Also Melo M who do a fantastic orchestra cover of The Final Countdown 😍

Worse

Sinead O'Connor - Nothing compares 2U
Nothing compares to the Prince and Rosie Gaines version

Take That (possibly the worse band name in the entire history of music)
Relight my fire

The White Stripes - Jolene
Miley did it better

Eric Clapton - I Shot the Sherrif

Beautiful South - Everybody's Talking

Best
Jimi Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower

Proud Mary - Ike and Tina

Joan Jett - I Love Rock n Roll

Heard 'Waterloo Sunset' on the radio the other day. Somehow I've lived my entire life without hearing the original in full so I listened, thinking, hmm the singer's pretty good. Turned out to be Def Leppard with the magnificent Joe Elliott.
I’ve never heard this version, but The Kinks are one of the greatest British bands ever - I can’t imagine anything being better than the original.

on the other hand, this is probably one of my favourite cover versions of all time. L.O.V.E. by Orange Juice (the original by Al Green is beautiful, but the Orange Juice version might top it for me)

One of my favourite covers:

Meanwhile there's loads of awful live lounge covers out there
There was that annoying time with the live lounge where literally everyone was doing that Gnarles Barkley song....badly

I had to check that The Saw Doctors weren't some sort of joke band. That's incredible.
They're an Irish band. They've been around for about 30 years. Think they've mostly disbanded these days though.
I have family and friends in Ireland so have heard them a fair bit over the years.
