She’s gone full mean girl tonight. I really believe Clem hates women unless they’re fawning over her. She can’t cope with any criticism at all.

A five second Google would tell her that Antonella Gambotto-Burke is a real journalist with more publications than Clementine. And what is with the intentional mangling of the Italian part of Gambotto-Burke’s last name? Too ethnic for her comfort? I’m sure Clem’s One Nation supporting father thinks it’s hilarious.

Also her paying out Antolella’s singing is quite funny from Clem who thinks she’s some type of singing superstar 😵💫

I really wish that women could disagree with each other in public forums without resorting to comments about each others’ appearance. It just cheapens their arguments (on both sides).

I don’t agree with Antonella Gambotto-Burke’s review of Clem’s book at all personally, I think she’s got a lot of internalised misogyny. I’m married and wouldn’t change it but Clem’s assessment that marriage was invented to benefit men and exploit women is fact. I don’t see why when talking about a book about why women shouldn’t marry she’s bringing up the male suicide rate and women killing children. Pick me vibes. She also comes across as a right wing transphobe.
The review seems like a lot of what about-ism. Multiple things can exist concurrently and be true. And / also; it’s not all “only this”

It’s The Australian. It’s Murdoch of course that’s the response I’m surprised they didn’t get Bettina Arndt to write it.

I agree with a few parts of Antonella’s review but not others. I do think it's hilarious to see a journalist treat Clementine the way she regularly treats women - total contempt.

Clementine appears to have burned a lot of bridges in the media, outrage porn on Instagram is her business model now and I think this part is spot on: “Ford’s primary interest is not understanding, or philosophical evolution, but an extremely profitable divisiveness.”

I usually roll my eyes when feminists are accused of misandry - it’s such a silly men’s activist cliche - but the way Clementine speaks about men is disgusting and it colours everything she does. She has no ability to deal with nuance, everything is black and white. Most women still choose to marry or cohabilitate but she's more interested in chastising them than asking why that is and what benefits they see in it (Hint Clementine: it's not just about the big white dress).

Antonella's article is pretty bad - it's obvious she doesn't like Clementine so the review is going to be bad regardless. It unclear if she has even read the book. She holds very misogynistic views and is clearly transphobic AND she's written a book about "the feminine" 🤮 I don't love everything about Clementine but I think I like Antonella even less.

She just seems so childish too, the way she talks about why she accepted her partners proposal, and the way she tried to play everyone and say the article wasn't being published just to see the reaction. Like grow up - if you believe in what you've written and stand by it, why the need for all the extra publicity?

Antonella is AWFUL but where's the lie in this:

"Actually, I’m not sure you could get any whiter than Ford – a queer, bleached blonde agony aunt whose father ran for One Nation in Queensland"
I'm unsure what the relevance to her father has though. We aren't responsible for our parents choices and we often grow up having wildly different perspectives on life to our parents. The one nation bit is a cheap shot imo. Clem has also talked about her father and how she calls him out and that she disagrees with a lot of his ideals. The fact that she can't influence her own father/family is a perfect example of how patriarchy and racism can thrive in our world.

My aunty is wildly religious and her son (my cousin) had to use IVF and it caused all kinds of friction in their family. He is not responsible for her very misguided ideals about conception and science vs religion.

Clem was sued for defamation by Carl Soda I think - she was cleared of everything. Clementine is smart in how she does things, I think she is smart enough to work just within the law even if she employs some horrible tactics. I will be interested to see how this latest defamation case goes
