Eurgh the daughter is on the news crying about online trolls!
The reporter, wrapping up the interview: “Thank you for lending him to us for the last ten months”. 🤢 Really? This is serious reporting?
She was quick to get in that she was looking forward to bringing us some exciting things in the months to come. Of course she is.

Never been on this thread before, but I was looking through kids books in the shop for Christmas today , and I saw a book about Tom Moore in a collection with historical figures such as Rosa Parks, Ann Frank & Martin Luther King… how on earth does he even compare to those people 🥴🥴
Especially Rosa Parks. She refused to get off a bus whereas Tom's daughter has jumped on every bandwagon going.

Omg I have found my people!

He did a nice thing, he got some publicity, for it, fab, no issue with that at all, everyone likes an OAP but why on earth are we expected to adore him forever now? People are out there doing amazing things every single without any of this carry on.

Why the hell, when I turned on my radio this afternoon were the crowd at Wimbledon giving his creepy daughter a round of applause? Why is she even there?

That's who we should be praising and clapping for. And many others like him. Not rich old men and their families who use everything as a publicity stunt and then fuck off to the Caribbean as a big old slap in the face to every NHS worker out there. That family are well off and they did not experience the same pandemic we did, they were a clear line that sat between rich and poor. It is further proof that we were never 'all in the same boat', they were on a luxury yacht while some people were struggling to swim.

OT slightly feel free to scroll past

The clapping really bothered me, it was just a dick swinging contest (as I've said before) and these key workers came out and said they didn't want it, they wanted to be paid, they wanted to be able to live. They didn't want to be heroes, they wanted humility. I took part in the minutes silence, I didn't take part in the candle-lit vigil (controversial) because what was the point? I know it's a nice thing to do but so many of those deaths were preventable if the government acted faster and had a proper lockdown from the beginning. Candles, clapping, gongs, fireworks will do nothing for the deaths of over 126,000 people, for their friends, families, colleagues. Because no one really cares, or they would've stuck to lockdown. My mums best friends husband died the other day. The day after that people were meeting in gardens and parks, getting trashed, having fights. That poor woman had sat at her husbands bedside for 21 days (she worked at the hospital, she's not just really wealthy and over publicised like Tom) begging for him to wake up, his granddaughter was born and he never met her. No amount of 'freedom' or Capt Tom statues will bring her husband back. It's time to focus on the real issues, not just this glorified old man and his glory seeking family.
Praise People who have done so much for charity; praise those that have suffered and conquered......Moore, he did a walk and it might sound unfair of me to say this, but there are people who have been doing real hard work and throughout most of their lives to raise awareness and money for good causes. Well done to Tom doing what he did but it became tasteless when his PR made it about him. I don't know anything about the man's history but why did he warrant a children's book? TV appearances? The glory? The knighthood? The unquestioned holiday during the pandemic? (Covered in these threads already) fireworks at NYE? and yet the beatification doesn't stop by his PR and the gullible.

with regards to clapping, I was a naive one, sucked into/brainwashed into doing it (not realising it was expected every flipping week 😂). My eyes started opening slowly including when i saw the scenes on Westminster bridge, the police cars stopped and everyone including Cressida Dick clapping merrily along.
Me clapping like a loon what did that actually achieve? Me staying at home was doing my bit for the NHS.
The year has been the worst and I won't be emotionally blackmailed anymore into following any kind of slactivism just because I've been told I should.
I will honour the dead and also those that have helped out during this pandemic how I choose to and not because Facebook or trending says do it like this.

Wtaf have I just seen ... I just think it’s offensive more than anything. The Poppy is to remember all the soldiers that fought and lost their lives. Why should 1 person get their own poppy? I just really don’t understand 🤦🏼‍♀️

I keep noticing this thread is active and every time, I think what are they talking about, he's dead.

So today I looked and oh my fucking god. This woman is still seriously trying to profit off her poor deceased father. Let it go.

I still can’t believe someone who went on holiday during a pandemic and looks like he caught it on holiday probably at the airport / plane on the way home (the families sketchy timeline says it all) has been given a heroes funeral right now despite all the restrictions for us mere peasants
exactly....i cant believe vast amounts of the country defended this with "it wasnt illegal at the time"and how dare anyone question or begrudge a 100 year old a jolly to Barbados because he raised all that money for the NHS!
it wasnt illegal but it wasnt advised or essential either! Its the hypocrisy of the whole saga especially when the family had the cheek to say to people not to go to the funeral and to stay at home and protect the NHS! 🤦‍♀️

Not to sound like I have a photo of the poor fella on a dartboard regarding Tom but people have gone far too overboard.
I personally felt that the little boy Tony deserved a lot more than what he got, he overcame being abused by his parents and having his legs amputated to raise money for the hospital that looked after him if I personally find his story more inspiring and heroic than walking up and down your garden.
I think Tony should get more recognition maybe a selection of toys or games or whatever he wants,or a holiday post lockdown. A 100year old Indian man and a 91year old Welshman also raisedomey by walking and got no recognition. Then again they are the wrong class and not English and haven't got a daughter in marketing with good contacts.

I cannot stand this woman! Surely there has to be someone in the family to tell her to stop making a show of herself and to leave her father rest in peace? Tbh I know this sounds horrible but I hate being reminded of the early days of the pandemic and that is what his stroll around the garden reminds me of… I think we have all acknowledged that he done a good thing but can she and everyone else who is still going on about him just shut the fuck up! 😫

His family are loving the “trolling” they are getting so it can keep them relevant for a bit longer. Although I believe 99.9% of “trolling” is comments about them money grabbing and taking him on holiday during a pandemic with just the odd genuine trolling comment like the man in that article. Still a complete waste of police time, have they not heard of the block button? They shouldn’t even be on Toms social media now he’s passed away anyway

I do hate this grasping and parasitic family. They have milked every last drop of their Dad’s good deed. His funeral was completely over the top and the half-mast flags and general mourning associated with the man. A man nobody had ever bloody well heard of a year ago. Get a bloody grip, he was not the Nations Grandfather! My thoughts are with those families who have had limited access to their loved ones during this pandemic, not some old boy who already had a privileged background and clearly had friends in the right places! There were plenty of heroes during WW2, many of whom didn’t even get recognised for their part they played in it.

So if this funeral was a private affair, how come the media companies filmed it?

This family should feel shame that they have STILL had these privileges bestowed upon them.

I really do hope they now finally fuck off! 😂

Its absolutely nauseating her going on about him still. She's very false and the nation needs to move on from hearing about any angle of this story. Enough is enough. Helen needs to concentrate now on her family and day job not on becoming the next Amanda Holden.

I know it's been said before but the collective hysteria over a 100 year old man dying after a holiday in Barbados during a pandemic compared to say, the loss of life at Grenfell really sums up this country in 2021.
Yeah people don't give a shit about the poor and powerless but salivate over anyone rich combined with being in the military. Instead of money for a bloody statue anything raised should be going on a public cause like a foodbank or in the pot to help victims of the cladding scandal.

I heard the Michael Ball / Captain Tom "You'll Never Walk Alone" "song" for the first time yesterday. Absolutely atrocious. You can tell they just handed him the words and said "read this out" and then they've used autotune to make his voice go higher on the odd word here and there. Just sounded terrible. The poor man having to give up his dignity while being so desperately and relentlessly milked so hard.
