Charlie deserves a medal honestly
They were awful. Horrible cowsJust catching the last couple of episodes of the series.
That pair of chancers who were supposed to be setting up the pub for Jeremy, what a useless pair of mats. Neither of them did anything other than spend huge sums of money. Neither of them thought to sort out pricing, left to Charlie at the last minute. They needed slapping and chucking out, never mind them threatening to kick Jeremy in the nuts. And frankly them walking out on opening weekend was the height of unprofessionalism.
I thought the chef was a bit of a head as well. Seemed to think his needs were the only ones that mattered.
Jeremy bit off too much trying to open so quickly, but those women didn't help anything.
Charlie is just a bleeping hero!
Jeremy should have had a bloody good project manager, and brought in advice from industry experts (not those two)They were awful. Horrible cows![]()
Yeah couldn’t agree more! They were all smiles when they thought they had a rich client who would spend endless amounts of cash, but when they were expected to do some work they just became two horrible bleeps. The one who told him to go into the kitchen when he had literally just beenJust catching the last couple of episodes of the series.

Would like to think that even Jeremy wouldn't want them to have a bad edit as he seems to value hard work but I bet that's the best they could get! Let's hope any new clients of theirs watch this and realise what they might be in for.Just catching the last couple of episodes of the series.

Yes they did show the roof being taken down and he then said about the "budget umbrellas" being a better fit.I noticed no mention was made of the canvas roof on the outside decking area being replaced with the giant umbrellas he was advised to splash out on in the first place. They couldn't help showing this had been done though by those inevitable shots they had to include of people dining out under them on opening day.
I do wonder if they left or if he got rid!Just catching the last couple of episodes of the series.

He didn’t replace the sail with the £40,000 jumberellas. He put in normal parasols.I noticed no mention was made of the canvas roof on the outside decking area being replaced with the giant umbrellas he was advised to splash out on in the first place. It's been reported that Clarkson is worth about 50 million quid, so I could only think that his constant bulking at the price of things on these large scale projects is purely for theatre. With that kind of backing these costs would be peanuts.
There's also lots of editing involved for drama/entertainment. Was all that clearing up really happening as people were queuing waiting to get in? Or was it actually separate days? Please remember that what you see is so heavily edited for TV, and also that you don’t know what Clarkson and his team asked for. The pub staff probably did want to delay opening, do a soft launch etc but often when the gaffer sets their mind to something they won’t change it, and they won’t listen to you if you warn them why it’s a bad idea.
I’ve seen it so many times: CEO’s or big bosses setting ridiculous arbitrary deadlines for things and then yelling when everything goes wrong because it was rushed or under tested.
This is what I said too. Watched it with my partner who has worked extensively in hospitality over the years, including opening new venues, and although we were both shocked at the lack of a trial run, I also have a film/tv background and said we didn't know how much had been edited to fit the narrative they wanted to give on the show. There's also lots of editing involved for drama/entertainment. I visited the farm shop the other week on the way back from a Cotswolds wedding and I was so impressed with how neat and tidy it looked. Nothing like the chaos shown on screen, but then again I visited was on a Monday just before closing time. There were maybe 5 others in the shop and it's a small place, so I can't imagine what it's like on a Saturday. Lots of other people milling about in the seating area enjoying the sun, taking photos with the big Clarksons Farm Amazon Prime sign. The cow juice machine was out of orderIt's Clarkson's thing though isn't it, all the jeopardy, disasters and 'what could possibly go wrong' ideas, then the turnaround. It was the same with the farm shop and yet people kept going. Not sure how it's doing now though.
