What a chapter! I’m amazed Adam is still alive, how did he find them? Hopefully he comes to.
I’m not sure everyone will make it out alive but hopefully they don’t all perish in the fire.

I think it would be a massive cop out if they all perished in the fire or similar. But I also think it would be disappointing if they all live

I have a bit of a reputation at my bookclub for being a bit bloodthirsty, but I hate it when authors are afraid to kill people off.

I really hope we get a chapter from the POV of the snowmobile person

I’m guessing dead and dumped somewhere.
I agree I don’t want them all to survive and have a happy ending yet I don’t want them all to die either.

What a chapter!! I’m glad Adam found his way there and has been able to take out some revenge but I don’t see how he’s surviving this next assault.

Poor Beth just accepting her torture for the sake of the children. I can’t even imagine being in that position and seeing your children tied up and held captive but then also being tortured in front of them. Awful!

I want to know what was snowmobile guy planning on doing with the fingers and stocking? Where was he going to put it?

I don’t see all the family escaping with their lives. My prediction is Adam dies and just as Beth is on the cusp of death, rescue arrives in the nick of time.

If they are in a good enough condition I will attempt to sell them on the table top that me and my mum do every so often, but the ones that aren't in very good condition will go to charity shops. Tbh I do need a sort out as I have got so many books and I haven't got the space to keep them all in my room.

How many days ago was Adam pushed off a cliff by snowmobile man? FFS not only did he manage to survive that but he’s been wondering around a forest in the snow for 5(?) days and is still alive? Urgh this will be the longest time I’ve been reading a book for this year, the ending better be good!

I always wonder why Spotify and now Goodreads sum up your year before the year is out. I’m currently reading 3 books, 2 I’ll finish at the weekend and 25 days which I’ll finish on Christmas Day, I’m planning on getting through another 5 or 6 before the year is out. It annoyed me that Goodreads told me how many books I’d read this year. There will be more.

Yes it is annoying. But it will update in the app. When you look at your Year in Books in the app it will update to the most recent numbers.

December has been dismal for reading for me

I've hit my reading goal for the year so I'm focusing on getting a good start in 2025.

I'm hoping this is the year I finally get through my physical TBR, I think it's currently at 14 books - it's so hard when you're a mood reader though

i thought that cheaper was a bit of nothing. It confirmed what we thought about Bill being dead. Now the family are all trying to escape, but have paused to grab food from the kitchen. Which I think is a mistake as it gives more time for snow mobile person to return.

Maybe this building is slightly closer to civilisation.

We have so few pages left. Obviously we won't want to do a book like this every month, but I have really enjoyed hearing all our differing opinions and how we are all mostly clueless about the outcome. Hopefully we can find a book like this for next year. Maybe if all leave Per Jacobsen positive feedback he will write another. I mean it is no literary genius but the premise, an advent calender of a book has been really good, I think.

Completely agree. I’ve read that he’s said he won’t do the same next year as he has other things in the pipeline

but that if the format goes down well, and he has a new idea, he might do something similar in future

The family has managed to get this far with barely any food or water, it's really not worth going back into a burning building where their captor might be! I guess Adam ate everything that was in Beth's bag too?

Does anyone else have a hard time visualising some of the scenes? The whole blowtorch under the door situation left me like

I gave up trying to picture what was happening and just accepted my general understanding that they were trying to stop the fire/escape lol

Same. I also keep feeling the story jumping ahead a little, and keep going back to see if I've missed pages

Compared to the last chapter this was a bit meh and it seems so unlikely they’re all managing to walk and will be able to get out if there easily.

I'm no bear Grylls but can they not eat the snow for water? They can go without food, Adam hasn't eaten for a week at least anyway!!

I think Adam was eating whatever Beth had packed in that bag. He found it after climbing back up to where the family had been. But yes I agree I think there’s a certain amount of suspending disbelief

I stumbled across another 25 chapter book with the intention of it being like an advent calendar on Amazon and stupidly didn’t take note of what it was called. I’ll do some digging and see if I can find it again. We can store it away for next year.
I’d love to do more throughout the year - I wonder if we can get an Easter one and a summer one?

There is definitely a great amount of suspending belief in this book but I’m to go with that sometimes if I’m really enjoying the story.

Although that chapter wasn’t as good as the previous one, I did enjoy it. I properly gasped and exclaimed “what?” out loud when it mentioned Bill smiling and grabbing Chloe. My husband had to ask me what I was talking about as he had no clue what was going on. I’m pleased we’ve had a conclusion to what’s happened to Bill, I thought it was inevitable when he was taken into that room.

If there wasn’t only a couple chapters left I would have agreed with them going to find food but since we’re almost at the end, I’m pretty sure the food stop is unnecessary. But it’s setting up an opportunity for snowmobile man to find them!
