Strictly Saturday nights with Halloween decorations then Christmas decorations. Alcohol, takeaway and M&S treats. All cosy with the heating on. Couldn’t pay me to go out.

Christmas has always been my celebration in the family, the one time of year where everyone knows I’ve gone miles past my budget but I love to see people smile. My mum passed away just after Christmas 2024 and I couldn’t bare to celebrate last year. I did the bare minimum because I have small children but this year I can feel my spark coming back. I’m looking at presents, looking at my budget (which will be ignored). I love this thread it makes me smile everytime I’m on here x

I’ve just started following a couple of instagram
accounts which are all about nostalgic Christmas in the 80s/90s. Giving me proper feel good vibes and remaining me of things I’d long forgotten!

I follow them on TikTok. I LOVE them. All the 90s decorations, shops, adverts, songs. I wish we could have Christmas like that again. Going out to the shops with your mum in December, freezing cold, buying presents, wrapping paper, being treated to lunch. Hearing all the Christmas songs in the shops, home for Saturday night TV. Every advert bringing the magic, from Argos to Boots to Tesco. Staring at the lights on the tree. Miss it so so much. I always tried to recreate this as much as I could for my kids but it will never be the same. School was an absolute joy the whole of December. Singing Christmas songs, practicing nativity, making decorations and cards, Christmas lunch, just the best time.

I’m going to start Christmas shopping I’m going on maternity leave in September and won’t have the funds after that, so here it goes

I’m not sure if I’m ashamed or proud to say I’ve almost finished my Christmas shopping for my 2 kids. Aside from deciding on their “big” present (either a 3D printer or electric scooters), I have almost everything bought and stored away

I’ve been busy-bee organising my December. So far we have 5 days in Edinburgh (I live in Ireland for reference) for the market and festivities, and my snobby foodie husband will book us some lovely dinners. And we’re staying at the Caledonian which should be all decked out for Xmas!

Then my sister and I are going to London for a couple of days. We’ve booked a 3-course Victorian immersive Christmas dinner where you dress as a Victorian and have an authentic Victorian Xmas dinner amongst an interactive performance of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. We’re also going to see The Cursed Child — we’re both lifelong potterheads so it’s mad we’ve never seen it! — and a bit of Christmas shopping around town.

After that it’s up to Dublin for the annual big panto and the day at Elf Town for the little one, meet Santa etc. We stay overnight and also get a nice festive dinner.

And then I’m taking my little one back to London for Hogwarts in the Snow and some festive fun in central.

I also live in the town in Ireland that puts on Winterval every year, which is a big month long Christmas festival full of events and festivities across the whole town. Always loads to do.

Absolutely buzzing and can’t wait!! I think this is our last year of the youngest believing in Santa and Christmas magic, and my oldest is 20 now and cba with any of it anymore, so I need to make the most of it while I still can.

Spent the past couple of days unpacking my cupboards and getting out any Autumn/Halloween stuff as I was sorting them out. My mantra is everything has to earn it's place.
It's amazing how much I'm getting rid of. Some really nice stuff, I just don't reach for it.
I'm thinking of taking it all to a tabletop sale after I've sussed out what happens at these places.
Decided whilst I'm doing all this to put all my Easter stuff together, ditto with the summer stuff too, even down to baking stuff.
I'm hoping to move and do not want to be taking a load of stuff I don't use to my next house.

ETA. The Christmas stuff has its own dedicated cupboard.

Honestly the only thing I like about summer and the heat is getting my washing out to dry I love the heat on holiday but it’s no fun over here with no air con and trying to work and cook in it. Nearly August.

I’m so excited!! I’ve bought most of my presents (going on maternity leave in October and going to be broke so haven’t had a choice really!). I’m a massive autumn person, I hate summer with a passion so I find myself dreaming about pumpkins, cold weather, scarves, candles, dark nights and fairy lights.

I slowly started replacing our main ones in 2024. The M&S ones are still going strong and I have no complaints about the IKEA ones either.

I’m currently lusting after piglet in bed bedding, but the price point is still too high even with the 20% discount.

My rule is one on the bed, one drying and one in the wash per bed.

my anecdote about Piglet in Bed, I wanted some for years and my mum kept saying the price is crazy don't bother getting any, then I ended up with a voucher on the website somehow, so I ordered some pillow cases. They are the most uncomfortable pillow cases I've ever had, they are so rough and felt like my face was burning, I lost my mum in December and wanted to tell her, as usual she was bloody right
