The three of them really!

Amazing how much she's changed over the years! This photo was from her queer and polyamorous phase. She's certainly prettier now, but also more generic. Feels a bit like she's fallen into the 'if you're fat you'd better be pretty' trap.
All of them changed a lot!

I followed her ages ago and then she made a comment about how there was nothing wrong with reclining your airplane seat and I thought "nah, we're not the same type of people". She seems fine but just not my cup of tea.
You do NOT need that kind of negativity 😂😂

Seems really stuck up, opinionated, no one else can have an opinion and mention anything about obesity related health problems your the worst person ever..

I know she has big feet which can't be easy but I hate how she ruins every outfit with crap shoes.

Also her woker-than-thou attitude sucks: fatphobia is tit and it's very real but not everyone who wants to lose weight is directly commenting on the moral fibre of other fat people: it could be to start IVF/ to avoid an illness or fix an injury/ just due to a change in circumstance or comfort.

The fact that she feels it is a personal affront every time weight loss is even mentioned is just so... fragile.

You can change being fat. I cannot change the colour of my skin. She doesn’t see how stupid her argument is because she doesn’t want to. And her husband is totally how I expected him to look.

What size feet is she?

Couldn’t agree more with previous comments. She has changed so much since the ‘fatshion’ blogger days of Arched Eyebrow. I loved her blog and her outfit / book recommendation posts, but haven’t checked to see if there have been any updates for ages (I don’t follow on IG or Twitter).

I do like that she has made the successful transition from blogger to SM Manager and creative (with her fashion collabs and books).

I’m less comfortable with her aggressive body-pos view that any discussion of dieting is evil. I do firmly believe in ‘health at any size’ and can still reconcile that to a need to increase or maintain fitness (if you wish)/exercise. She seems to see weight loss or discussion as betrayal.

I guess we have all changed but yes, she was definitely having fun embracing her bisexuality, tattoos (remember ‘Live Fat Die Yum?!’) and being a laptop DJ in funky New Cross pubs. It’s so weird to see her transformation to a fairly homely, middle class (and middle-aged) woman with a husband who looks like a bald 50 year old.

They're a size 10. Tbh I didn't mind the ugly shoes in the early days of her blog because it felt relatable that a young woman couldn't afford to buy specialist shoes, but she clearly makes a decent amount of money now and I'd much rather see her spend a bit more on fewer pairs of shoes which don't automatically render every outfit she wears hideous. She spends SO much on (or more likely is GIVEN so much) clothing that I really feel non-minging shoes would be a decent investment.

I do enjoy some of her quirky taste but the whole thing of her "designing" collections is a bit 🙄🙄🙄

Also I don't understand why all her obsessive fangirls are reading her books when it's young adult fiction? Like, why are they all infantilising themselves to kiss her arse?

I agree. I liked her because she was proud to be who she was, which you can be without aggressively attacking and ghosting everyone who dares to say they’re not comfortable in their own body.

I was surprised she got married actually.

She says she deletes and unfollows because she loves herself too much to read weight loss content. I actually think it’s probably the opposite.

Being snobby and mean will only get you so far. I saw CharlotteBhc the other day slagging her off about getting book deals and only hanging out with other fat girls who also went to private school 👀
(They don’t follow eachother anymore)

I find all the bodypositive accounts coming out and raging about these government initiatives a bit defensive. A lot of them seem convinced that any form of dieting is VERY BAD, there's no grey areas, no room for people who are unhappy being overweight and all the health downsides that come with it, some even seem to say that the health downsides are because fat people are stressed, not that they are fat 🤔. I say this as a fat person myself.

Oh yes - that was an interesting tweet. CBHC is very amusing but also a car crash (she’s twice divorced, in the middle of a break-up having, constantly in hospital for something or other begging for attention). But that’s a whole other thread...

BR is definitely still a snobby private school mean girl, that is spot on.

I once went to some wanky hipster show my friend was in and her husband was doing some poetry tit...i have never cringed so much and he seems very strange! Very odd couple!
She just needs to mind her own bleeping business if people want to lose weight thats up to them, they shouldn't have to have people making opinions on their behalf!

I think if a close friend of mine had written a YA novel, I would buy and read it to support them but I genuinely cannot imagine buying and reading a YA novel just to get some kind of validation from the author on twitter.

I also saw the tweet from Charlotte BHC and thought that was aimed at Bethany! Obviously Bethany is in an extremely privileged position due to background and upbringing but I don't know enough about the publishing world to know if her success is due to that or if she is a genuinely great writer (or even just that there was a massive gap in the market for plus size YA fiction?).

Does anyone else listen to the What Page Are You On? podcast that she does? I really like Alice too and generally enjoy the podcast but I find Bethany's voice really distracting - it seems like such an affected way of speaking plus constant uptalk at the end of each sentence! Maybe I just don't hang out with enough privately educated people from the south east (!) but I've never heard anyone talk like that before and I find it really grating after a while!

She seems really happy with her husband, even if they are an unlikely pairing, no snark on that!

I’m so sad I missed this! I will need to go back and look. Charlotte has drama with everyone it seems. It must be exhausting to be constantly enraged about the most mundane tit.

Wow, wonder when they fell out. But then they do both seem to have beef with literally everyone who holds a slightly differing opinion to them so not surprising really..

Hi, can you please expand on this? Admittedly not really versed on her background.

Well, she’s from a very middle-class background and was privately educated in the very expensive SE town of Dulwich (I can’t recall if she went to Alleyn’s or JAGs, but either is at least £20k per year), so her parents are clearly not badly off. I think at least one of her parents works in media/film or similar creative industry.

She has also lived abroad (Canada I think?) and was always able to travel extensively, even before she went to uni, so much have had the means...

She and her husband have also recently bought a place in a relatively expensive hipster part of the UK (a town in SE London which I am v familiar with), so she’s clearly landed on her feet!

That said, her husband looks quite a bit older than her (and so I’d assume he either had a place of his own or a decent job) so they’ve probably been able to pool their resources to buy.
