What do you get in the paid book club that’s so different from the Facebook group? Or are you just paying for her extension?

I’m not sure. I pay for book club and then she cancelled one of the events because she’s on holiday and “got no WiFi” yet still posting to her Instagram stories etc. It kind of annoyed me. It’s very unprofessional. Makes me question what I’m paying for!

Yeah - it was a virtual event due to COVID. But still I don’t understand why she thought that was ok...

Basically! I pay the lowest subscription but need to cancel it. We get an email to our inbox once every 2 weeks or something and there are some virtual interviews with authors and stuff, but not sure if the free members get that too as they used to. Basically nothing extra that I scan see...

I also agree that it’s shocking that she cancelled an event to go on holiday. Imagine cancelling a meeting at work cos you fancied a holiday. It’s the same thing! This is her job and she has paying customers.

I’m sad that Helen has got involved in her book club as a paid member of staff as I like her, she seems genuine and nice and I think this will bring her down. Also, why could the event go ahead with Helen running it as she is a paid member of staff? Why does Beth need to be there, other than because she’s a control freak.

It is exactly the same thing as cancelling a meeting at work! I used to really like Beth but now I just think she’s a bit up her own a.

I assumed Helen would do the virtual event too... but apparently not. When I saw she had gone on holiday I half wondered what was happening to the event but I thought “surely she wouldn’t just cancel?” But yes, on the day of the event she cancelled!

She also doesn’t seem to be engaging with all authors, she picks more influencers for her book club and expects everyone to be okay with that, and the first question every time is how quickly did it take you to get into to book.... come on get a bit more creative

paying for her extension really. A newsletter every 2 weeks which is a load of rubbish usually got a recipe on which can be found on google. Can send you a copy of a newsletter if you want to give you an idea of what it is you get. And also a book swap which is basically a excel spreadsheet where you write what books you want or are selling and then pay £3 for one if you want to buy one

I’ll be intrested to see when she asks for feedback on the way it’s being run and what exclusive events they have planned near Christmas I would expect due to Covid

Don’t mind me just bumping the thread up to the top of the site so people can see she’s shacked up her history teacher 😂

Does she own this property? She seems to be doing well financially to be doing all this work to it

It’s been previously stated it belongs to her partner (the ex history teacher)

Did anyone else notice the worktops story today... Was it a subtle (or not so) beg for some new ones? Or am I a cynic?

I don’t understand how they’re not what she wants... my mum is getting her kitchen redone next week and she has picked everything out and had loads of samples of work tops etc

She’s insufferable. She sounds like someone mocking a posh accent 😂 like jack Whitehall in that e4 show

I’m from oxford and she deffo has jammed up her own accent even the kids that come from that sixth form she went too, they’re not like that, she’s kind of over exaggerating it 😂

There definitely seems to be a trend for this faux posh accent amongst influencers 😂
