Ah no I’m running behind! Well I think that would be a game changer for any relationship 😳

I know I watched these episodes the first time around but I couldn’t remember Toyah’s ordeal. I’ll tell you another ordeal, bloody Sally Webster - give your head a wobble Sal, he’s taking you for a fool!!
Yeah Sally is doing my head in - but so is Kevin. Sick of hearing him moan. I often mute the telly when he starts, even now with modern Corrie.
I live for the Alec, Jack and Vera scenes at the moment 🤣

I know Roy and Hayley are seen as odd people, and it's only a soap , but it must be nice to meet someone you realise is perfect for you without worrying what they look like etc.. you just get on with your life getting on with them and enjoying life, everyone in the street takes the piss , but who are the winners in the end.
Roy's face brightens when he keeps realising she has all the same interests 😁 its like he can't quite believe someone else is like him 😁
I dont think it would have bothered Roy she was a man as the relationship is based on companionship and respect rather than full on sexual lust 🤣

I’m a lot behind on Classic Corrie and just finished the Samantha story. Who decided to change her character completely from when she arrived? Makes no sense. I love classic Corrie but I’m already seeing signs of where the wheels start to fall off. In one year on the street it’s got rid of some great characters that had character and nobody great in their place.

Nobody has a good word to say about Anthony Cotton! And yet, he's still employed. What I want to know is what kind of scurrilous gossip he surely must have on the higher ups!
No one has a good word to say about him for two good reasons.

1) He plays a boring token gesture gay character in Corrie of no particular significance. Not even well acted at that.
2) AC is a nasty person in real life. Very bitchy and up his own arse in his own self importance, when out and about.

I thought that was a bit cheeky of Sal slagging off Double Denim Kev for being interested in Natalie’s money. You need to look a bit closer to home for that kind of shenanigans Sally love…

'Ooooh Sally and Mikey, you may have got me banged up for now, but I will get you both one day'.

Vicky E is right about the quality of the writing, in modern day Corrie.
Jane Danson was hardly unbiased in her opinion of Corrie. She is unlikely to slate the show that employers her, despite how crap it is - or how crap she really thinks it is.

I was 'team Vicki' in that dispute, as she was spot on. You also have to look at Bev Callards disparaging comments about Corrie after she left. Sarah Lancashire and Thelma Barlow have hardly been positive about it either.

Yeah exactly this! You don't notice a change overtime and I forgot he was like that in the beginning
It’s the same thing with Gail I think in the classic Corrie she was a strong opinionated woman in modern Corrie they have made her a bit thick and a bit of a joke character I think. Love her in classic!

Today’s episodes really annoyed me why was Sally and Natalie both hanging on Samantha’s every word especially Natalie she knows Sams a liar.So stupid. Also why was Judy’s boss in the same support group as Zoe they have way too different types of mental health problems to be in the same group.Judy doesn’t look pregnant at all yet😆
Also Sam told Betty that she thought the voice on the hoax phonecall was Sally so I hope either Sally or Natalie get talking to Betty and it all comes out.

Sam has done a complete 360 from when she first joined the show: from an independent woman who knew her own mind, was not bothered about having sexual relationships and lived to the beat of her own drum to a sex crazed, bunny boiler, catnapping, lying, fruitloop

That was really the bulk of her TV work was it, her mum’s stuff? I think she did Emmerdale for a while but I haven’t seen her on anything in ages
Gaynor did Emmerdale a few years after she left Corrie. But in between and after her stints on soaps she has done a few of her mum’s stuff.

Where Dennis Waterman has a catchphrase bestowed upon him “write the feemtoon, sing the feemtoon” Gaynor’s seems to be “mums written it, I’ll appear on it”

All the characters mingled and worked well together. Ashley round at Curley’s with the guys yet he also interacts well with Maud. You had a big men group back then who all socialised whether married or single too. Most of the characters were likeable too, very few weren’t and they were written purposely dislikable like Lez and Linda.
Most of today’s characters aren’t good or likeable or work well together.

CC and Classic Emmerdale kept me going in the first lockdowns and I've continued with them. Luckily I have my own office so can get away with watching them at work. The Deidre/Jon storyline is GENIUS. Is it just me that thinks he's quite hot? He's got a chin dimple thing going on

Sally and Kev were probably the first long term couple to be split up. Followed by Mike and Alma, Gail and Martin, then Janice and Les.

The trend has followed since, with no married couple lasting more than a few years before they are split up for whatever reason - usually an affair.

A long and lasting marriage is non existent in modern day soaps.
Youre so right, I was just trying to think who actually stayed together, Jack and Vera!

Getting very near to the end of Alec Gilroy's 26 year association with Coronation Street. He leaves forever on 30th December 1998.

Obviously no chance of a return, with Roy Barraclough now having passed on.

He did one of my favourite scenes ever, I didnt remember it from first time, but watching CC I saw one of the best things ever.
It was the scene where Audrey drags Alf to the club , with Mike and who he was with I think , but the best part was Alf being fed up in one scene , and then at the end of the night he is on the dance floor, his hair is floppy and he is dancing with two women 😄😄

I loved it, cheers me up whenever I think of it

Sad to see him towards the end of his time on corrie 😪
fantastic character, one of my all time favourites
When I watched these episodes as a kid I thought Alf was boring but it's only when I watch them again through adult eyes I realised what a brilliantly natural actor he was. In fact, a lot of the characters I disliked them, I like now, such as Liz, Mike and Gail. And ones I liked, like Fiona, Steve and Vera i can't bear!

Where people use full names he shortens them and where people shorten their names he uses the full name... so he does
