When I was 14, 30 years ago when the Blur vs Oasis thing was all over the news I def much preferred Blur of the two, and had a massive black and white picture of Damon sitting in a fence on my wall...

I saw both Oasis and Blur live a couple of times each back in the 90s.
Much better and "rockier" atmosphere at the Oasis gigs. Once ye dodged the pints of piss being flung about!
My favourite Blue album was Leisure. I really didn't like the whole Girls and Boys/Park life/cockney lad sound.
Oasis to me were just raw energy. And it has survived over the decades. IMO anyway

I think you've knocked the nail on the head abour ladrock and the end of Britpop. No-one goes to see a band to get piss thrown at them.
I loved both bands in the 90s and still do now. Back then I loved the drama of Blur vs Oasis
but as time has gone on, I realised that both bands are so different, it’s pointless to compare them.@The Yoko Ono of GY

I flew all the way from Austria to London in 2023 for Blur and wouldn't have done the same for Oasis in 2025. I always thought, since Blur's music evolved more, they would stand the test of time better, but at the same time, this hinders 90s nostalgia to develop as much maybe, which is big atm as we know.
Comparing Blur and Oasis is like comparing apples with oranges. Either way, Blur won the battle but Oasis won the war.I loved both bands in the 90s and still do now. Back then I loved the drama of Blur vs Oasis
They were musically so different anyway, I think Oasis have more broad appeal and Blur changed what they were doing quite a lot in their later albums.

Another interesting point for me is: There was a bit of a britpop-me too going on, wasn't it. When I went to see blur in 2023, it felt a bit wrong to support someone like Coxon. I never heard something as bad about the Gallaghers though (except Paul Gallagher lately). Did you? So after all it seems, the nice guy (among those lot) is not the introverted, sensitive quirky one, but the loud, arrogant, seemingly problematic ones?

I was a massive Damon fan in the 90s, but now the Internet has shown me he's a bit of a tosser.
I was an even bigger Mansun fan, and had many pictures of Paul Draper on my wall, and did go and see him when he is did solo AOTGL gigs 6 or 7 years ago.
Post that I joined some Mansun SM and discovered what a vile human he was, with all the tit with the Anchoress and couldn't bring myself to give him more money, or see his Six tour
The Gallaghers seen to be the same, nothing has come since the 90s, even Liams random twitter rants are what's expected of him rather than anything that turns me off
Indeed, and Mark Morris from Bluetones turned out to be awful. Liam may not have been faithful to Nicole (??) Appleton for example but I don't think either of the Gallaghers turned out to be wildly different to who they've always portrayed themselves to be
