I’ve been putting £50 a month away in a savings account for Christmas, doesn’t seem like much but come December it’s an extra £600 to help with gifts, food etc. Just treated myself to the Boots advent calendar as the full size products are some which I use anyway so seems like a good saving!

Yes to lots of lights! I hate it when they look sparse on the lights! I too also only have the tree on most nights rather than lamps etc

Wrapping needs to be in December, Christmas tree lights on, and a glass of something alcoholic although I have boxes wrapped under the tree every year in my colour scheme as soon as the tree goes up in November. Don’t put any real presents under the tree. Santa stuff stays hidden and family gifts wrapped and in gift bags in my room.

This! Wrapping needs to be a baileys, Christmas tree lights and candle situation with a Christmas film on the telly!

I follow them on TikTok. I LOVE them. All the 90s decorations, shops, adverts, songs. I wish we could have Christmas like that again. Going out to the shops with your mum in December, freezing cold, buying presents, wrapping paper, being treated to lunch. Hearing all the Christmas songs in the shops, home for Saturday night TV. Every advert bringing the magic, from Argos to Boots to Tesco. Staring at the lights on the tree. Miss it so so much. I always tried to recreate this as much as I could for my kids but it will never be the same. School was an absolute joy the whole of December. Singing Christmas songs, practicing nativity, making decorations and cards, Christmas lunch, just the best time.

I try and do this for my kids too! It will never be the same sadly but I do a lot of baking/hot chocolate/crafting in the hopes it keeps some of it alive I do miss the days where you had to go shopping to get presents as I basically get everything from Amazon now fond memories of walking round BHS with my mum buying grandparent gifts!

My mum and dad haven't changed anything up since the 70s, 80s at a push. When they decorate I'll try and take a photo of all their ancient boxed pifco lights ✨️ .

The robin designs are lovely, aren’t they! I got the mugs and bedding for my parents last year I think Sainsbury’s has the best Christmassy bits imo!

My favourite sale purchase from a couple years ago was this reindeer jug which vomits gravy..



Those plates are beautiful too, I love the unique shape! But I’d feel so nervous incase I scratched or chipped them 🫣

I think the most expensive Christmas homeware I’ve bought is a pair of Emma Bridgewater mugs, but I got them reduced. Still I’m extra careful when I use them!

I can understand feeling nervous when it's pricer. I personally decided that I was going to stop waiting for X or Y to happen before allowing myself to have nicer things. I don't save anything for later/ best anymore either. I developed an obsession with Cornishware two years ago. The red and adder green can be used for Christmas and all year around. I bought mainly from their seconds range which does have minor imperfections, but they're rarely super noticeable. Small things that bring joy.

The foil decorations sellotaped to the ceiling my nana always had these little tree decorations which were basically polystyrene wrapped up to look like presents. I was always dying to open them!

I wanted to ask if anyone has ever done an alternative christmas?

We've been invited to a relatives again and I'm really not feeling it. The baby will be 6 months old, everyone bar me will be boozing and there was a lot of fall out last year because of the family divide - everyone speaks to each other except for one (its deserved) and so they weren't invited and they ended up alone (I did call in on my way home with the kids to wish them a merry Christmas and have a brew to be fair). Anyway, I just cant be doing with the inevitable trouble that will follow. The family are still going on 5 months later about it

I was thinking of doing a buffet party for me, Crapbag and our kids and we just spend the day at home in pyjamas eating shite with our phones off playing games etc. Has anyone done this? Was it shit or good? I know the kids would love to spend the day with their cousins and so I dont know what to do for best really. Advice/tips appreciated!

We are currently house hunting and the first thing I think is "where would the Christmas tree go" and "does this house layout allow me to have two trees". Mr HoneyStar can deal with the boring stuff like boilers and surveys, I'll focus on the important bits

I love the dark nights, especially with the Halloween and Christmas decs up. Love not seeing my neighbours I love when it’s really cold too, been disappointed in the last few winters.

Sainsbury’s has reduced all their Christmassy food and home bits again! Found this cute dinner set for £11, my mum and dad are chuffed with it

They still have a mountain of mince pies left, going to wait for them to be discounted more. Gives me time to get through the other goodies I bought

I was obsessed with this range. I bought the creamer jug, bowls and side plates individually the previous Christmas. We don't use the main plates as they are too large for us. I bought two matching mugs this year when they were priced at £3 something. I bought an extra cup in store after Christmas and it scanned through at £1.50.

I'm trying not to buy the bedding which is super cute and also in clearance because I don't need it. I upgraded the old bedding and bedsheets recently.

The Sainsbury's set is cheaper than the Spode Christmas Tree set which is on sale at M&S.

I have also lusted after the Toy's delight range by villeroy, but it's £25+ a plate.

We've ALWAYS had tinsel & lamenta, Mr2 insists as it's reminiscent of our Christmases growing up....

Last year we bought garlands for the ceiling & they were a great hit. Tacky maybe but we loved them & family appreciated the nostalgia too.
