I actually rescued AA from my TBR to see whether if I like it enough to justify those editions 🫣 I’m ridiculous.
I'm currently slogging my way through Jodu Picoult By Any Other Name, really hope to finish it this weekend as I feel like I have been reading it forever.
Just started Glorious Exploits by Ferdia Lennon after seeing it featured on Between the Covers. It's ok so far.
I picked up 5 books in the charity shops yesterday and am trying to read what i buy straight away or I find it just bring them home, pop them in the bookcase and they don't get read for years. Grand total of £7ish.
Anyway 5 will sort my TBR for May. I got:
1) The Party by Tessa Hadley (i know it's got some lackluster reviews but it's a short read and I like the premise)
2) For Thy Great Pain Have Mercy on My Little Pain(which surely needed a shorter title!)
3) August Blue by Deborah Levy
4) Pachinko by Min Jin Lee
5) A cute little vintage copy of The Hobbit
If by any slim chance I get through those then I'll be back to the Throne of Glass series. I'm 4 books deep as it stands but having fun with it.
Anyway 5 will sort my TBR for May. I got:

This is something I question about book club. We each take in turns to chose a book. It’s not that we are strangers in the group but certainly don’t know each others struggles. We once read a famous book about abuse, it was clear what the book was about. One member wrote privately to say she wasn’t going to read and of course I respected that. I didn’t expect her to come that month, but she did and cried through the discussion. It was incredibly uncomfortable and awkward.
After seeing the trailer and talk here of The Long Walk, and it being on my kindle for 5273 years (I was iffy about the Bachman books after the only book I had with me, during a boring 24 hours in hospital waiting while being induced, was The Regulators that I couldn't get into - in hindsight probably should have had something fluffier to read while in labour!) I started that last night - absolutely loving it!
The only Stephen King's I've not read are ones I've never fancied, and every time I end up loving them, I'll learn my lesson here one day! (And will try again with The Regulators!)

Not at all - they are just that beautiful! Matching edges too. Illumicrate is having a great year so far.
I’m just catching up, and I think with trigger warnings it’s the unexpectedness for me in certain books that’s an issue. For example if you didn’t want to read about murder, you’d stay away from thrillers and police procedural. If you picked up a fluffy romance and it turned slasher novel half way through you’d be a bit ‘wtf, I’d never have picked that up had I known’. If you didn’t want to see trigger warnings, you literally don’t have to read that page

I just want to say it wasn't my intent to hound anyone off of this thread, more of we expect a warning for triggering subjects in books - why are we not doing the same here - hiding behind spoilers:
It just can't be one and not the other. Why is it ok to trigger people on here (and I am glad this can be a source of support for people, Lord knows when I was paralysed your support was unending and I have never forgotten that kindness) and not be triggered by the paper back you picked up in Asda?

I went to investigate evenings and weekends as it sounds so familiar and it’s been getting good reviews here. Seems I enjoyed it too! I read it in March last year.

I’m heading on holiday and have a fine mix loaded onto my kindle. The first two Strike books, 4 unread Steve Cavanagh, and some beautiful trashy romances to get stuck into. Cannot wait!
I'm partway through the new Emily Henry (enjoying!) and a little way in to the new Mariana Zapata (also enjoying!). I love the slow burn in Zapata's novels and this is definitely already providing that even just a little way in.
But (semi-spoiler here I will hide just in case anyone wants to go in blind) it's not a regular contemporary romance (magical creatures incl warewolves are involved) and I'm not normally one for magical creature stuff (save for teenage me devouring Twilight & enjoying a few weird A/B/O fanfictions and Ali Hazlewood's Bride
).
