Boybands Forever

This programme is a bit of me! It encompasses my secondary school/teen years so well. I loved Take That but then they split up and I was obsessed with Boyzone (think posters all over the bedroom plus other concert memorabilia, inc a lime green scarf randomly. I'm sure there were boxers too!), then I turned 14, got a boyfriend and suddenly it was Oasis/Dodgy/OCS. Such a wonderful but emotionally turbulent time.

That year of transition was honestly so pivotal it's never left me.
Oh I love this! I transitioned from boy bands to Britpop in 1996 and it was an incredible time 😍

Just watching episode two and it’s so good! My love of boy bands started and ended with Take That but I remember the later bands so well.

I remember Scott from Five was quite local to me, and once or twice visited the supermarket in Basildon where I had a Saturday job right at the height of their fame 😅

It’s quite sobering too, listening to Robbie say that no one can have that level of fame and come out of it with mental health intact. He’s right. I hated him for ditching TT and being such an arrogant wick, but modern day Robbie is so eloquent and speaks so well about what fame did to him.
That bit between him and the guy from Five was quite sad.

Ritchie reminds me so much of a large number of lads I knew born in 1979. I think it's the narrow frame plastic glasses that are the move up from the similar shaped wire frame ones. Gives their age away 😆.

Robbie is so likeable, reflective and articulate. It's a miracle he didn't and up in the gutter permanently.

Heh the post above disagrees. I think that's true to some extent, but I think the difference for me is Robbie is self aware which makes him more endearing to me.
Robbie has really endeared himself to me in recent years. He is smarter than I gave him credit for.

It’s a shame that none of the other members of TT contributed, because I’d honestly love to hear their take on things (especially since they still ARE Take That so can’t even take themselves out of it so much). But I’m not sure they could ever be as articulate and reflective as Robbie is, like you say.

1996 for me too. Massive time. Sometimes I almost feel stuck there in some ways. It's hard to explain.
I know what you mean! I feel like those years were so pivotal. Easy to look back with rose tinted spectacles and say life was better then, but pop culture was so different then and so exciting.

We’re up to 2006 on my episode - Gary Barlow hasn’t had his glow up yet at Take That’s Come back announcement and Brian Harvey’s infamous jacket potato incident has happened. Terry is so supportive and kind about Brian, it’s very said that none of E17 speak now.

Just finished episode 2 but didn't really feel like there were any new revelations or stories? Felt a bit of a rip off and rehash of 'The Big Reunion' show on ITV2.
Its strange to totally gloss over Boyzone when they were so huge in the 90s, but I guess none of them wanted to take part!

RSF went thus (sic):

Jean speaks French, not a word is said, for those who set sail on her waterbed. It's a fetish cruise and a pleasure to, hmmm do business with you. Do ya feel like taking them down...
