While I agree with much of this there is something to be said for women having financial independence and the greater freedom that comes with it - freedom to live how they want without asking their husbands to fund it, freedom to leave their marriages if they are unhappy or abusive. It’s very difficult. In an ideal world, we would have a benevolent government who paid a caregiver to stay at home and raise children and undertake domestic duties - and this would be recognised as a valid and respected career choice as much as any other employment.
I agree. Motherhood should be valued and every woman should be able to chose to stay home with their children for the first 5 years at least.

But she is wrong when she says toxic masculinity isnt a things. We have a massive problem with the sexualisation of women.

For me it should be about choice. In the pre feminist days, women had no choice but to be home persons. Now it's gone too much the other way and we're all expected to be these career women.

Yes I completely agree, whether you want to be a stay at home mum or you want a career, it should be celebrated either way. Toxic masculinity exists but then so does toxic feminism. It's a balance between the two. I also think this all starts to merge into transhumanism too but that's a whole other story.

Absolutely. I said ‘caregiver’ because there may be men who would prefer to raise children and there may be women who want to pursue careers outside the home. People having a fair choice would erase so much resentment and frustration and in turn, I think families would have healthier dynamics and relationships too.

I agree that toxic masculinity is an issue as well. I asked a friend about this recently who can come across a bit toxically masculine when with his friends but has a much softer, sweeter, compassionate side. I was hugely generalising but pointed out that so many young boys are kind, loving and protective, particularly of their mothers and sisters - what happens to them, what goes wrong? And he essentially said that little boys are as much of a victim of the patriarchy as girls are but the genders are affected differently. I’m inclined to believe this and thinks it helpful to frame feminist discussions with the patriarchy as the enemy, not men. It can be an enemy we share and fight together.

That's so true. Some feminists talk about men like they are all these toxic humans. But in reality toxic male culture takes sweet little boys and turns them into horrible adults.

Yes men have some sex drive issues. But it's the culture that tells them to objectify women.

Pitting males and females against each other is just another way to divide and conquer us.

Yes there seem to be many woke agendas dividing us and weakening our collective strength - for example BLM was not used to unite races but to make the divisions wider and to fuel the negative emotions surrounding race relations. The hatred and violence borne out of that movement was destructive on so many levels.

I'm doing a PhD at the moment - broad brushstrokes, it's about how masculinity prevents academic success. It is really interesting!

What fresh hell is this 🤮🤮

This is just the beginning…’they’ want to normalise paedophilia to the point that it will be another letter to added to the LBTGQ acronym.

On another note, I was googling ‘sun rash’ earlier and noticed that the Healthline website said you are more likely to suffer with this ‘if you were assigned female at birth’.

I suppose this is to make the distinction that it doesn’t affect trans women but I don’t understand how it’s acceptable for women to have to have their gender redefined but it’s unacceptable for trans women to have the prefix ‘trans’? It’s not ideal, I understand trans women feel they are born into the wrong body and want to be known as women, but it’s not ideal for women to be redefined either! Women really do come bottom of the pile in our society (and particularly so if you’re of colour).

edited to add - tattle has combined my two posts, I’m not in any way suggesting a link between the two topics!

I think she’s a brave woman. She says Nickelodeon offered her $300,000 to stay silent.

I was sat outside sweltering today and I thought…how funny that they were warning of food shortages due to war in ukraine etc and now there’s drought conditions affecting crops across Europe, the likes of which haven’t been seen for a lifetime…

Yay a new thing to be scared off. Drought. Front page head line today.

At one point there was a hose pipe ban every year.

We have one dry summer and the news are talking like we'll be having to walk to communal wells for water by September.

And these photos of dry grass. Yes it's summer, grass hybernates in dry weather and goes brown. It's not supposed to be green the whole time. Not unless you artificially water it.

Yes I can remember hosepipe bans every single summer. So many have no understanding of the past and really believe things like this are unusual.

I have noticed my non CT friends who don't watch or read much media are saying what a lovely summer we are having this year a bit too hot at times but better than a rainy summer .. Those who seem to watch and read media are saying how unusual and unbearable hot it is.
Power of suggestion?

Oh MY God FOS, this has made me soooo mad I'm almost speechless. I can't say on a public forum what I'd like to do to Pedos (and animal abusers). They wouldn't be long for this earth if I had my way and no excuses. All about the perpetrator and not the poor victims. Steam coming out of my ears at the moment.

Completely agree with you. Some women are feminists only when it suits them. Whether we like it or not men still have the primitive hunter/gatherer gene and some feel emasculated at present. I think this has led to an increase in toxic masculinity. Woman are grossly over sexualised, but we as women, we need to take more responsibility. It's not empowering to use our bodies for the gratification of men. I feel so sorry for anyone who has a teenage daughter, with all the exposure to porn. Sorry if this upsets some people.

The Frank wright I shared mentioned J g Ballard. Quote below sums up todays thinking.
Sports radio presenter last night harping on about "unprecedented weather and drought " and " what IS going on". Bullshit, Bullshit and more Bullshit. He was someone who I remember regularly goes to Spain and comes back boasting it was high 30s.

I always want to rant about the hate for men on many Tattle threads and the throwing around of the word "misogynist", usually when they don't understand a post. Usually followed up by the incredibly insulting and idiotic word " gammon".
I'm sorry but in my reality we had a female prime minister 40 years ago followed up with another. Here in the uk and West women are not the weaker sex, no-one is stopping us playing football etc. Infact it's young men that we are letting down with large suicide, drink and drugs rates while the young girls are sexualising THEMSELVES, pouting and showing the world their privates in the name of " empowerment " !
I don't always have good things to say about the men I've known but ditto women. Bad people are male and female and ditto good people. It's so fooking backward to divide by the sex .
If these people want to champion women's rights plus racism ( real not imagined) and homophobia then I suggest they concentrate on the countries and communities where it is very real.
Sorry in advance for the rant.

I was in a woman's refuge a few times, once for 2 years. Those who run it were man haters. They dressed and looked like men .. not the two workers but those who were the board members maybe? there were about 6 of them and we had to have meetings once a month with them.

They would keep going on and on about men and all the trouble they caused in the world I had to speak up because I have two sons who would one day be men. and I knew no son of mine would ever scare another human being
One lady was almost turned away because she had a 13 yo son reason that there were women in the house very scared of men . I said we are not scared of all men, just the one who put us here..

Also about the weather.. do you remember every year at this time farmers set their fields on fire even during heatwaves ? How odd that no one was worried. It was banned- they say- due to the smoke dangers to drivers and pollution , Farmers are trying to bring it back as its better for the fields
