I was a bit disappointed in it. I don't really know what I was expecting but it wasn't that!

Spoiler: Why I Didn’t Like Vlad

think my main issue is that I didn’t really care about any of the characters. Not just that I didn’t like them but I really wasn’t invested in them either way so I wasn’t bothered about the relationships.

Also, even though we knew that at some point he was going to end up tied up with her watching them, when it did happen it seemed to escalate really quickly and it also seemed really out of character for an intelligent woman like that to drug and tie him up without much to explain as to why other than she had a bit of an obsessive crush on him - I just didn’t buy it.

To be fair I did skim read it cos I just wanted to get it finished so I might have missed something crucial!

Came across a book the other night called The Younger Woman by Mandy Byatt, it's currently 99p on Kindle and sounds like a good thriller.

I'm some 100 pages from finishing The Echo Chamber by John Boyne and have overall found the book really enjoyable... even with some of the characters being awful and it feeling like a bit of a rant on modern day technology and opinions. I don't normally go for comedy-type books but there's a few bits that made me laugh - also felt like a very quick read and that's always a plus

I finished Becoming - Michelle Obama on audible today.

It is my first 5 star this year. I put it off for so long because of the length. Its probably the oldest book on audible that I hadnt listened to. I loved it. I found it such an emotional listen. I cried quite a few times listening to it. I dont think its written to be emotional but I really found myself welling up several times.

She was a great narrator too.

i’ve been listening to this in work! (we’re doing a group listen in the little office i work in ) - and fully agree.

she has such a warm and emotive voice that it’s really lovely to listen to. it sounds like someone taking you into confidence and telling you things, which makes it a really engaging listen i think. she should do more audiobooks!

A teenage romance, cellist and singer (I think?). The girl is trying to understand how to really feel the music, how do people discover their talent and make music with emotions rather than 100% perfection. Interesting topic!

Yes she comes across like such a warm individual. I really loved it and Im annoyed its taken me so long to listen. I found the little anecdotes about her mother particularly after they moved to the White House very entertaining. I wont spoil it for you but I really enjoyed it.

I have used a credit for Colin Jost's autobiography which is called A Very Punchable Face

I saw another book by her on Borrowbox, not sure if it's new or not, I've bit looked into it.

Just started A Man Called Ove. Hoping I enjoy it as much as everyone else seems to still plodding on with Godkiller but it's more of a weekend read.

I finished Betty. As previously mentioned, I found the first 3/4 a slog to get through but the last 150 pages I flew through tonight. Best part of the book imo. I’m glad I read it but I’m ready for something different now!

On another note, I really want to improve my history knowledge. Does anyone know of a book which isn’t
too dry which kind of takes you through ancient to modern history?
