Did you have any staining with this? I’ve been sticking to clear alcoholic beverages 😅
No nothing very noticeable. I also would have a coffee or two during the day and nothing too bad. By the end I was changing them quite regularly so it didn’t matter that much and used lots of retainer brite to keep them clean

Gappy and moving 😬😨. Is it really bad? Feel like I need to prepare myself!
I've had the Clincheck and all was fine so just waiting for dentist to get back to me with a plan to for me to ok now. Slightly concerned as the mock up she showed me on the computer had a massive gap either side in my top teeth, it wasn't pretty.
She did say that's just a starting point and there is back and forth between her and Invisalign to tweak it before the trays are made. I'm starting to get the fear!

Wow!! 😱 I just wriggled at the thought of that 😂🥴 how long have you been doing it for?
Been almost 4 months. I had a retainer at the back of my bottom teeth for 25 years (!) before these aligners so I’ve asked to get that again after I’m done. So at least they’ll stay put then.

I’d say it’s worth it so don’t be put off. It’s a lot more discomfort than I imagined but I’m already pretty delighted with the results and I’ve still got two months to go.

Yeah the back and forth thing is normal, my dentist went back to them with feedback as they recommended shaving some enamel on my first plan & she said it’s ridiculous as I’ve got good healthy teeth and it’s a minor course there’s no need to make permanent adjustments to teeth. The next plan was entirely different based upon my dentist’s feedback, you have to remember they don’t actually see your teeth so it’s going to have to be a collaboration between the two!

Re loose teeth - horrifyingly my dentist didn’t tell me til mine were fitted. She said it’s normal as the bone needs time to catch up with the movement, I’m really glad I’ve not experienced it but I’m constantly anxious I’ll pull a tooth out with my retainers 😳 the only answer to that is keep them on as close to 24/7 as poss 😂

Ok, now I’m worried as mine has been pain free. I think week 5 I felt a pulling sensation, but had gone by the next day (I put new ones in on the evening) but apart from that, it hasn’t hurt 😟 do I have soft teeth if it isn’t hurting?! 😳😩

It is painful, more so than I was prepared for and totally relate to the comment around removing the trays and feeling like you’re going to pull a tooth in the process 🥲
I must admit I’d be a little worried if I didn’t like the mock up? Are you planning composite bonding work as well?

Thanks everyone, yes I’m aware I won’t get any trays etc next Friday, it’s just scans and xrays and they’ve said I should be ready to start tray 1 about 2 weeks later! Any time before Christmas I’d be happy with!

I definitely still drank cocktails with mine fun through a straw 😈
This is the exact news I was waiting to hear 🤣 I will add straws to my holiday list!!

No, just the Invisalign at the moment. I really think the bottom are too overcrowded so I probably need a tooth removing. I'm going to see what the new mock up looks like at the next appointment and bring it up if I'm still not happy with it.
She said I'd need to be referred elsewhere if I need a tooth removing but I'm not sure if she meant just for the extraction or for the whole Invisalign process.

Thank you, that's really helpful info.

Not loving the wobbly teeth thing *shudder*

I only wear mine at night. It’s a much longer process but I’m ok with that. I found I was lisping and dribbling while trying to speak.

I just want it over with ASAP!!! I don't have those problems but the attachments did cause sores and I definitely struggled to sit that initial period out 😅

I’m halfway through my treatment now and had some filing done in between my front teeth… you can barley tell any difference, but I could feel my hands shaking as soon as he was about to do it 😂 I never know what to do with my hands, so I just keep them clasped together on my lap.

How was the filing, if you don’t mind me asking?
I had my scans etc today and they said my case is pretty straightforward however I’ll need some filing. I wasn’t worried until I read a blog when I got in and now I’ve scared myself silly 🤣

It’s no bother, the noise makes it sound worse than it actually is. It was very noisy. Then he got a thin strip of grey paper and ran it back and forth in between my teeth after filing (like a soft, fine/thin nail file!) I think he had to go back and use the electric filer and then he uses what looks like a razor blade and slots it where he had filed between. This must be to check there is enough room for movement.
I think I get the fear that he might slip and something goes wrong and that’s why I get jittery 😂
I was expecting see a big gap once he’d done it, but it was very, very minor.

Oh great, thank you! I’m not easily scared by things like that but I’ve heard so many stories of people who said it’s just awful, so that’s made me feel better again 🤣

My dentist has recommended I wait til January to start as December gets ‘crazy’ and routine goes out the window! Makes total sense but I just want to get started now!!

It’s not awful! I’d agree the noise makes it worse, if I’d been prepared I’d maybe have taken headphones to be honest! It’s a strange sensation, and my ortho definitely had to use quite a bit of force…he said at one point “gosh your teeth are really close together” 🤣🤣 It’s not painful.
I’m def worried December with all the nights out is going to throw off my progress and extend treatment time!

I’m just going to drink gin through a straw and Prosecco (not coloured, so won’t stain 😂)

I think patients that have said it is awful must have past trauma from the dentist lol. It was the not knowing what to expect that made me nervous.

So I had my Clincheck today and get my first set of aligners on the 17th! 😬 I am due to have 22 trays and change them every 10 days so it’s not looking as long a process as I thought which is good! I don’t get attachments til tray 7 either so I can get going over Christmas and new year.
Has anyone got any recommendations of useful things I should get ready for when I begin? I’ve got a little pouch to go in my handbag, and will obviously get a toothbrush and travel sized toothpaste… any aligner cleaners etc?
