I’ve moved in with my Dad for however long (husband works in the NHS, don’t want it passed on)

He’s usually stubborn. Today the post came, he opens it, shakes the letter out, puts the envelope in the bin, and then washes his hands. I felt a weird sense of pride that he’s taking this seriously. Unlike my uncle who thinks corona is a climate change cover up.

Just had a knock on the door. Open it and my daughters friend and her dad are stood there asking if she'd like to come for tea and a sleepover. There's just no words

This is why places get locked down!
We all have a responsibility to call out people being absolutely stupid. Safety over friendship, as harsh as it sounds.

Agreed. Now lots of us are at home I wish that we would get an official instruction to stay put. The only danger I guess (and I don’t know this) is that we all stay home, then when we venture out again we catch it, it's not just going to disappear after a lockdown. The great unknown.

What did you say? ( apart from no of course) My daughter was going to a party at a trampoline park on Sunday, this has understandably been cancelled. We then had a message from the mother earlier saying she was having a ‘small’ tea party at home and would my daughter like to go. Stranger still, her husband is a GP .

They are probably only recording cases who died of covid 19 and not 'as a result of'

Just picked up my daughter from school - took a bunch of tulips for her teacher, who burst into tears when my daughter gave her them. It was really sad to see all the children hugging and saying goodbye - my daughter was nearly crying and that almost set me off. So emotional for them all.

Germany seems to only ever record 2 people in a critical condition but keeps having way more than this die a day. It's tricky to compare the figures from country to country as they're all recorded differently.

Slightly off topic to the current conversation but I had to take a neighbour to Tesco.
I’m aware I’m becoming a bit of a representative here

as you walk in there are tables set out with wipes, paper towels and spray bottles to allow you to clean your own basket handle, disposable gloves are given to everyone before entering and need to be worn by everyone.....
You can’t go near the tills, they take your trolley/basket at the first line and pass it back to you at the second line.

its fucking bizarre
It feels like every few days it gets more extreme (obviously a good thing but scary all the same)

I have no idea, the process is still the same here, you call your GP and they make it happen.
I had my test this morning - They came to the house, same as my husbands one.

This isn’t a time when you can be like that and I think a lot of people our age are really about to find that out the hard way. We all need to respect the rules. I think the army should be on the streets if people don’t.

My children are 23 and 20 and thankfully they have taken it very seriously.
They nearly lost their father 3 years ago which sadly, like you, changed their perspective on life.
They know they won’t be socialising any time soon. My youngest is home from uni for the next 6 months so he will have a lot of time on his hands. We’ve decided that we will both work on the garden together. He said it will keep him active and fit because he won’t be able to go to the gym.
They are both aware that if their father catches this it could be very serious and if their grandfather gets this it will most likely be fatal.
Unless it could seriously impact their lives, I agree with you, most younger people seem totally oblivious to the seriousness of this virus.

I stood there open mouthed for a bit then told them we are self isolating as I have leukemia and would appreciate people keeping away

I thought the same about Germany. Their numbers look so much more positive. Are they on lock down?

Italy are on lockdown so why are their numbers continuing to rise so rapidly? Is it because the damage was already done and they locked down too late?

Could this be us? Or are we not 'there yet?' - thoughts?
