Rob Rinders latest, The Protest, is on the daily deals today. Ive bought it to cheer me up when ive finished Ink Black Heart, which I already dont want to finish!
Amazing thanks for this!! I’ve been listening to it and really enjoying but haven’t been able to listen properly with a mix of summer holidays and work!

Is anyone else receiving books they've pre-ordered from Waterstones before the publication date? I ordered three books in the 25% off sale, which are publishing on the 11th and 16th September, and Royal Mail says they'll be delivered tomorrow! Certainly not complaining, just wondered if anyone else was experiencing the same?
The publishers are probably happy enough to do this for books they know will be well received, get a few good reviews in and some buzz going before release date!

I’ve had the opposite, an email saying they’re still waiting for copies from the publisher lol
I get excited when pre-orders arrive a day or so early, but it never seems to happen with books I want to read straight away.

I hope this early deliveries thing is still happening for me to get The Strength of the Few early.

They clearly aren't familiar with my TBR pile!

I wondered if Waterstones might be looking to clear out stock

Yes I think you're right. It seems like sometimes they're super strict about the release date (for like, a Maas or a Rooney or other big name) and then otherwise they don't mind if a few books go out early for some good reviews/hype!

Just finished and absolutely LOVED 'Over My Dead Body' by Maz Evans. Someone on Goodreads described it as like Ghost meets The Good Place which is exactly right. It's funny and moving, Backman fans might like it.

Yes! So creepy isn’t it, gave me shudders reading it.
Yes! Not my usual genre but the blurb on the back was so intriguing I just had to read it. I could picture the companions quite vividly and for a couple of weeks after I finished reading it, when I got up to go to the loo in the middle of the night I’d keep thinking one of them would appear, which is of course absolutely stupid.

This month 3 books on my wish list have been reduced to 99p, The God of the Woods by Liz Moore, which I remember putting on there, and 2 others which I don’t remember putting on there so must have come from here.

Anyone read The Ex Vows by Jessica Joyce and/or Right Place, Right Time by Ali McNamara?

Hi so new to tattle and this seems like my type of thread. Going to start reading The Silkworm as I read Cuckoos Calling last year and loved it! Own the rest of the series so really want to get reading the rest. Also got stuck reading The Blade Itself as part of a buddy read which is okay so far! Fantasy’s not really my thing and am kind of dreading when I’ve finished as I don’t know how to get out of another buddy read.
Welcome! Word of warning though: By being on this thread your bank account will get lower and your tbr, longer. However Ordinaryjelly is the absolute GOAT of whittling down a long tbr list.

I'm only 6 chapters in so far but I'm already hooked.
Chapter 39 and I have a LOT to say. Not going to try spoilers at this stage as it is pointless. Will wait until at least a few of us have finished.

Rowling/Galbraith is a phenomenal writer.

I agree. She is supremely talented. I always completely lose myself in her books (if that doesnt sound weird) and forget im reading a book because I am inside the story. Heck I even dreamt about Strike last night, sadly it didnt end well for him in my dream, so hopefully it was just a dream and nit a premonition!

Not from waterstones, but i ordered a mystery box from abc books a month or two (and they send this internationally too!) and i got a book in there which was a clear arc, bc it also stated that on that cover that it was meant to be released a month later! if its not the copy how its meant to look (ie it looking a tad unfinished? i dont know how else to explain it) it could be an arc, otherwise I guess youre having a lucky early reader copy for the exact same reasons shops like abc throw arc's in their orders to gain hype :3 (though in my case i also clearly paid for it but, still, I wasn't expecting an arc in a mystery box so!)

Wow, and arcs are pretty clearly not to be sold on (I know people do, but still!)
