He was ASLEEP! So even if this is what HE SAID it is not something HE COULD HAVE KNOWN, merely assume, as he was SLEEPING!
He could not have SEEN it as he was SLEEPING with his EYES CLOSED.
And the effing POLICE could not determine what object was used.

No matter how many times you say the same thing it does not make it more true.

Sorry, but if you are unable to read or understand my previous posts I will not correspond with you any further as it is a waste of time.

This is what was said above. Maybe he assumed she hit him with a lamp, as a lamp was nearby/next to the bed, but he could not have known as he was asleep.

There was no "smashed" lamp in the photos.
Omg you are ridiculous now. I can’t with your ranting

Lamp and/or phone, I'm sure we can agree to disagree that Lewis did not deserve an unprovoked assault whilst sleeping, whether he was directly hit by a lamp or inadvertently hit by a phone.

It's clear that whatever caused Caroline to do either, she was evidently an incredibly troubled person.

And yes it's hard to excuse what she did when up to the last moment her loved ones tried to get her help and she refused, but the reason why she probably refused help was due to her poor mental state.

Good post. Never seen such an argumentative thread 🙈🤣

I think it is problematic though if something is being stated repeatedly as a fact when it is simply not known.

And I do think that from a legal perspective it makes a difference - if she flicked the phone at him after finding something that upset her it is far less incriminating than hitting him with a heavier object in cold blood.

This is also why the report circles in on this.

i don't think it is fair to spread false facts about a person that can no longer defend herself and that most likely killed herself because she was unable to deal with these sorts of rumours.

The article also states that she did not want to go to hospital because she feared the press would pick it up.
This is why the coroner found that she killed herself because of the fear of the media and publicity.

I am also surprised that people have so little sympathy for her.

But just because they couldn't agree on what the object was, doesn’t mean it’s false facts to state it was a lamp. Lewis said it was a lamp, Caroline said it was a phone. She’s no longer here and as it never went to trial we will never actually know, so people are going to fill in the blanks and make up their own minds. Anyway, for most people what the object was is irrelevant. Whatever it was, was thrown in such fury and force that it caused a wound. I think everyone here is aware of your stance by now so repeating yourself every second post is kind of futile.

Yes, it is stating a false fact to say something that has not been proven. If it is not known it cannot be stated as a fact and could be defamation.

I am tired of repeating myself, but I cannot fathom why someone would tell me "It was a lamp. A lamp." when I had just linked a legal analysis of the coroner's report and quoted that the police said that they did not know.
Why do people still insist that what they want to believe is the objective truth? I really cannot fathom it.

I am happy to accept that she could have hit him with anything, why are others so fixated on the lamp? I am truly puzzled.
Is this how cancel culture works, you take your own subjective opinion and cannot consider the official conclusion to condemn a person?

It also troubles me if it is not corrected, but maybe because I have a legal background and find it more concerning than most other people if things are said that are not correct.

“Flicking” a phone at someone wouldn’t cut their head open, especially as it wasn’t his face, it was on the top of his head which is specifically thick to protect your brain from injury! Throwing it probably would.

The CPS had every right to decide to prosecute, mitigating circumstances would have been considered at court. If it had reached trial or if she’d have pled guilty.

the suggestion that people don’t feel sympathy is incorrect, most people feel sympathy for the fact she was suffering from some serious mental health issues throughout her life that eventually lead to a successful suicide attempt (remembering she had tried before also). I personally feel extremely sorry for her, but I do not think the blame lies with the CPS or the media. I don’t actually think the “blame” lies anywhere. It was a really unfortunate, sad situation.
I also believe even if she hadn’t have ended her life that day, it was very likely to come at some point. She was refusing to get help. You cannot help someone in crisis who refuses to help themselves.

In the old documentary her mother said she did seek treatment over the years but had to use different Dr’s etc so the press didn’t find out.

Are you her twin sister? 😜

The Coroner didn’t purely say media she said ill health first.

I haven't even heard from her prior to her killing herself!

I had linked the article with the quote from the coroner above and am linking it again with the verbatim quote from the examining coroner highlighted in bold:

According to the coroner, Ms Flack’s mental health deteriorated following her arrest. 'I find the reason for her taking her life was she now knew she was being prosecuted for certain and she knew she would face the media, press, publicity – it would all come down upon her. To me, that’s it in essence'.

That's desperately sad, we've had the same conversation on the Liam Payne thread (I've actually got BPD/ADHD and personally I think both Caroline and Liam certainly show traits of one/either).

Neither of them would have been successfully sectioned to protect them from themselves/others within our current mental health system 😞

No matter what either of them did, they didn't deserve their fates, but it'd take a massive overhaul that I don't think the UK could currently manage to stop this happening again.

I 100% agree. It was clear throughout her life that she sought out, but was entirely unable to cope with fame. She showed many signs of BPD; in that her behaviour in relationships was extreme and at times dangerous, but she was also incredibly charismatic and charming. She attracted fame but it exacerbated so many issues for her. Her highs were euphoric, but her lows were absolutely soul crushing for her. I imagine that is why she never stepped away from fame for any long period of time - she hated the downsides but the highs were simply too good to resist.

I sadly know from experience that people who fluctuate in such a way and don't get help will eventually hit a low that they cannot escape from. It just so happened that it was the night with Burton that began her final spiral down. Just as @thegrumpos says, if it hadn't been then, it would have been coming had nothing changed in her life.

The media didn’t kill Caroline - her m/h issues did. Simple as.

100%. Even prior to fame (in college) her parents note she had attempted suicide after a relationship failed. Fame was hideously bad for her and exacerbated her behaviour, but the underlying issues were there from the start.

The media is a disgusting institution, they definitely went to town over her downfall. 100% they love to see a woman being ripped down. We’ve seen it time and time again how some celebs will get absolutely vilified (sometimes quite rightly) and others will get off a lot lighter.

That said, I’ve always thought “live by the sword, die by the sword”. CF courted the media when it suited her, she was part of that world. She chose to be in an industry where your every move would be under scrutiny, had relationships with very high profile men etc. She did not simply present her programmes then pop off for a nice quiet home life out of the spotlight. She craved and wanted the life she had and she accepted what it came with - even though it was no doubt awful at times.

Doesn’t mean in anyway that the media don’t have a part to play, they made that situation so much worse than it needed to be. However, the flip side of negative intrusive press is glamorous media events, paid for interviews, magazine spreads and articles etc. And that is what CF had used to elevate her career from regular presenter to “UK A list” friend of the stars.
I think her legal team and courts are to blame for her death. Given the state she was found in when the police arrived and she was filmed in bleeding and in a state of undress, when CPS decided to prosecute (which I have no problem with) knowing they intended to use the body cam footage in public court would cripple anyone with terror let alone someone as well known as CF. You just couldn’t live through it. Her legal team/courts should have reassured her the case would be heard in private chambers with no press allowed. They do this all the time for Katie Price, she just pleads she is too well known. It’s one thing punishing it’s another making an example of someone to cause such stress and embarrassment.

It's an interesting take on society that a woman gets charged with domestic violence to a partner and we're all told #bekind.

Did she ever act violently with previous partners I wonder?
In that period of time after being arrested and taking her life her ex Andrew Brady was posting about her being abusive to him, but did a complete 180 when she died and almost beatified her and was gunning for Dan Wooton. I think he went off the rails completely and ended up getting arrested for his posts
