Clarksons Farm - Amazon

I visited the farm shop the other week on the way back from a Cotswolds wedding and I was so impressed with how neat and tidy it looked. Nothing like the chaos shown on screen, but then again I visited was on a Monday just before closing time. There were maybe 5 others in the shop and it's a small place, so I can't imagine what it's like on a Saturday. Lots of other people milling about in the seating area enjoying the sun, taking photos with the big Clarksons Farm Amazon Prime sign. The cow juice machine was out of order 😂

If anyone goes to the shop, get the crisps. They're unreal. The new flavour mushroom and wild garlic was delish. I have yet to try my bee juice! Next time I will be prepared and book The Farmers Dog!
If you're unable to book the Farmer's dog,try the farmer's puppy. You can grab burgers and sausage rolls etc. No need to book.

Yes they did show the roof being taken down and he then said about the "budget umbrellas" being a better fit.

I did think "maybe you should have listened to the two women in the first place! Obviously they wanted the expensive option, but surely the failed canvas roof and the replacement" budget" umbrellas must not have been a cheaper option in the end. Silly Jeremy!
Ah.....thank you. Sorry I must have missed that bit. My mistake.

Just started the last episode....you've got to question anyone who turns up and queues for so long to go into a massively packed pub, especially with babies in tow.

Also more Charlie love just steadily working away and fixing issues without loosing his cool.

Kaleb is really coming across as unpleasant this series. It's such a shame. He was so innocent, wholesome and knowledgeable about farming back in the day that you had to admire someone so young but passionate about what they did.
His ego is showing big time and it's not a good look.

This is what I said too. Watched it with my partner who has worked extensively in hospitality over the years, including opening new venues, and although we were both shocked at the lack of a trial run, I also have a film/tv background and said we didn't know how much had been edited to fit the narrative they wanted to give on the show.

It still give me the absolute fear though seeing the crowds of people waiting for tables and there being no prices on the menu or any electricity! So disorganised. Hospitality trauma never leaves you :ROFLMAO:
Surely the kitchen would have had to have been inspected and signed off before opening? Literally bringing in food as the electricians are moving out is not going to happen.

You can do both. Do you never leave your local area to go somewhere different?
I honestly wouldn't drive 4 hours each way (which I've seen people do) to go to what is basically a country pub, which has a time-limit on how long I can sit down for and is about selling me merch.
I'd rather support a small business and a struggling local pub. It's a shame to me that the series hasn't pushed that message stronger I.e. this is what Clarkson is doing but if you look locally to you you'll see farmers directly supplying local pubs near you.

My cousin and her fiance drove 4 hours to see the farm shop and pub. They stayed at a local B&B for 2 nights, ate at local pubs/cafes whilst there. I know there will be day trippers but also a lot of people will stay over because of the distance, it's all good for the areas tourism I reckon.

Each to their own. Its good for a specific areas businesses but perhaps not the local population living there. It just would be nice if the message was not drive across the country to see this, rather go see what your local has to offer and buy direct from your local farm. I know not everyone lives near farms but there'll be something nearer than the farmers dog.
Its like driving to Starbucks when there's a nice local coffee shop round the corner.

I agree to an extent, but, if people go to Clarkson's Farm and like what they see, they're more likely to try and find something similar local to them rather than to have to travel everytime.
Some people need the actual experience in order to buy-in to the concept, rather than watching a programme and then saying "Oh, but there's one local to us, let's just go there".
I regularly use local farm shops, so may go to Diddly Squat when I'm in around the Cotswolds, but wouldn't make a special trip.
Anyway the programme or locations can bring attention to the plight of British farming and the challenges faced is a win.

I see what you're saying but they may well be doing both, travelling and going local.

I'm lucky enough to live near a few gorgeous "artisan" style shopping galleries and gorgeous local farm shops (The Owd Barn in Bispham is a favourite, for anyone local to Lancashire!), but will also travel to see Diddly Squat and go to the pub. I like to think that I'm a professional visitor of such establishments 😂

Also. People are allowed to do things just to make themselves happy too. And some people love going a ride in the car and Jeremy’s place is a good destination and motivation. I doubt a lot of people will repeatedly drive long distances to see and eat there. But good for them for getting out and making an effort.
I am sure the other 90% of the time they are doing more local things.

Finally finished series 4! Really enjoyed, even though it was an extra stressful season. A few thoughts:

Loved Harriet, what a breathe of fresh air. I hope she pops back next series. Agreed with everyone about Kaleb's attitude this series being a little off-putting.

I want to add to the love for Cheerful Charlie! What a bloke ♥

I thought it was weird that everyone working on the pub knew about the bank holiday deadline but no one checked their own calendars and realised they were going to have to open a week early?!

Does anyone else worry about Jeremy's health?? He's smoked all his life, he's 65 years old, not in great shape (sorry Jezza) and he's putting himself through a lot of stress and physical labour. I was worried he'd keel over and have a heart attack when he got super angry about the cattle gate thingies being left out by Kaleb. He can't even lie down to try and fix his tractor without his neck getting ducked!

Loved the fate of Richard Ham - what an adorable little pig (nice to see the real life Richard as well, that chrome tractor was a beauty)

I’ve watched it relatively recently, not finished s4 yet as it’s a bit dull. How contrived is it? Seeing Kaleb on tour seems very different to how he was portrayed in early series was that all a bit set up or exaggerated for the tv series or has Kaleb just seen the opportunity to make some money. Did he ‘audition’ for the role? He’s not coming across well this series. Harriet was nice but she’s from Derbyshire right so must have auditioned rather than applied for a regular job as there must be young female farmers in the Cotswolds already?
