I don’t regret anything. I really truly believe every experience life has shown me has taught me a lesson, sometimes those lessons are really tough.

I sometimes reflect and wish things could have been different, I’ll always wish I could have got to say goodbye to my mum before she died, she died alone and I felt guilt for years even though I spoke with her everyday and night, I now realise it was totally out of my control and I couldn’t have done anything different or planned anything because it was a sudden unexpected death.

I know in my heart though that everything I do or have ever done has been my choice at the time and at the time it felt like the right thing to do in the situation I’ve been in so I don’t regret, instead I try and take the learning and grow from it.
Me too, lovely, my silly mum took her life 30 years ago this week, I miss her every day x

The pathways I took post GCSE’s.... I was pushed in the direction of traditional alevels and btecs and onto university. I actually think I (and probably many others around my age) were totally failed by former educators. There was very little guidance given by my sixth form just an attitude of “you’re getting this grade average this is the path you should go on”. There was an expectation by family that I was to go to university, when in reality as I reflect on things university probably wasn’t for me. Unfortunately at the time there just wasn’t the verity of options that there is now. At the time just about everyone went to university and I think looking back I was almost on a conveyor belt. It’s sad because I’m still dealing with the resulting mental health issues Caused by my uni years.

I regret allowing my mental health to consume me and kill off any hopes and dreams I had when I was younger. It’s really taken the spark out of my life and hangs over me like a cloud. Some days I feel like I’m on autopilot, I’m just muddling through trying to get to the finish line.

I regret not speaking up for myself when I was younger.

I regret wasting my teens and early 20s being heartbroken repeatedly because I had low self esteem.

I regret not telling more people to piss off.

This will always be my biggest regret. I had to cancel plans very last minute with my dear brother. We were supposed to head away for the weekend but I mixed up my diary dates. Had I followed through on the plans we had, I am convinced he would still be here today. I feel like that weekend away could of shown him that life is always worth living, I dunno really.

I know what he decided to do next is not my fault, however I don't think I can forgive myself for not going away with him that fateful weekend.

Sorry for the doom and gloom thread but I’m in one of those moods 😂 damn Mother Nature!

My biggest regrets are;

Starting a family at 25, I wish I would have lived a bit and waited.

Buying this house (so many things wrong with it).

Having two kids instead of one 😂

I regret letting someone dictate my life, walk all over me, control me and ruin my self esteem

I regret not speaking up for myself and not fighting back

Not working abroad when I was younger. I always wanted to do at least one season, but met my boyfriend and never ended up going. We’re still together (engaged, house, baby) so I don’t regret that part but I wish I’d still managed to do it!

"Regrets, I have a few
But then again, to few to mention
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption
I planned each charted course
Each careful step along the byway
And more, much more than this, I did it my way!"

Lyrics written by Paul Anka, sung by Frank Sinatra.

I regret not telling anyone how bad our life was at home. Maybe nothing would have changed for me but it may have got my brother out of there and saved him from spiralling into drugs to numb his pain and anger. I will always have to live with how the physical abuse affected me but I have a great life now while my brother still struggles.

I regret my first marriage to an absolutely loser who refused to work and even now is still living on benefits at 53 years old. I also regret not leaving him the first time he beat me up.

I regret how I treated the few boyfriends who showed me genuine kindness. I was so used to abuse that I would treat them very badly because I could … I’m sorry 😢

I regret letting the years that I was overweight hold me back … I feel like I’m always playing catch up now.

I regret the tears I’ve shed over not having normal parents. It’s them not me and I shouldn’t have wasted my time wishing for something I could never have.

I also regret going to university. Wasted 4 years on something that I have no interest because it just seemed like the next step after high school. I work in railway now which I enjoy.

Not going to the police to report my abuser. I can’t help but feel he got away with it. He died a while back and I found out after there were other victims. Maybe if I’d come forward it would have made a difference. He had a nice life up to the end and that is hard to sit with that sometimes. I wish he’d gotten what he deserved.

Being too nice to people and being walked all over. Not being brave enough to tell them to get fucked basically.

I regret not having the maturity to take my education/career options seriously after doing my GCSE’s and not making the most of getting free college courses whilst I could because as an adult it’s expensive.
