Had a great reading month! Already spoke about East of Eden, so my other favourite books this month were After Hours at Dooryard Books and The Nickel Boys. I already owned the latter, but seeing it on a few Tattlers' lists made me pick it up, and wow - extremely impactful.

Hated Audition.

Uh i love ACOTAR series and read the first CC book but found it pretty hard to get into. It was a while ago too so forgot most of it if i wanted to read the next.

Maybe i should think about reading throne of glass...But i think I'll have to re-read some ACOTAR soon in preparation for October!

I tried Crescent City, but there were too many characters, locations and circumstances for my tiny little brain to take in that I gave up after a few chapters. I really should try again. Throne of Glass is great, like ACOTAR's sophisticated older sibling.

That was my issue too. In the 2nd half I've got ny head round the characters but just didn't like them that much 😅

There are 7 of Steve Cavanaugh's Eddie Flynn series on Kindle daily deals today. I'm on the fence and don't know whether to buy or not. I know they've been spoken about a lot on here but I'm nervous to buy all 7 in case I loathe the 1st one. What do I do book friends??

I started off SO STRONG this month. And then I kind of just hit an unexpected slump. And it wasn’t anything to do with the books. I just couldn’t focus my attention on reading for any period of time. I am finally managing to get some actual work done at that thing that pays my mortgage so I guess that’s a win?

My fav was Whistler.

Seeing as I didn’t even pick up my book today, nevermind actually finishing it as planned, can I break my promise to myself and still buy some cheapy deals tomorrow? Please?

Eddie Flynn books are my favourite series, I buy the latest before I even know the synopsis 👏🏻

Enjoyed the Churchill book and rage of party but both had so many hour long chapters they took a while to read

I would have bought one if they had had the first one in the series on the deals but they didnt! I didn't want to start further in the series because theres usually a back story to miss!

They had the first one though? I splurged and bought all 7 just before midnight as I'd almost forgotten. I put the remaining 3 on my wishlist and just bought 1 more in today's deals. Only 2 remaining now and I really hope I like them 😅

Haha did they? I must have flicked through too quick and missed it!

I haven't read the first one, but have read all others and don't feel I missed any back story when I started. Eddie's a good lad and gives you a catch up when it's needed. One of my favourite series, each one gets better!

A few from our list on deals this month - noticed Homegoing, The List of Suspicious Things, Grapes of Wrath, Foster. A Monster Calls is there for £2.99.

Also, my favourite Poirot is up - The Murder of Roger Ackroyd

No stand out ones for me this month on first glance but I think I’ll need to find some as the unread kindle list is very uninspiring!

My May reads were a real mixed bag -

She didn’t see it coming - actually really enjoyed this, Shari Lapena used to be my favourite thriller author but felt her last couple of releases had been duds so was glad to enjoy one again

Beuatiful weird - perhaps the worst book I have ever read. Need I say more

Julie Chan is Dead - unsure what I thought to this? I read it cover to cover in a day on the bank holiday, loved the first 50% then it took a weird turn that I’m not sure I liked. Reminded me of a fun, easier version of Yellowface

Fury Bound - didn’t quite live up to Dire bound for me (seems to be a recurring thing with new fantasy series atm, great first book and then the author feels the pressure and the second just isn’t as good).

The Names - obsessed, heartbroken, no notes - absolutely in my top 5 reads of recent years ever

Same! Enjoyed it overall but the second half was odd, though the audiobook added to the humour so I was still entertained.
