I think anyone who truly believes that sharing information about either side of the Gaza situation to their followers on Instagram is helpful, making a difference or creating awareness is an idiot. There is nothing you can do that is going to influence this situation to end via Instagram. The keyboard warriors trying to use the suffering of these people for clout is disgusting
I think it’s better we see what’s going on rather than just carry on with our lives? Ignorance is a dangerous thing. We can’t change it in real time but if we dont like how our government is responding we can take action or vote differently when the time comes.
Influencers are how so many people receive information, news, like it or not. You need to meet people where they are. They do have ‘influence’ and I think those who feel strongly are not only damaging their relationships with brands (like LDB), they are opening themselves up to vile threats. Like the opposite of clout. I’m sure there are loads putting the odd ‘SAvE PAleStiNe hands in heart shape’ performative thing, I’m not talking about them.
Clementine and Lauren DuBois are both consistently gaining followers with their Israel-Palestine posts. Lauren is up over 7000 over the last month. I absolutely think it’s about clout. Every one of those followers will be monetised.
This is one of the most complex and intractable political problems in the world but you wouldn’t know it from reading their posts. Nuance doesn’t generate outrage and clicks, it doesn’t attract followers.
Clementine published a woman’s banking details because she disagreed with her. Can you imagine how she would have reacted if someone had done the same to her? She can’t cope with a Instagram account criticising her but she abuses other people constantly. Lauren Dubois is doing martyred videos about how all the abuse is worth it because she just cares so much and “you guys know I never mind people disagreeing with me” (bleeping lol). Clementine is publishing a photo of copies of her book in Kmart with barely noticeable ripped covers and telling everyone without evidence that it was done by “pro-genocide warmongers” followed by, of course, a link to purchase her book.
Both of them are acting like they’re the main characters in this conflict and it’s sickening.

Can we add Constance Hall to this list please. Her responses to anyone calling her out alongside her chasing clout, have been just as desperate and vile.
If you attempt to log into someone’s account and say “forgot password” it will pop up with a little window to say that the password reset has been sent to an email address or phone number. It doesn’t give you the full thing, but it’s generally enough to match it up with another known account.
