My August reading - have definitely come up of my slump this month. I finished reading all my library books and kindle unlimited reads and am now determined to only read books I already own and trying really hard not to buy anymore…

I feel I’m in the minority here by reading more non fiction than fiction - I’m finding novels really hard work at the moment.

Just started reading “Thunder Dog” written by Michael Hingson, who was born blind and his guide dog who got him and a couple of others out of the World Trade Centre on September 11th

August was kind of a dud reading wise, except for nonfiction, and two four star novels.

Eeeeee. Just got my dispatch notice for The Hallmarked Man 🎉

I read the last three over summer so am more than ready for this one!

If you haven't read The Strike series, like a detective book and haven't read these you are missing out. Read them now. Hands down the best detective series there is. Says something about Rowling that she can switch from Harry Potter to Cormoran Strike in the click of a finger. Such talent.

Anyway. Treat your mind, go read the series.
My order should arrive today, so once I get back from work, my phone is going on do not disturb, banana bread cake is coming out the tin, pyjamas going on, and I will be lounging and reading 👍❤

I have a mix of paperback and hardback Strikes on my shelf, scandalous I know 🤭 It’ll take me ages to get round to reading the new one but enjoying my re-read via audiobook.

I recently read The Cuckoo’s Calling and I must admit that I didn’t love it! Even though I love JKR.

I think it’s made me realise I’m just not that keen on detective crimes. I haven’t read that many of them. I think I just find interview after interview a bit too repetitive and need more action.

That said, I will still read The Silkworm in the future and I’m keen to give the BBC drama a go.

Is anyone else receiving books they've pre-ordered from Waterstones before the publication date? I ordered three books in the 25% off sale, which are publishing on the 11th and 16th September, and Royal Mail says they'll be delivered tomorrow! Certainly not complaining, just wondered if anyone else was experiencing the same?

Yeah, I pre-ordered something in march, not due for publishing until Thursday, I received it last week.

And I can't even start the book because I've still got 1/3 of The Count of Monte Cristo left to read - which this far has been an amazing epic story.

Hi so new to tattle and this seems like my type of thread. Going to start reading The Silkworm as I read Cuckoos Calling last year and loved it! Own the rest of the series so really want to get reading the rest. Also got stuck reading The Blade Itself as part of a buddy read which is okay so far! Fantasy’s not really my thing and am kind of dreading when I’ve finished as I don’t know how to get out of another buddy read.
