Fwiw I don't think MG was the sole problem and if she had separated from him she would have probably still had her children removed.
Agree.

I do think it’s clear that he was the problem with her family, and that’s why CM became estranged and unsupported (not that there’s anything to show her parents supported her beforehand - emotionally I mean)

Apologies, I basically was saying the same thing but the first time I didn’t write it very well (had a yelling child going down for a nap and my phone hates tattle and glitches all the time) - MG most likely would have been given a opportunity to be assessed, as like you say CSC can’t just remove a child because of previous convictions - it’s really hard to remove children esp from birth, regardless what TV / media makes out.

Didn’t they search every single b&b in one town early on? That’s mammoth.
Wow, I didn’t know that. Then these’s AirB+B and just Guest Houses. Might be feasible in a small town, but a city? Would CM and MG know they’d done that? Then again, with their paranoia…
The Police certainly put in an effort to find them, for some reason.

From what I understand the first three were all removed at once, then the fourth she left at hospital and then she ran with Victoria. Is that right?! So at one point they 3 kids with them living in a tent.
This is what I could work out from the info shared originally

The first - FF - is confusing. Born winter 2017.
It seems that child was already 1-2 years old when they were discovered in the tent? You could understand why CM and MG thought they’d be okay in a tent if so, having possibly done it for over a year.

It doesn’t seem clear when GG and HH were born. Was it you who said earlier on that they might be twins? Less detail on them because more easy to identify. However, it was Jan 2020 at the latest as care proceedings were started for FF. GG, HH in Jan 2020 - FF was just two at this point.
On top of care proceedings, legal proceedings were started in 2019.

All of the photos on her FB were shared in Feb 2020. On there are BTY (boy) DAV (girl) and COF (I think boy) so must be FF, GG, HH.

Then she was pregnant again in 2021 - II. She was living in a house or flat at this time as she hid behind the door. This is the baby she then left hospital without. I don’t know if it’s clumsy wording by the journalist, but ‘young baby’ is different to ‘newborn’ for me.

I wonder whether she was on the radar because of her links to Al Jazeera?

(Ignore that this link says the baby is a boy which is obviously incorrect)

It definitely sounds that the prosecution is going to bring up the previous children and why they were removed.

In one of my previous roles I had to frequently liaise with the dept of the police who monitored sex offenders and inform them if someone was admitted to hospital. The police often said they'd wondered where they were as they lost track of them

I was looking for the post about her previously being warned of unsafe sleeping and have just mixed up ans just re-read this one

I’ve been listening to a podcast about this trial. Fascinating yet disgusting.
Just wanted to add it states in the latest one the poor babies head was ‘concave’ when found by the police officer in the bag. Came here to see if anyone else had picked up on this. After some Googling it says this is usually linked to extreme dehydration. Of course this could be decomposition too, I don’t know?
Here’s the link to this episode:

It was discussed in the last thread, put behind a spoiler for those who dont want to read
my personal thoughts were decomposition. Her skull would have still had soft spots which could have decomposed quickly and sunken inwards. Plus there was weight on top of her from the rubbish in the bag. The post mortem did not find a cause of death which says to me it wasn't thought to be from an injury.

I was also wondering how it’s monitored as a visitor to the hospital, it’s never even crossed my mind before.

As a vulnerable inpatient on a maternity ward with a newborn, I’d have been really concerned if I’d known that the man visiting the woman next to me was a convicted sex offender

I wonder again if that’s why they’d avoid hospitals to birth this baby and why he didn’t visit her before.

I think this will come out, next week in court. With the prosecution barrister going through what advice CM was given with her previous children. It's likely social workers tried to work with CM to improve her parenting before removing the children.

I doubt they could monitor it in visitors to be honest? Admitted obviously unless you lie (as CM did) they’d have a lot of data to link with but I don’t recall them asking my OH for much personal info beyond his name when I gave birth so unless you were Gary Glitter or someone with a similarly high profile case or very distinctive name, how would they know?

If there are safeguarding concerns highlighted in pregnancy, a care plan will be put in place for the birth. If the father is deemed a risk he maybe banned from the maternity ward or only able to visit under supervision. If its a general visitor they won't be quizzed on their past convictions. There are specialist midwives trained in safeguarding who work with families like CM and a discharge planning meeting is had before the baby goes home.
