So do I, something I really want usually a piece of jewellery from somewhere like Monica Vinader so that if all my other presents are pants I won’t be entirely disappointed!
Same, I buy my own presents, wrap them and tell my husband that it is from him
He is horrible at buying gifts and always says he doesn't know what to get me. I buy my own presents and then I get the money back from my dad. So I have something I really want and like.
I do always think the run up to Christmas is way better than Christmas Day itself. It’s never like I have it pictured in my head.

Totally agree. I still enjoy Christmas day regardless but the lead up is so much more fun than the day itself
Always a traditional fruit cake, same as you with marzipan and icing. My husband loves it, I'm not a fan. He always gets so excited on December 1st when he can start taking it in his packed lunch to work
What advent calenders do you all go for? Traditional cardboard, chocolate one, make up, tea?
I've been having a look through the beauty ones and think I might treat myself this year. I always get my children the playmobil or lego ones, usually bought in the January sale but I totally forgot to look this year!

I really like the asos and rituals ones! If I was rich I would buy both asos (12 and 24 days) and both rituals (2D and 3D) calendars.

I usually just get the kids one with chocolate from Aldi. But I think this year I might get me a beauty one.
We got a wooden one last year. But because the doors aren't sealed, like the paper/ plastic ones, I found myself sneaking an extra day here and there. In all honesty, I must have replaced the contents of that calendar about 5-6 times throughout December

And a previous colleague made Nigella's chocolate Christmas cake and said it as fab. They are expensive things to make, though, aren't they? I make date and walnut loaf from an old Be-Ro book which is really tasty along with a lemon and orange cake and a gorgeous chocolate one (all Be-Ro!). I haven't bothered in recent years as it does feel like an effort when you can buy them so cheaply but goodness knows this is the year to treat yourself and those you love!

I usually get a build your own hamper from here and have one sweet every day in the run up to Christmas. Naughty but it's only once a year. I would say wait...my son wanted a gaming thing last year and I waited and saved £80I love hearing all of your traditions! Tell me more!! I don’t have many traditions with my husband yet and I want to set some in stone before we have kids
also, with present buying- do any of you wait for Black Friday for deals? My partner wants a Nintendo switch this year and I’m torn between buying now so it’s done or hoping for a Black Friday deal to get it cheaper
I saw the lush one, that's a stretch too far for me. I'm terrible at spending money on myself at the best of times. Wish they would have done a 12 days one aswell, but i could make my own

Sometimes it's cheaper to look now. Check the prices now to see how many games are being offered too, then you know if you are getting a better deal come Black Friday. The new X-Box and PS5 are being released soon, so the Switch might try some extra deals (the Switch is the beal selling console and they sold out over lockdown)also, with present buying- do any of you wait for Black Friday for deals? same. And the stress of deciding what to wear I bought another Xmas gift yesterday Im starting earlier then normal because if we get locked down then at least my family have one gift each to open.
