My first reaction to this story was “ what the hell” but actually, I think it’s a good topic for them to cover. Lots of teenagers and young men have a false reality of sex, caused by watching porn, which includes increasing amounts of violence towards women. Although, I have zero faith in the writers being able to execute the storyline well, they don’t manage it with anything else.
Are we to assume this is the first time either of them have had sex? (havent seen recent eps) if so they're obviously going down the route of young guys recreating porn they've seen thinking it's the norm of basic sex!
I'm prepared to cringe so hard I bleed.

Given the rising "popularity" of choking during sex, I think this storyline is really well timed.
I don't know of any teenagers who watch the soaps. I think this SL is pointless.
I’ve not met anyone younger than me (40) who watches it and most people I know who do watch it are a bit older than me . There is just no need for this storyline plenty of scope for other ideas for Betsy and Dylan .
But the parents of the teenagers might watch it and possibly say something to their child.
As a poster has already said, even the under 40's don't watch the soaps. Maybe as a 65 year old nana I could bring it up?

Sharon Marshall has just said on This Morning she was shocked when she saw that they were doing this story line but now understands why and it is an important subject to do. She said that half of people under 35 have tried this and I have just googled it and it is so and that 45% of 16/17 years old who are sexually active have tried it with it being 50/50 who have received it. It is due to the rise in young adults watching porn and it is going to be be illegal at the end of the year.

I've been watching it since I was a kid but I really don't know anyone else who watched it apart from my Nan and my Mum (both over 80 - different sides of the family if you're trying to work out the maths haha). Not sure who this storyline is trying to relate to. I agree with previous comments that young men are getting weird ideas about sex, women etc from access to porn but as these two haven't done more than have a chaste kiss so far that I've noticed, can't see them going into bang on full kinky choking stuff on the first go, no matter how much porn Dylan has allegedly watched. He'd probably have finished before he got his jeans off in real life as we haven't seen any evidence of him having any relationships with the opposite sex outside of Betsy. Yet another depressing storyline from Corrie that will no doubt put off all the old people who actually are their core audience whether they want to believe it or not.
From what I have just been reading the number of women, of all ages, who watch porn is increasing, especially younger people who are learning about sex from these sites as they are more curious so they could have been watching it together. We will have to wait and see how this develops.
