Re the milk spilling. What annoys me is that if a young mother or elderly person or infact anyone stole a bottle of milk in desperation due to poverty then they would be charged with shoplifting and possibly arrested. Yet these so called activists are allowed to simply pour loads of bottles of milk on the floor with absolutely no consequence. BTW I don't condone shoplifting but just making the point.
Every time I see an interview with one of them, when asked, the spokesperson is never vegan. Latching on to veganism when you can bet most are “flexitari-ahhhn” at best. It really pisses me off to see any food wasted, I deplore the dairy industry but it feels like a double whammy to waste the milk. Same with eggs on mischief night, all that suffering for what. These ‘protests’ are never what meets the eye.

If all it took was a cherry picker, why did it take 36 hours and not 2 hours to get it done?
- Dartford Crossing has been closed for a day after two protesters climbed the QEII bridge at 3.50am yesterday
- A cherry picker arrived and the eco-zealots have now been taken down from the bridge and arrested
- The two men have been arrested on a charge of suspicion of conspiracy to commit public nuisance
- Comes as police also probing video appearing to show fireworks being fired at the protesters last night
- A separate protest by the group this morning blocked traffic outside Barons Court station in London
I think it was a super tall cherry picker. Not many of them around and I'm sure the few there are are booked solid on construction jobs, not laying around waiting for a twit to climb up a bridge.
I hope they are made to pay the immediate costs of hiring the super cherry picker in the first instance, and that cost is not left to the taxpayer to pick up on their behalf.

Just seen that, I don’t agree with that at all but I guess they are aware of these things when deciding to do an occupation, as they are aware the videos they are making to raise awareness will be seen by many- although actually looking someone up and then passing on their personal details is no way justified for that!

When I saw this thread title I came on here to say how brilliant I think he is. He’s articulated it so well and I know this’ll sound problematic but isn’t as “other” as a lot of the notorious campaigners have been - eg plumby accent, pink hair, bottles of urine. I think he’s provided the most compelling argument and in the least repulsive way which is what we as a society need to change minds…

I think the prevailing point is the lack of investment in infrastructure and long term thinking re sustainability and protecting us from external factors such as Russian gas becoming unavailable or these national grid problems. We should have been better protected from the current situation.
25% windfall tax isn’t enough, wealth taxes aren’t enough, income taxes far too high for the little additional revenue they provide. Taxing wealth brings in the big bucks not bleeping around with margins and single percentage points.
I’m actually in favour of raising the additional and top rate thresholds which many will be against but £1/50k back when that was introduced is very, very different to what it is now and it’s not untold riches. But we should tax intergenerational wealth more, especially these ridiculous deposits totally bleeping the housing market up.
Tbh from a philosophical POV if the tories believe everyone can get somewhere just through hard work they should support it too? If it’s all meant to be on merit we should all start on 0 and see how far we get.
Wonder if the nutjob shown in the video getting carried back into Harrods after he spraypainted their windows subsequently fell up a few concrete staircases or helped open the Harrods shoplifter detention cell doors with his face
