Constance Marten case - missing mum

Poor baby.
Passed without ever officially existing. I hope they share his/her name so when he/she is found they can have a proper burial.
(I know we don't know for sure, but it's going to be the most likely outcome)

The more I think about it, if the baby was alive and their sole aim was to keep it from SS they wouldn’t have been caught together without the baby. One of them could have stayed with the baby while the other went for supplies. That would keep the baby safer and they would be less likely to be detected if only one of them was in town getting cash and food while the other was in the fields or woods or wherever they were camping out. It makes no sense so I think sadly the baby has passed and it may have already happened several weeks ago

if the baby has came to harm, which is looking extremely likely.
Will it be hard to prove in court, she hasn’t been seen medically so no confirmation of pregnancy that we know, baby born but not registered so no official record and sadly if it has passed at the moment no body.
She could claim there was no baby…..
however the police I think have the placenta found in the car so presume that will be sufficient.
I bet she gets off as has the money to get best lawyers too..

I haven’t fully followed this story but have seen a fair few comments about the baby being born addicted. Is there evidence that the mother was a drug addict/user during pregnancy or is this simply speculation?

Good point actually. It would explain why the police were so desperate to find them and a reason why the baby appears to have passed. They DID require medical attention from birth.

This is my thought too. But if he’s known to police for being sex offender they wouldn’t want a child in his care would they?

Usual when multiple offenders in one crime/incident. It's for several reasons, first one being to keep them as far away from each other as possible.
Also stops any chances of contamination of evidence or witness statements. Almost certainly wouldn't happen but they need to keep the chances to zero. They will have separate legal teams too.
Another reason is work load of investigating team as well as sharing out the emotional burden amongst police force. The stress of interviewing one of them for hours then having to interview the other one would be awful.
The next time those two see each other again will be in the Dock.

Oh makes sense thanks for explaining. I read when they tried to arrest him it took 40 mins for him to calm down and four of them to pin him down and she was shouting get off him .

Pair of utterly disgusting scumbags, running around in those cctv images without a care in the world, skipping around the woods, as long as they’re together they’re happy, meanwhile their dead newborn has been discarded like a piece of rubbish along the way.

Yeah. I appreciate that people are considering that she is in an abusive relationship and being controlled by him, but I don't have any sympathy for her, really. I have been in a long term abusive relationship and still it isn't enough to make you endanger your baby: that's a choice she made. I don't doubt that he's abusive, because he is literally a convicted sexual abuser, but that doesn't mean that she's a good person. A really close friend of mine was a wonderful woman until she fell in with a bad man, then she ended up with no self respect, putting him above all else, including the safety of her baby. It's very hard, but you can't help someone like that who's decided they don't want help. I've got no sympathy for anyone except the poor baby in this case.

God help whoever finds that poor baby if it has passed away. Not something I’d wish on anyone. The police 100% know more as CPS needs good evidence for a change of manslaughter. It’s a shame we don’t have baby hatches so babies can be surrendered safely, not that I think it would’ve saved baby in this instance.

I don’t think they were wanted because of his criminal record (which was old and in a different country). I think it was for the same reason her another children were removed - they were considered to be unfit to care for a child for some other reason. Drugs? Abusive behaviour? Child neglect? I don’t think it was child abuse or he/they would have been arrested before they could run away.

This is just awful. I can't get my head around why they would have left the baby alone last night. I really hope the police can find their tent and find that poor baby. Or if someone is with the baby, hopefully now they will come forwards. It makes me feel sick.
