For books, my library uses borrowbox so I do have to download the loan to my PC via Adobe Digital Editions and then in loads to my Kobo and I guess it disappears after 20 days, it seems to have a banner on the book cover showing it is a loan. My library doesn't seem to have any ebooks on Libby, but they do use Libby for magazine loans and audio. No idea why they are using 2 platforms but only magazines on one and novels on the other that did cause me some confusion initially.

I think mine does the same. It’s annoying.

I’ve lost track of which letters have been chosen already.. W for Wednesday? Or R for Rain? It’s miserable here, perfect book weather!

This was Rock Paper Scissors, I read this in one day. Proper page (or however we can it in the Kindle) turner. It wasn't a wonderful piece of fiction, but she did manage to suck me in and want to know who did what.

Then I read a couple of novellas - Whale Fall by Elizabeth O'Connor. This is about 200pages and every page was hauntingly beautiful. Hard to think this was her debut.

And The End We Start From by Megan Hunter. Not my kind of book at all but a perfectly well written book, just not my genre and it was a bit of a slog to get through.

Are we bored of the letter requests yet? If not someone please suggest a letter. Down to 42 books now. My tbr had never been so small!

Kim Harrison's The Hollows, although I haven't read the later books in that series yet as I want to do a reread from the start.

My absolute favourite is Nalini Singh's Psy-Changling/Psy-Changling Trinity series, which technically comes under the paranormal romance umbrella, but also has elements of urban fantasy and science fiction. It's the over arching world and story she's created that sucks me in though, and as soon as a new one is released I want to go straight back and reread from the start

I also love Kate Daniels which I've recently reread, and Karen Marie Moning's Fever series. I also need to reread and catch up with Seanan McGuire's October Daye series which I also loved but lost track of.

I love to get my teeth into a good urban fantasty/paranormal romance series. Pure escapism

Thanks, I'm making notes! I also love the escapism - and getting into a series where so many books have already been published is the best!

I was naughty and bought a Kobo Clara BW on payday, firstly so I can back up future books I buy (screw you, Amazon!) but also because I want to be able to borrow more books from my library. I have just managed to check out my first book and I look forward to borrowing more and supporting the library that way. I don't borrow actual books from the library because mine is a small mobile building and open limited hours that don't match my availability, but this way I feel like I'm still supporting them a bit, still?

I also have a Kindle Paperwhite 12th ed, which I do love to read on, and that will be my main device for books I already have (I have about 50 unread ), and I can sideload onto it with books I have purchased elsewhere, plus I sideload fanfiction onto it etc, so it will still get used. But the Kobo Clara BW is smaller, lighter, and can have my library books and future purchases on it, and I'm planning on using it as my out-and-about e-reader for trains/waiting rooms/ lunchtime at work, etc. I had been a bit wary of losing my Paperwhite anyway so tended to leave it at home, and reading on the kindle app on my phone was not the best for my eyes.

So yes, a bit of a costly purchase, but I definitely have a couple of 'use cases' for it.

I still buy and love a new paperback but I'm trying to limit those purchases to ones where it's series I'm halfway though or books I can tell I am going to love. Or ask them as gifts for birthday/Christmas etc.

Then I'll use the library for e-books I am unsure about or curious about, and I will try to buy other e-books I want to keep, like Agatha Christies (whose works I want to eventually read all of, I have a spreadsheet ), from other sites and back them up.

I still may buy 99p deals on Amazon for the kindle but at least I do so now knowing it's a licence and not buying the book . I am pissed that I have spent £££ the past few years on books I thought I was owning (Buy Now, button, anyone?!) when that actually wasn't the case, and yes I downloaded my books before the cut off on 26th Feb. I mean, recently I paid 14 quid for a kindle book, a trilogy, before all that furore kicked off, and to think I could pay so much and not even be able to back it up if my amazon account ever got locked and not have access to it? Fuming! Kobo books also have DRM on the books but they let you take a download as a back up. And being able to link to my library, well that's what made me decide to get one.

No-one asked for all this blurting from me but it's been on my chest all week, and I've been trying to organise by TBR

I don't do piracy though, I have just backed up the books I have paid (quite a lot) for by download which the system let me do until the cut off. I don't redistribute. Just back up in case my account disappears. Any kindle purchases made from this point forward I do so knowing it's like a rental, but I'll try to buy the books elsewhere first. I don't do Kindle unlimited because I don't need to add another subscription to my list

Anyway, the library book I have just borrowed is Emma Flint's Other Women, a historical mystery, which I hope I will enjoy.

My favourite read in February is Queen of Poisons by Robert Thorogood.

Now off to eat beans on toast to offset the buying a Kobo

I'm a fellow Kobo Clara user! I bought one two years ago, when I was trying not to buy so many books from Amazon, and I love it. I also love the VIP function - I don't know if it works out cheaper but I'm a sucker for being "rewarded" for loyalty

And it is so nice and light - though my case is very tatty as a result of being dragged everywhere with me.

(The) Mountain in my Shoe by Louise Beech. I am a huge Beech fan but this one has never grabbed me and made me want to read it before. Purchased almost 3 years ago so we will see.

Anyone read The One by John Marrs? I am reading it for book club and find it hilarious in cliches, story, characters and a dun dun dun….. plot twist which are even more ludicrous. It’s disturbing in parts too, I remember this about his other book What Lies Between Us. I’d never have gone past the first few chapters had it not been for BC. It’s very popular, I see good reviews for it everywhere.

Amazon first reads.. I went for the bonus short story and the Bookshop one about an old guy and a teenagers friendship (cant recall te title) and American Housewife on my flatmates free choice.

Kindle deals - as yet only 2 City on Fire and a book on Hope by Jane Goodall. Possibly will look at some more later in the month - like the Simone De Beauvoir Novel and another of those Japanese cat books which are a nice easy read.Again some good choices in there but ones I have already read or have

@Caffeine Fiend quoting you as the thread closed, that's so sad about Denzil Meyrick, I discovered his books at Christmas and read his 2 Christmas murder mysteries... I love his writing style and I was going to pre-order his third Christmas book due later this year. I also have his other books on my TBR. Damn.

Book rave alert! The Bookbinder of Jericho, not sure if it's been mentioned on this thread before but it's a fabulous read. I loved the way all the old classics, with snippets of prose and verse wove their way through the whole book. It's set in first world war times and that plays a part but the main theme is a young woman, during suffrage, fighting against family and society expectations for a lower class woman, to study at Oxford. Its soooo good an easy 5 stars for me!

I've read this one and the dictionary one. They could make this into a film or TV series imho.

Has anyone else noticed that you buy Kindle books on Amazon on your computer and they don't get sent to your Kindle automatically anymore? I got 3 Amazon First Reads and bought 2 deals and even when I press sync they don't appear in my library?? This only seems to be since they stopped that backup download thing on the 26th

I got the images of each book title from Amazon and then copied them onto here which I then slimmed down so that I could keep them on one line rather than having them spread out across two lines. Which books interest you the most @Chocolategoggler?
