I must admit I didn't think she was a very good presenter any time I saw her. Found her irritating.

So I just looked it up and it seems like her ex claimed that he had been hit with a lamp whereas CF said that she made a flicking gesture with her phone to wake him up. It was found that there was no clear admission of guilt, which is why the responsible detective recommended a prosecution

She claimed the blood on the bed in the infamous photo was 'her blood'. Was this a lie?

She claimed the blood on the bed in the infamous photo was 'her blood'. Was this a lie?
The article says that when officers arrived at the scene she had self-harmed, so it was not a lie, it was her blood but she had harmed herself (by cutting herself with glas according to the BBC).

The BBC article from the inquest says that her ex only had a head wound, the Daily Fail and others described it as a minor injury, a "scratch".

---
So you still blame the media even though her mother and sister mentioned all the previous times she self harmed or attempted suicide after relationship break downs?
The coroner found the following:

"According to the coroner, Ms Flack’s mental health deteriorated following her arrest. 'I find the reason for her taking her life was she now knew she was being prosecuted for certain and she knew she would face the media, press, publicity – it would all come down upon her. To me, that’s it in essence'."

---
She was a woman in the public eye who smacked a sleeping boyfriend over the head with a lamp. Of course there was press attention. She could have killed him.
The inquest could not establish whether she hit him with a lamp:

"However, it appears that by the time of this second review, whatever Mr Burton had told the police in the 999 call, the prosecution was unable to prove whether it was a lamp, desk fan or phone that caused the injury to his head."

I don't think there was ever any real suggestion that she did something like stand over him whilst he was asleep and hit him with the lamp. It was reported originally that she'd thrown it, not directly at him but that it had hit him or cut him as it fell after hitting the wall (still bad). It was later reported she'd thrown a phone. This was all really early on after it happened. I've tried to find the initial articles but I can't seem to.

They put a headline about being hit with a lamp and it then became 'fact'. In fairness to Lewis, given he was meant to have been asleep, he may well have thought she hit him over the head. How would you be able to decipher a situation like that? He was injured, items were smashed. It's a reasonable assumption.

Whilst you can't endanger people by throwing heavy objects in their direction (which would rightly be considered abusive), I think she was more of a danger to herself that night than she was to him. We'll never know what his true motives were but it's possible he was scared, felt out of his depth and just wanted her to get some help.

I find it irritating but not surprising how some tv personalities and celebs get almost canonised after their death. All their antics and behaviours brushed under the carpet after their untimely and sad demise. I get it, I honestly do. But the media didn’t make her kill herself, the media interest was there because she was the high profile presenter of the most well known dating show at the time, a show about finding love, and she courted the press as much as any contestant on the show.

A new one on Disney + detailing the last 24 hrs of her life and if her suicide could have been avoided.

Going on her past history, I would say not!
I hate programmes like this. It isn’t going to bring her back or change the outcome. It’s people looking for a payday from a deceased woman with severe mental health problems.

Yes, I agree.

It could have been that he was sleeping when she found a text that angered her on a phone, she "flicked" or threw the phone at his head whilst he was sleeping to confront him.
He woke up from the hit to his head, obviously disoriented, and might have thought she hit him with the lamp.
And that he then called the police to tell them that (although he could not have known what had hit him, given that he was asleep).
The argument then escalates and CF hurts herself, then the officers arrive.
CF tells them she flicked the phone at him when they ask her what she has done. He had told them on the phone he was hit by a lamp.
In the absence of CCTV footage and given that it could not be proven what object had made contact with his head we can only speculate.
His injury was minor, this had been established. He did not have a cracked skull as was initially reported.
For some reason he takes a photo of the bloody bed and sends it to his ex-girlfriend, who sells it to the Sun Newspaper.
CF is upset about this. The media has a field day.
The police first wants to caution her, but upon review decides to prosecute.

Am I a dafty for thinking does it matter which object or was? Obv a lamp is bigger but lamp/phone/other random household item? She threw something at him when he was asleep therefore wanting to inflict pain whatever object it was

Maybe there are people that can identify with her and that have an interest in the circumstances of her death.

I think that there are more volatile relationships and emotionally unstable people that we are aware of, as their volatility only comes out in intimate relationships, not at work or with friends.

It is not even sure that CF "threw" something at him, she said she had "flicked" her phone at him.. She could have held it in her hand and flicked it against his head.

I think it matters to some extend. For her to take a lamp or something else to hit him with indicates a certain amount of planning or premeditation, if she flicked the phone at him after she read a text that made her believe he cheated then this was more in the moment.

That's not being emotionally unstable though, if you can control and direct that instability against only certain people, that is just being abusive.

Did CF ever explode at work, did she ever act unstable in the workplace and lose opportunities because of that? Did she ever attack a coworker? I'm asking sincerely as I don't know much about her work history, but if she could control her reactions towards those who held more power than her, those that could inflict professional consequences then that speaks volumes.

She threw something at his head when he was asleep, hard enough that it drew blood. I don’t think that’s in doubt is it?

Flicked? That is quite a strange description of an action. sounds like someone trying to play down their actions imo.

I did not read that her ex bled, only that he had a minor injury that the Daily Fail described as a "scratch".
The coroner's report does not specify that.

I don't know that, but it is most often intimate relationships in which these kind of situations incur. i once heard a psychologist explaining why, but i cannot remember the reason for that. Maybe something to do with the "inner child"?

I think it's more that it seems she didn't throw it directly at him to hurt him, she threw it in his general direction. That in itself is dangerous (and as I said, rightly was seen as abusive behaviour) but it is different to her deliberately hitting him with an item from close proximity (ie: stood above him with a lamp).

can we all just agree that a partner hit another partner with a hard object whilst they were sleeping and the semantics of what it was and the method of hitting them is irrelevant as it is still domestic violence?

Caroline Flack and Jade ‘The Racist’ Goodie’s obtaining sainthood does my head in.

Don’t say anything though, just ‘be kind’, with a phone/lamp/object to your partners head whilst they sleep and can’t defend themselves.

It’s definitely not just a scratch. It’s a wound that prob had quite a lot of bleeding. Yes his head isn’t hanging off but it doesn’t have to be in order for the attack to be considered assault. He was also asleep and she was rooting through his phone when she decided to throw something at him. It’s not an injury consistent with flicking a phone at someone either, imo. In my opinion she was standing over him and hit him with something, possibly a lamp with force

Really weird that a couple of people on this thread is riding so hard for CF. Like do they have some skin in the game? Do they act the same in private? It's bleeping weird. She intentionally did something to him whilst he was sleeping, at his most vulnerable and unable to defend himself
