Love it when that happens! What have you gone for?OMG you guys, SO MANY books from my wishlist have been reduced. It’s like Christmas morning here!
Did anyone like The Safekeep? I remember at least one tattler not being overly impressed
I liked it, I found the idea begind it interesting and didn't know about the historical element in it. But it's quite an odd read, I'm not sure if I would recommend it. It's one of those that I read as a bookclub and it had great discussion but it was probably one that I stuck with because I had to!OMG you guys, SO MANY books from my wishlist have been reduced. I haven’t made any purchases yet. But have a million windows open. I’m trying to be a bit more responsible with my kindle purchases. I’m very flippant with adding to wish list cos I like the sound of something. But, often I find it unbearable to read. So now I read a little sample before purchase!Love it when that happens! What have you gone for?
I had a big zero of wishlist books on offer this month but have picked up The House of the Spirits by Isabelle Allande. I’ve read a couple of hers and like them, and THOTS always seems to be held up as her best so hoping that’s true!
i got into the blue and the bright years, as well as the new kj charlesWhat have you bought so far?
I’m tempted by Into the Blue? Eyed up the £20 hardback the other day so 99p feels basically free - especially as it seems like the type of book I’ll fly through. Might get The Bright Years too as I’ve seen a few fav reviews of it - although that’s probably set me up for disappointment and I’ll have to leave it for a couple of months lol
I’ve read the Safekeep, it was Ok - I don’t think it deserves the hype it’s got but can see why people like it.
Which reminds me - The Artist is one of Waterstones books of the month, they’re obsessed with it. Debut prize, book of the year, book of the month - I’m sick of the sight of it 🫣
I wasn't that impressed by The Artist! Read it last month and rated it 3 stars - maybe I would have liked it more without all the hype. What have you bought so far?

eurkh after having this on my list for a while after seeing all the rave reviews, i’m a few pages in and I can already tell i’m likely to DNF it!Omg your memory is staggering! I paid full price for it and read the first two pages and immediately loathed it. I returned for full refund.
Since then, I have seen nothing but glowing reviews of it with many people saying it takes a few chapters to get into the swing of it.
So I figured for that price twas worth another shot!
I keep reading Wildy different reviews of the safekeep. It seems like a really marmite book but I read the first few pages and enjoyed the writing, it’s not too long and it was a cheapy so I’m happy to take a punt! Watch this space as I return in a few weeks complaining that I cannot finish it.Do No Harm is a great book.
I would skip The Safekeep. She writes really well, even when the story through the book doesn't keep up. The first couple of chapters were excellent but then nothing. It was like someone switched the story telling in her off. I persevered just in case we got back to the first two chapters but we didn't the last 60% was nothing.

i honestly really liked the safekeep: it’s at times a very frustrating book because you’re in the mind of a very frustrating character and i think there were a bunch of plot issues that aren’t resolved to my liking but i thought the writing was beautiful and i got really involved in it. every single person i’ve recommended it to has disliked it though!I keep reading Wildy different reviews of the safekeep.
