I was so sad to see this, this morning. I started buying the Jim Kay for eldest and they got stopped. Appreciate Jim isnt feeling the best so feel nasty moaning about it.

So I thought ok will start the Mina Lina for youngest.

I wonder what has gone wrong there... they seemed to sell well.

There was speculation in the comments that JKR withdrew the rights as MinaLima are very LGTBQ+ positive, but they haven't outright criticised her, so I can't see that being the truth.

We should still get the rest of the original illustrated series just not done by Jim Kay, at least that's what Bloomsbury originally intended.

What's everyone's favourite (auto)biography? I'm midway through Nelson Mandela's, but want to add some more to my TBR. 😸
I’ve loved;
Bob Mortimer - And Away…
Seth Rogen - Yearbook
Fern Brady - Strong Female Character
Daisy May Cooper - Don’t Laugh, It’ll Only Encourage Her
Sarah Millican - How to be Champion

I guess I gravitate toward comedian’s autobiographies, don’t think I’d realised that before.

I’d be so happy if someone could finish the series in a similar style to the Jim Kay one’s so although it would be a different illustrator it could still be the same series. Bit like when Richard Harris died and Michael Gambon took over as Dumbledore - same series, similar style but in their own way.

The best ones I've read in recent years are:
I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy
Strong Female Character by Fern Brady
Me by Elton John
My Thoughts Exactly- Lily Allen (she comes off unlikeable imo but it's still a good read).

Finished The Housemaid is Watching today, slightly better than book number 2 but nowhere near as good as The Housemaid. She really shouldn’t have bothered with the sequels but when would our Freida ever turn down writing a book 😂

Has anyone read Mrs Quinns Rise To Fame? It's such a gorgeous read, like a big warm hug, reminds me a lot of Clare Pooley's writing. I'm loving it!

I've just finished Rabbit Hole by Kate Brody. Quite weird and dark but I enjoyed it!

Will look out for it, I enjoy lighthearted feel goods around heavier reads. Although this thread just heaps more on my TBR and does nothing for my pocket 😂
Thanks to the person who recommended The Measure. I’m enjoying it.

I noticed she has a novella coming out next week.

On Borrowbox there is an audiobook series I am listening to which has 6 books, the Borrowbox only has books 1-4 available! Ughhhh Books 5 and 6 are missing and the series came out years ago...
You could try asking the library if they could get it. I did that with one of the Aisling book series and they got it. Failing that if you have Spotify premium the books might be on there?

same 🤣 my parents paid many library fines for me (sorry parents!)

reading you belong with me by mhairi mcfarlane right now and i’ve always liked everything else by her that i’ve read but the dialogue in this is so bad. clunky dialogue is my number one gripe with books and everyone in this speaks in such a robotic way, it’s really offputting. i’ll persevere as the story is interesting enough but 😬
Oh my god I was going to say the same thing but was trying to think of a good example to show everyone what annoyed me most 🤣it’s the really over the top idioms that wind me up. Trying to shoehorn in cultural references as well. I almost didn’t finish it!

This book felt so unnecessary I have no idea why she even wrote it or how it got the green light from her publishers. 😅 I do really like her and have read all of her others but this one was awful. Like you say, barely any plot and they seemed so incompatible? When at the end it was like "lets get married!" after that huge fight at the wedding when she thought he was breaking up with her, and all of their miscommunication, I was like wtf?? :ROFLMAO:

I did like the first one in the series though, Mad About You I think it was called?
Yeah I was like Declan seems like the right choice tbh

Quoting myself.

Scholastic have confirmed the illustrated interactive series will continue, just not illustrated by MinaLima

The PWMOV leads were announced this week. It's probably my least fav of her books so I have sort of forgotten the characters and don't know if this is good casting or not 😅
it’s my least favourite of her books too (though it has maybe her sweetest male lead imo) - so i don’t have a hugely strong opinion on them (he’s cute though!) i’m just waiting to see if beach read will have my paul mescal dream cast 🤣
