Thanks everyone for your advice it’s really appreciated! I’m gonna hate being a 28 year old with braces for 6 months but hopefully it will be worth it!

I was 27 and quite conscious of them! Soo worth it i swear. Just thinking i had mine from april to oct, so if you start soon we'll be similar!

One tip - lipstick seems to get all over them so dont wear it, instead colour in your lips with lip liner, that didnt transfer for me!

Thank you! Did you find you had many people comment on them when you had them? I’m a bit nervous about what people will say

Nobody has commented on mine and I'm of an age where you wouldn't expect someone to have braces.

Also, to whoever mentioned earlier about food. I've eaten everything, curry included and no staining of the attachments. I've drunk tea with them in all the way through as I was advised this was ok my dentist. The only thing I've avoided is red wine.

1 refinement tray to go. Eek!

Thank you! It’s nice to know it’s not just me - I’ll keep trying! 🤞🏻
How are you getting on?

I'm considering the fixed brace as I don't think I will have the dedication for the Invisalign!
I thought this, but honestly, I only wore mine from around roughly 6pm-10am because I eat so much and my teeth moved as they were supposed to lol

Has anyone completed their treatment and found that their face shape has changed? I'm worried about getting them now as my face is so long and thin as it is and I don't want to look even worse (but with good teeth haha)

I've just finished mine and my face shape has changed (for the better). It's far more like it was originally, before I had the initial dental treatment that led to the need for Invisalign.

I had my attachments off and moulds taken for the permanent metal retainers last week. There's just a bit of bonding that needs doing to fill in a gap now.

Overall I'm extremely happy. My bite isn't like it was for most of my life but it's improved so much from the horror I was left with after the implant fiasco. I can bring my teeth together comfortably now and they are straight! They just don't quite meet at the back on the one side, although my dentist says that will resolve itself. Most importantly though I can smile again and don't feel utterly tormented how my teeth look anymore. I'm really pleased I was able to go ahead with it.

I started Invisalign last week! I’m not finding it painful at all, but the lifestyle change and commitment is difficult. I’m now basing my whole life around when I’ll take my trays out, and I’m going out with friends today for the first time and genuinely considering eating before at home so I don’t have to deal with taking them in and out in public. 😩
Whenever i went out, I'd just take them out before i left the house. Made no difference to how long my invisalign has taken. Id say aim for 18-20 hours a day, you don't NEED to have them in ALL the time, just wear them as much as humanly possible, but don't allow them to take over your life etc

I agree, at first I was very stressed about wearing them all the time but realistically if every time you change your trays they fit on without much of a struggle, then you know you’re wearing them enough.

This is the exact conversation i had with my dentist. I only wore my invisalign 6pm-10am ish which i dont recommend but i asked my dentist if my teeth are moving as expected and he said the trays wouldn't fit if they weren't moving as expected. I guess they have to be super strict about it just to cover themselves

Oh wow really? I’ve been wearing mine for 23 hours a day (probably more than that tbh!) Maybe I need to be less hard on myself. I literally take them out for ten mins for breakfast, lunch and dinner and then rush to clean my teeth and get them back in.
Definitely be less hard on yourself. Im on my last 8 trays now hopefully, i have one really stubborn tooth that just won't straighten. I drink all drinks with mine in too and i don't brush my teeth after each meal either - i dont want to be brushing my teeth 8 times a day 🤣 i brush morning and night and soak my trays in fairy liquid and warm water every night. Works perfectly fine!

I started my Invisalign in November and am on my last tray now; I can't believe how quickly it's gone but I'm so pleased with the results!

At the start I definitely considered not carrying on with it when I was battling to get the bloody things off but it's been so worth it.

Maybe I'm lucky in that I've not had really any pain (until my last tray for some reason) and have only had to have my last 2 trays extended by a week each as I have one tooth that hasn't quite moved enough but only a tiny amount. I'm getting all the attachments removed & my retainers fitted on 4 April though so I don't think it's an issue if it still hasn't moved properly.

Has anyone else had to do their whitening with trays at home? I assumed it would be done at the dentist but when I saw them they said that I would get whitening trays to take him at my appt & I just need to decide if I want trays to wear for 1 hour a day or overnight ones. Just wondering if anyone recommends which ones to go for in terms of how sensitive it made their teeth feel.

I thought the whitening would be at the dentist as well. I did mine at home and put little dots of gel on my retainer and put them in over night (can’t remember how many nights). I was happy with the results but it made my teeth SO SENSITIVE during the process.

Wow that's really quick! My dentist said mine will take a year as my teeth are moderate/severe. I start in June but keep trying to talk myself out of it, I know I'll regret it if I don't do it though!

Yeah I was surprised but thought as long as it works I don't mind really. Just worried about how sensitive my teeth will be; they've been more so than normal with the invisalign which I was told was normal but I'm a bit nervous about this than the actual straightening for some reason!

It's so worth it! I waited for years to do it & wish I had just gone for it years ago. You will not regret it, just get the first/second tray out the way and it will fly by.

Only thing is I realised I have no idea how to smile while showing my teeth as I've always covered them so need to remind myself to smile more now!

On the days I’m in the office I drink coffee with my Invisalign in 😬 I’m pretty sure the drink would have to be absolutely boiling hot to warp the plastic but I let it cool a bit just in case.

I do notice it discolours the aligner a bit but i don’t think so much so that others would notice. I go to the office Tuesday and Thursday and switch aligners on Thursday eve.

I got my Invisalign on Monday. So exciting, though the novelty is def wearing off already.

I’ve not had any pain luckily but I’m surprised at how noticeable the attachments are. I’ve got two on one of my front teeth and one each on my pointy cainines which make them look a really weird shape. Definitely not invisible!

Is anyone happy to share how much theirs cost? (Invisalign)
My dentist quoted me £5k for up to 12 months which was more than expected

That does seem a lot!! Mine was £4.5k for a complex case that would likely take 2 years
