Another fucking lockdown, my god. When will it end. Another variant will come about in a couple months time, then we'll be back to the same situation again. It's so frustrating.
England might be Ok they have a large enough healthservice . NI have no healthservice I don't know about the other regions.

Going out mad Friday so will be interesting to see if that's busy. I actually thought hospitality would be shut by now. I guess they must have money invested somewhere to be leaving it alone.
Hopefully Mad Friday will be a bit calmer this year. The NHS/paramedics already have their hands full!

It’s called black eyed Friday in Newcastle because you were guaranteed a black eye by the end of the night

Agreed!! Ive cut back now as I am so looking forward to xmas day and knowing my luck Id catch it and noone will be able to come but thats my choice.

I dont begrudge or judge others going out and having a good time. It should be personal choice.

according to sky news this scary new variety pack leaves patients with, “milder ‘head cold’ like symptoms”
Anyone wondering if it’s a fucking winter cold. Omni-fucking normal winter cold??
Tested positive on LFT Monday after the starting of cold like symptoms. Confirmed by PCR same day.

I now can breath through 1 nostril but 1 is still blocked (I have issued with this side anyway from multiple broken noses). Feel a lot less wooly headed than yesterday.

Slight cough but mainly because I am mouth breathing and get a dry throat which I then have to clear.

All in all very mild cold symptoms.

Might be a naive question as I don't know much about the politics of Ireland, but can northern Irish not travel to the Republic for treatment? I mean surely Republic wouldn't deny the northerners healthcare (?)

Yeah exactly. Take whatever precautions you can to avoid self isolation.

I'm personally only going to the super neccessary events I had planned - so seeing people I see less often rather than going to a packed pub with work mates I see every day.

Haha. I’ve always avoided it, long before covid. Same with going out Christmas Eve as I don’t want to wake up with a hangover on Christmas morning!

Christmas Eve was always a fun night out but the hangover was not welcome. Kinda glad to be back to having quiet Xmas eves now.

Never heard of Mad Friday.

I’m carrying on with all my social plans with my family, we’ve just said to think about going to big events. We are all vaccinated (most boosted too as nhs and then managed to get in the last week) I’ve also had covid in October.

Lockdowns just put it on hold.

Any excuse to post this magical scene from a couple of years ago, although it was Nye in Manchester

Have a shot, don't have a shot I don't give a shit. I can't cope with lockdowns and debt racked up to support the lockdowns.

Exactly what I said. And the winter cold also spreads like wildfire. Back in full office days, one person the other side of the room sneezed and by hometime everyone had it. Wasn't any mental reaction then of closing the offices! You just got your lemsip and tissues and got the F on with it

We used to have shared packs of lemsips

You just got on with it like you say

When I had to clear out my drawers, I had enough to keep many going through many colds for a fair while plus a decent stash of strepsils

And what do you call the people who will react to this person dying with a laughing face?
I
I reacted with a laugh not because someone died but they had to say they were an anti-vaxer. We already know they were probably vaccinated because if not its screamed from the rooftops right away. Im not buying what they are selling

Just want to say to those getting their boosters or just got them. sending love and hope any reactions are very mild as I know a few of you have had a hard time with the vaccine.
