Why all the Sturgeon hate….all she’s doing is trying to keep the country safe! Better than sitting back, pretending it isn’t happening then having to impose stricter rules as a result. It’s a difficult balance but she’s trying to do something.
Im indifferent to the SNP/Nicola however there are a certain group in society who just dont like her or the SNP. If there were no restrictions at all Im sure these same people would find a way to criticise her for that.

I think shes made good and bad decisions throughout this pandemic. Coming out last week and telling people to cancel nights out without any money to support hospitality. Was a dick move imo. People are relying on these few weeks to see them through Jan/Feb also which they do every year.

On the other hand shes been consistent, messages have been quite clear and concise.

All the keyboard warriors on Twitter couldnt run the country any better 🥴

I know Ive mentioned this before but where I live, have managed face to face with GPs through this, referrals / appointments at hospital ok. Ambulance twice v quickly. A parent has had numerous appoints / visits with specialists about complex things and hasnt waited long at all. I have said this is maybe area/condition dependant but for us as an extended family I cannot fault any care we have had the past 2 years.

She's a control freak and the only thing she wants to do is stop people living joyful lives, much like that other oppressor drakeford, oh, and Boris.

I've seen this whole pandemic as her chance to 'dick swing' and try to show shes better than England and therefore independence is good, its why shes been banging on about independence again for months instead of focusing on the pandemic. Shes destroying scottish hospitality with these 'suggestions' without any financial backing to the industries being hit..

That’s just utter rubbish! It’s not exactly in her interests to make these unpopular decisions, but sitting back and doing nothing is worse.

Yet she announced money to assist businesses yesterday and has asked for more but been told no.

Who is supposed to give her this money? If she wants to impose tighter rules surely its then on her and the scottish government to find the cash?

Im so worried they are going to lockdown and close my kids schools again from January for homeschooling. I really hope they dont as it really affects them.
Plus my job is in a supermarket so i have no chance to stay at home to help them. 🥺

I think Sturgeon is a great and terrible politician.

I think I'd love her if she wasn't part of the SNP - however as someone who's English/Scottish and doesn't really want Scotland going independent (plus thinking it would be a bad idea) I have quite a cynical view of hers and the SNPs actions. I think she often does not do the right thing, but does the performative thing in order to push the case for independence.

Which is part of what she is trying to do. Scottish Government don’t have full control of their own money tho.

I think a lot of people feel the same way. I can’t help but think that for her, it highlights even further why Scotland should have independence then she would have full control over the finances etc! Many probably disagree with that and still don’t want independence.

Im 100% Scottish. Voted no in 2014, havent voted SNP in the past but did vote for them in the Scottish elections for the first time this year. Would usually vote Labour but there was no point this time at all. Voted green on my list seat.

So I think I have quite a non bias POV of her. Too many people are blinded by independence so think she/the SNP can do no wrong but on the other side of the coin people are so blinded by the hatred of the SNP that absolutely everything they do is wrong. Im happy to praise the good (i.e free school meals for all pupils, I know Wales are also doing this now!) but critcise the bad.

Westminster arent any better and seem to be praised as 'doing their best'

Its all a tit show and I am fed the duck up. :(

Westminster are terrible. Everyone who's like "Oh Boris is doing his best tho" is pathetic. Where is that sympathy when it relates to the actual vulnerable people in our society?

I think in order of severity, Boris, Sturgeon and Starmer all are guilty of playing politics with peoples lives around different votes around the pursuit of power. I do wish often that people like Whitty were making the decisions for us so we didn't have the Labour party infighting, Tory backbenchers and Scottish independents all fighting their various ideologies around issues of restrictions and lockdowns and weighing lives vs poll ratrings.

Very telling that the government manages to find the money for endless covid tests, paying peoples wages through lockdowns and millions of vaccines but has left the NHS and other services such as education and social care to struggle on bare bones for years to the point where a relatively mild virus pushes things to the brink of collapse.

Just shows that when push comes to shove they can find the money, they just don’t want to put it where it’s truly needed so that society as a whole can benefit and thrive. I’m dreading another decade or more of austerity, tax increases and cuts to vital services whilst the rich carry on with life unaffected. Everything feels so tit right now.
I am sorry that you feel tit right now, but please don't class Covid as "a relatively mild virus" after its killed over 146,000 people in the UK alone, left many suffering with long Covid and many families have lost a loved one or more.

The situation is very serious and needs addressing. Many countries have had no option but to find money to fund whatever has been needed to help as many people get through this as possible.

I agree with you that so many of us are feeling tit, but at the moment the best we can do is pull together, stop feeling sorry for ourselves, support each other, and look forward to better times ahead. ❤

I don’t think it will be a lockdown. I think they will make our lives unbearable until we all get the booster.

this is a commercial transaction with pharma.

I love when Drs on TV say "oh those people who are saying it's milder and not to worry etc haven't been affected by covid"

I'm one of those people who feels we need to live with it. I've also had covid. I've got a relative with it on their death certificate (debatable mind) so....he's wrong already 🤣

I’ll tell my teenager who will be back online at home for learning, who’s struggled hard for the last two years and is worried they won’t get the exam results they need to follow the career path they want and are incredibly talented in, that is being impacted by all this and my husband who’s job may be badly impacted by another lockdown to “just stop feeling sorry for themselves”.
I’m sure that’ll get our mortgage paid and my teenager trapped in their bedroom trying to work for exams when education is shut down again, SO MUCH. Why didn’t I think of that before… 🤦‍♀️

Schools haven't closed. Your husband is still working. Would you rather they were attached to machinery helping them to breathe, or would you prefer the scientists to take stock and keep us up to date as the situation unfolds, so that we can try to keep as much running normally as possible.

I lost a relative to covid in the summer and a good friend earlier in the year to covid. I know exactly what happens. I also have to pay bills and look after the mental health and well-being of my family and schools being closed and businesses shut down AGAIN, is not helpful to either of those things. We are all vaccinated, we’ve stuck to rules. Don’t come at me with “would I rather see them on a ventilator” bullshit. Are you offering to pay our bills and to make sure my kid’s education doesn’t suffer any more than it has?
Do we just keep locking down every winter and break the economy and people’s minds? Not sure any of us signed up for that…

Oh bore off. My point, which seems to have been completely lost on you, was that if the government had funded the health service properly in the first place we wouldn’t be in such a ‘serious’ situation. You don’t get to dictate how I personally ‘class’ this virus. It is relatively mild compared to pandemics of the past, that doesn’t mean people haven’t died from it and that is of course terrible, but fact is the majority of people who catch it are fine. Don’t preach to me about stopping feeling sorry for ourselves, ‘pulling together’ and other twee bullshit. I’ve been looking forward to better times since the beginning of this tit show and it only seems to be getting worse.

I really don't understand why some people think it's a choice between getting the vaccine or being on a ventilator/dying

Do they have no awareness of the statistics related to this illness?
