier than a written pattern. I found it really helpful for identifying which stitch from row below i should be going into. If i was not sure, I would just hold my square up next to the card and it would become clear.

How are we getting on with our early spring/late winter craft projects?
I currently have 36 granny squares which are completed and joined together, and around 10 more that need finishing off before joining.
I have enjoyed this project a lot, but i am at the stage when I want it to be nearly done and it isn't anywhere close. I think it is because it looked like lots of squares when stacked on the blocking board, but it didn't look ' big' once I had actually put them together.
I am going to work on finishing up a shawl for next few days, to give myself a little break before getting back to the squares. It is nice not to be weaving in ends all the time.

I was on a roll with a knit sock for a couple of weeks. I’ve also been doing some cross stitching. But then I lost a close family member and I’ve not done much crafting since. Hoping to resolve that this weekend.

This morning I looked at a couple of Crochet mags in the supermarket, tempted to give crochet a go - have some wool from making pom poms. Would it be easier to watch an online YT tutorial?
I need to stitch something for a friend that has recently had a baby, 2 wedding stitched cards for the summer, and to get started on some Xmas decs. No pressure

...xWelcome! Some people learn better from YouTube. Bella coco is quite good, I can’t think of any others. Just one thing to watch out for when/if you do start crocheting, US and UK use different crochet terms for the stitches. It trips a lot of folk up.I found this thread a while back and meant to post.. I'd definitely recommend Bella Coco for crochet tutorials - I tried for years and couldn't get the hang of it until I tried her videos.
I'm about to start a granny square blanket that I've found a pattern for, but I'm feeling a bit discouraged as I keep having to look up various stitches to clarify exactly what they are. I know I can do a double, treble, half treble, but if I tried to show you I couldn't guarantee I'd be doing the one I told you I was!

Once you get the hang of it it is very easy to convert them. If single crochet (SC) is mentioned anywhere it is US terms as it doesnt exist in UK terms. SC is referred to double crochet in UK terms. A US double is a UK treble. It is like the UK is one higher than US if that makes sense.I didn't realise how different crochet terms were between the US and UK! I personally think the US ones make more sense but it probably just depends on which ones you learn with.
