I don’t think it’s safe enough yet so have said no to school for next week. I said that depending how the infection rate goes I may look to send back before the end of the school year but I think that’s unlikely at the moment.
Yes bit South Korea not taking any chances and their online education great they even delivered free laptops and internet to poorer kids.

I think people are judgemental and opinionated about school returning whatever you decide some one has opposite opinion.
A scientist on sky news said school A returning to Europe hasent caused spikes.
But I hear Germany r rate is going up.
Our news is not really telling us what's going in in Europe right now or other countries.
For me June feels too soon.
I don't judge keyworkers/ vunerable kids or SEN attending I just don't think wider school should be open and year groups they picked.
I would prefer giving poorer families more support online maybe having socially distanced support ie community support worker visits their garden. They maybe supply worksheets and books.
Make the support more targeted.
In fed up comparisons with Denmark we nothing like Denmark.
I’m Not Ready To Send My Kids Back To School. Not Yet
Of course I want my children back in school. But how can I send them, and their teachers, back to the classroom when we don’t know if it’s safe?

Other countries schools not been back long enough to tell.
Lots countries don't start school until age 7 so no r or year 1 age kids. .
I hate admitting this because I have received backlash personally. I am sending mine in. I believe it’s for the best for them. I have spoken to the school, I’m happy with the measures taking place and I’m happy to get a bit of a routine/new surroundings etc into my children’s lives. I can see how much it has affected them (although appreciate other children deal with things differently)
I know there are many that do not agree but this is a decision I am making for my family and I believe it’s for the best for us.
I feel sad that you’ve received backlash over this. I don’t have children but as I see it there’s no wrong or right here because we are all still learning and the government are saying it’s safe but aren’t enforcing it. I really wish people would be respectful of other people’s decisions. A blatant breach of lockdown rules clearly has a right or wrong aspect to it but the return to schools is very much taking steps in the dark and trying to do your best.
There should be no judgement. You know your children best and trust your judgement in what is best for them in this situation. I’d probably send my boy back in if he didn’t have asthma as I know he misses his friends and is an only child so the social aspect is hard for him. I’m hoping that in a few weeks school has coped will with the changes and the infection rate doesn’t rise then I’ll be with you sending him in.
Things like this always divide people but there shouldn’t be backlash for it. Your decision is based on love for your children
Please just because my veiw is I don't wish to send mine in that in judging your decision.
My neighbours sending their kids back as the mum is factory so keyworker and dad a decorarator they currently relying in a freind who lives opposite to babysit.
I get the fact they need income they not UK nationals.so so unsure what benefits they be entitled too.
My 2 nearest councils are leaving it up to the head teachers to decide.
I think that's right as depending if you live rural or urban school could look very different.
Some schools are brand new builds with large classrooms and wide corridors.
Others are much older with narrow corridors and cramped classrooms even cupboards have been adapted to teach music lessons or one to one support with ta.
Schools also come with varying outdoor space some have multiple entrances and exits others have just 1.
I live in a city and 1 school nearby is 4 form intake 120 a year at least 24 classrooms but not huge amount outdoor space.
My eldest goes to inner city senior school and the adjacent newish primary is new build but no outdoor space they have get coach to green space for pe and they play in the senior school tennis courts.
Seen some schools London have rod top play areas.
The demand for school places has been huge.
My son's school is small village school old house like building Victorian tiny playgrounds plus couple portacabins.
They decided despite tiny amount kids they can't open wider year groups as they don't have enough space to socially distance so not accepting r year 1 or year 6 yet daughters junior school is accepting all year 6s back as they more modern school they only expected have 1 year group back and keyworkers so have the space but they not hugely happy.

I’m not sending mine in, only because I have one who can go and one who can’t. They also go to a very small village school who will struggle to cope so I would rather enable those parent who need to send their kids in to be able to do safely rather than take up space and stress as I can keep mine at home.
We live very close to the school, so I will keep reviewing it. Now they can see 6, we can arrange to meet a few friends in the park at least. They have seen their gran so that helped.
I’m not sure how I feel if they could both go, we are quite rural and there have been no cases in our village and only a handful of cases in the next town. My husband works with 600 other people and they haven’t had any known cases and he’s been coming home as normal and washing his hands. I haven’t been making him decontaminate on the doorstep
Embarrassingly, we ordered a takeaway last night as we are waiting for a slot at the shops next week and husband was back late, bloody arrived as we were all clapping

oh no not at all, and likewise I would never dream to judge. We are all doing what’s right for our families and no one should preach to another.
I’ve had people tell me I’m using my kids as guinea pigs. I appreciate people have their own views and that’s great, just don’t like being made to feel I’m a crap parent for making this decision.
I hope we all get to a point where we are happy and not fearful of making decisions soon x

Just want to have a quick rant cause I'm sick of people judging constantly!! I don't have kids so I wouldn't want to say what I'd do either way but judgement is ridiculous!!
At the end of the day it depends on you as a parent and what is best for child. It's better your child is in school happy than at home struggling and miserable (not saying yours are but I know some kids have really struggled from the lack of socialising)
Also it depends on the cases in your area. We're really low on cases here so kids wouldn't be at huge risk going back.
The idea of guinea pigs is just stupid. Everyone is a guinea pig really. No one knows what'll happen cause we've never dealt with this virus before. The people going shopping when non essentials open are guinea pigs. That's just our new way of life atm

Not a parent myself but my nieces aren’t in the school years going back and my sister wishes they were. The youngest has turned into a different child, she needs routine and an authority figure. She’s hardly been sent home any homework so the only stimulation she gets is screaming at my sister until they both cry.

Regarding Christmas some online shops stock is sold out now so can you imagine at Christmas there will be nothing left online.

It’s going to be Xmas panic buying online. I hate Xmas shopping at the best of times. It’ll be vouchers all round apart from my kiddo this year I think!

I moved back to my parents in March so I didn’t have to lockdown alone. I naively thought we’d be lockdown for 3 weeks and then I’ll be back to my own home.. so I only packed for 3 weeks. When i came back it was still winter so all I have with me is winter jumpers tried to do an ASOS order last night but so much is sold out!! Christmas time will be a nightmare for online shopping
