If you want a good F1 book to read I would recommend Before You by Kathryn Freeman as I really enjoyed it when I read it last year as I loved the F1 setting, I went through every emotion when the main character was driving in each race as I was rooting for him to win, I got to find out what happens behind the scenes when no race is taking place, I felt like I understood both main characters view points and it was a well written book that kept me wanting to read on to see what was going to happen next.
I'm obsessed with F1, but haven't read any fiction related to it. I've read Adrian Newey's book and an anecdotal book in French about Pierre Gasly's first win from his family and friends' perspective 😂 I think I downloaded Before You when it was suggested here before and still haven't read it. Thanks for the reminder!

It was probably me who suggested it when I read it back in May last year. If you do happen to read it you will have to let me know how you found it.

Has anyone read the wrong sister by Claire Douglas? I finished it a few days ago and felt meh at the end.
I have it on my TBR. I’ve read two of her books so far. One has been a 3 and the other a 5, so this may fall somewhere in between for me 😂 I might bump it up and then come back and let you know what I thought.

Has anyone read Everyone Here Is Lying? I’m 7 chapters in and feel it’s a bit naff. It has good reviews so should I continue
Some of us read it recently as it was voted quite highly as the book club pick, perhaps for July’s pick it was. I quite enjoyed it.

I got into it about a third of the way in as I genuinely got swept up in it. I like it overall even if the the age of the girl didn't seem quite right.

It was a quick read, I enjoyed it, but at times the tennis theme got a little samey. Wish I knew more Spanish too, worth a read if you’ve a passing interest in the game.
How about if you don’t like tennis? That’s what’s been putting me off this one.

it would be a rough read tbh! a lot of it is long descriptions of matches which i know (from reviews) a lot of people struggled with. you have to know a little bit about the different slams and such too.

there is a lovely father/daughter story at the heart of it but if you don’t like tennis i don’t know if you would enjoy it!

Thanks, I’ll maybe give it a wide berth.

Argh I just spoiled the ending of a book I'm about to read 🙄😭😬

I was flicking through the paperback, it's a sequel, and was sniffing the gorgeous smell of 'new book' when I got to the last bloomin' page and saw the cliffhanger. Oh ffs. And the third book comes out next year so I'm going to have to read this book knowing there is currently an unresolved cliffhanger 😅🤭

👀

That will teach me to sniff books 🤣

I'd been in a real book slump but a week's holiday has sorted me right out!

The Passengers- John Marr : Loved the idea of this, thought it was a bit silly in the end but a good beach read. Want to read more of his.
Divine Rivals- Rebecca Ross: Sweet story but happy to wait for the paperback to read the sequel.
Just for the summer- Abby Jimenez- Loved this, wish I'd read her others before as I understand some of the characters make an appearance in this.
Bad Summer People- I was a bit disappointed by this one, all the characters were pretty horrendous I didn't care much for what happened to any of them . I suppose the clue was in the title 😅
Belladonna- Adalyn Grace: Interesting idea, found it dipped a bit in the middle but I liked it enough to want to read the sequel when it's out.
Under your spell- Laura Wood: LOVED it, my most favourite recent read. I think I saw it recommended on here so thank you for another solid suggestion!

i’m reading that right now (literally almost finished) and i’m loving it too. one of the best romances i’ve read in a while - just a whole cast of really likeable characters and the conflict/hurdles in the relationship actually made sense. i’ll be sad to finish it 👌🏻
