I feel like even if Covid wanted to infect me the sheer amount of alcohol I am consuming and will consume would just kill it right off.

Hahaha I heard the same from a mate the other day except it was something slightly more illegal up his nose

I am in a private hospital, it has 68 beds in total. Earlier this year they acted as overflow for the local NHS hospital. Currently there are 8 patients here spread over 2 wards (it is a very specialist neuro rehab facility). The local NHS have asked this week if they would act as overflow again. I am here, funded by the NHS (as there was no NHS bed that could meet my needs) at almost £9k per week. No that is not a typo.

It is insanity.

Our poor NHS. Nye Bevan will be spinning in his grave.

Another day. Another covid thread. When are they going to abolish isolation? Anyone want to place bets?

It's the thing that will overwhelm the NHS. Not the apparent covid cases. The flu has been miraculously eradicated since 2020 so that won't cause beef anymore

Could be 2022. I think it'll be make or break now they've got the vaccines and antivirals there's not much else can be done.

Aye, but it sounds like the NHS aren’t overwhelmed, the NHS are short staffed from burn out and isolation

Yep 2 of my now former nurse friends quit this year as they'd just had enough. Neither work in anything remotely nursing and are being paid the same to work in retail....

It annoys me that the isolation rules now differ across the UK.

my mum is negative, brother is positive…same house hold he’s isolating away from her she still needs to do 10 days isolation.

my friend is England, she’s positive, her partner is negative. He can go about his business. She can end isolation after 7 days as long as she’s negative and if that’s the case she plans to travel to Scotland to visit her family…where she’d still be in isolation if she still lived here

Controversial for the laugh

the NHS is under pressure because of staff shortages,
How many are faking covid and long covid and “symptoms” for a few days off.

not all hero’s wear capes 🥱 not all NHS staff are angels in disguise

I'm not NHS but I am social care.

Can't lie I've been tempted this week

I love your honesty, I bet the majority of absentee staff are pulling a fast one to be honest,
Long covid will be the new fybomy… whatever it’s called.
Hard to prove you just need to take someone’s word for it.

(I said it was controversial btw )

And here I am slogging like a bellend

I am super achy all over today (definitely not because of the gym).....

And I technically have "long covid" as my taste is still off....

I just have too much guilt to lie

Anyone thinking Europe and our devolved nations have acted too soon? It's clear it's mild so England could have actually played a blinder.
