Sorry to jump on your thread, did you lot just asks your own dentist about braces or ring a company that do braces x

Yes, they told me it would still whiten with the attachments.

I’m whitening right now with my attachments and was told the same. My dentist is a platinum Invisalign provider and I absolutely trust her .

I had two old fillings that needed replaced and had to get them done before I started Invisalign. Apparently if they are old they can get damaged with the braces/teeth moving?

I’m finding the teeth with the new fillings are extra sensitive now I have the braces but apparently it’s to be expected. I mentioned to my dentist this week and he said they will just stop treatment for a couple of weeks if it gets really bad. It’s a lot of trauma on the teeth in a short space of time!

I also had a hygienist appt before I started but I hadn’t had one in ages so it was well overdue

I think I spent almost £5k on my teeth in the space of 8 weeks!!

Sorry I didn’t see this! It wasn’t that bad honestly, I’m just quite dramatic about things most people would see as a mild inconvenience The worst bits were I couldn’t bite properly with them on so some food was really hard to eat, couldn’t chew gum, sometimes I got ulcers and occasionally I’d have to go for an emergency appointment cos something had snapped (usually because I’d been eating something I shouldn’t!) . I’d do it again in a heartbeat though as the results were amazing

I have the same gap and I have bonding on it. Who told you it doesn’t last long? My first one lasted over ten years! I think it’s great and only cost me a couple of hundred quid!

Just adding - I had Invisalign on just my bottom teeth which cost £1750. When I had my bonding redone (a while after the Invisalign) they told me they’d want to do Invisalign on the top and bottom again to close the gap, because it might cause bite issues etc. That would’ve cost £3.5k. So I went for the bonding again which was a couple of hundred and only took a couple of hours!

The dentist told me! So I was worried they were trying to push me into Invisalign when the rest of my teeth are fine. I just don’t know what to do

I contacted a dentist and sent pics over, and he said both Invisalign and composite bonding would work for me, so I’m thinking to have a few consultations in a couple places and see what they all say.

do you mind me asking if the bonding is obvious? I was worried it would make my teeth look ‘bigger’ (width wise) and look unnatural, or does it look natural? and when you said it lasted over 10 years, did it just fall off after? Or slowly erode? Thank you so much!

Waited a month for my consultation only to be told that my teeth are more of a complex case and they would need to refer me elsewhere to an Orthodontist So frustrating, I assumed they would have one within the practice!! Am I dumb for not checking this before? Defo an FYI for anyone going for a consultation - it's worth checking as my teeth are not extreme by any means, just some overcrowding on the bottom where I rejected braces in my teens so I'm really quite surprised.

Waited for ages and paid for a pointless appointment (only £45 so didn't bother arguing it) but now I've got to wait some more and pay again! Life

Yeah I’ve never been asked to send photos in? Huge disclaimer I’m on a very very short run of treatment (3 months) for a minor issue but I get given 4 aligners at a time and move up weekly. When I go in the dentist just eyeballs me, tbh I’m 2/3rds tbrough treatment and I’d be happy with my teeth staying like this now anyway.

But yeah I definitely wouldn’t stop wearing an aligner - at Christmas even if I had it out for 3/4 hours it would feel tighter when it went back in, god knows how it’d feel for weeks!! I’d keep your last aligner in until you can go in again.

Definitely agree on Christmas tightness!! I wouldn’t be sure I’d get it back in at all after a week or more Can feel the pain just thinking about it!

So I had my Clincheck today and get my first set of aligners on the 17th! I am due to have 22 trays and change them every 10 days so it’s not looking as long a process as I thought which is good! I don’t get attachments til tray 7 either so I can get going over Christmas and new year.
Has anyone got any recommendations of useful things I should get ready for when I begin? I’ve got a little pouch to go in my handbag, and will obviously get a toothbrush and travel sized toothpaste… any aligner cleaners etc?

I will do! Not sure tbh - I'm not usually nervous about the dentist. I guess cos I don't know exactly what's going to happen, and cos I remember getting my braces as a teenager being such a bad experience.

Ah that’s exciting, happy for you! I keep checking my teeth like… have they moved yet? but I know I need to be patient how long do you have them for? I have 14 trays so should be done around mid October

Yeah I am quite self conscious about mine at the moment! I read that the more you talk, the more your tongue gets used to the Invisalign so you lose the lisp so I am going to talk out loud to myself as much as I can to lose this lisp I’m starving and it is a lot of effort but like you say, 1 week down! Fingers crossed it will be worth it!

The only thing I will say is prepare yourself for the 'adjustments' to be as long as the treatment. My original plan was 15 aligners (2 weeks per aligner) and my adjustments were 13 aligners. I was gutted to begin with. If you prepare for that early, it'll just be a nice surprise if you don't need that many lol.

It is all definitely worth it. I've got about 2 months left of wearing the Vivera aligners all day and then I move to night time only forever. I can't wait to never have to brush my teeth at work again!!!

Just secured a place to proceed with Invisalign, beginning next Friday (scans etc) as my local centre has a £1000 off currently.
My only worry now is that I naively thought it would only take a couple of months, however i’m going on a 2 week all inclusive holiday next May and I want to spend my days drinking all the cocktails has anyone had a similar issue?

I’m on my first aligner, have to wear them for two weeks before changing! It was so tight at the start but doesn’t feel like that now I’ve been wearing it for 11 days…. Is that normal enough?

Very normal! Aligner 2 will feel tight and then follow the same pattern.

I have just finished 16 weeks of Invisalign, my teeth weren’t that bad before but I wasn’t happy with them. I wore the braces as instructed for 23 hours a day most days and apart from having to take them out when eating and drinking I didn’t find them too bad. I paid £2300 for in the initial treatment and then also paid for a wire to stop my teeth moving and a set of Invisalign (you actually get 3 sets) to wear at night to also help stop them moving, I think that was an extra £700 but well worth it in my opinion.

How many attachments did everyone have on their teeth? I finally had my first appointment for invisalign today to get all of the images and impressions and my dentist told me I’m probably going to need quite a few

Im not sure what you consider quite a few but I have 16

I had braces as a kid and ofcourse my teeth got a bit wonky once wisdom teeth etc sets in. I had a look at invisalign but in the end went with braces. This was because I preferred to just have braces than the fidlyness off having the clear mouth guards. I had ceramic braces and only needed them for my bottom teeth.
Best decision ever as my teeth actual moved quicker than expected and I wore them for just less than a year when they were predicting 18 months

I’m 1 week in and seriously struggling already with removing my aligners and having to clean my teeth before putting the aligners back in! I usually would have 4 coffees a day…. Does anyone have a coffee with your aligners in?

I’m really tempted to get Invisalign. As a teenager my dentist told me I didn’t have to have braces as my teeth wasn’t that “bad”. I hated the dentist as a child (we’re talking HUGE phobia, crying, kicking the dentist) and didn’t bother with braces and I’ve always regretted it! I managed to overcome my fear and going the dentist doesn’t bother me too much now.

I don’t like my teeth, my top 2 and bottom 2 overlap and it’s quite noticeable. Don’t get me wrong, they’re not dreadful but I’ve been thinking about getting invisalign for years now. I’m nearly 27 and think well what’s the point? Am I too old now, is there any point?
I’ve also still got a baby tooth and I’m constantly paranoid it’s going to fall out, there’s nothing behind it to push it out

I asked my dentist and he said to soak them in diluted mouth wash when I’m eating every few days! He said to me that they shouldn’t get mega dirty when your brushing your teeth before putting them back on! Also said they shouldnt get major grubby cos I’m changing them every 2 weeks to a fresh new set

I cant always brush my teeth before putting them back in after eating which is why i soak them twice a day. But yeah, in terms of staining etc I was never concerned as you are changing them every couple of weeks .. mine haven't stained at all and I've had this set on for a week so far
