Why do these influencers think tattle is some taboo website that needs exposing to the masses where nobody would dare say they post on there. In my office we will say ‘oh I saw x on tattle the other day’ in the exact same breezy way we would say we have seen something on the daily mail, itv news, instagram, twitter etc etc. Nobody bats an eyelid if someone mentions the source of what they are chatting away about is tattle and the pitchforks certainly don’t come out 🤷🏼‍♀️ In fact, none of us had some secret conversation to find out if we were all *gasp* tattlers because it’s simply a commonly known website
Ex actly this. At my husband last work place, Tattler was known as a great place to get gossip as the tea were HOT. My husband would jokes with his co-worker whenever I spend too much time on here.

*that I wouldn't say in person

I hate how the edit function disappears, as a chronic typo prone forum member!
I think GK brought up in the doc that you can see comments get edited because it says when they were last edited. Yeah GK, users get 20 minutes after posting to amend any typos. See above. That’s it. It’s not some great conspiracy. She also said that “weird ducklings” had been changed to “weird ducklings” in the Dickson thread but I can’t find evidence of either comment. She said it like some gotcha that Tattle changes things to hide something corrupt, but if anything it only further proves the point that this is a tightly moderated and censored space, and users are held to much higher standards than any other platform. Content that mods are made aware of that breeches those standards gets deleted or amended. Simple. Not anti free speech, anti dragging Tattle into the pits.

It’s so unfair how much bad press Tattle gets for a perhaps 0.001% (a made up statistic) of problematic comments that slip through the net, but they’re always taken out of context too.

thing is some of these media and news sites use tattle and other gossip/snark forums for sourcing gossip and news, they’d never admit it
“Sources say” on influencer daily fail articles usually just straight up translates as “I got this from Tattle”. Sometimes they don’t even bother changing the comment up a bit so when you google the quote directly tattle pops up! 😂

I'm sure the DM and others have their unpaid interns watching the live feed 24/7. 👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻

oh the latest and biggest source for media using tattle is zoe and alfie’s donkey sanctuary which got mentioned here for the first time on tattle (no direct address mentioned or details discussed) and within hours the mainstream media were running the story and now it seems the sun is in direct contact with a neighbour or have sent an unpaid intern to the village to scoop out the land 💀

I mean that doesn’t look like an unbiased expression! Get Louis Theroux to do a doc then I might watch it…
GK Barry is thick as pig tit, her idiocy seems the basis for her 'career'.

Exactly the sort of gullible idiot needed to front this nonsense.

For anyone having a bit of a nosey after that interview...
No one posts addresses
No one posts schools
This is probably the most heavily modded places on the Internet.
These clueless influencers typically hoist themselves by their own petards...they share photos of their kids with school badges visible, or make their own homes easily identifiable, especially when they also have their home address as the registered office of their business (there is absolutely no need to do this, anyone sensible and mindful of privacy would use their accountants address, but not this lot!).

For breaches of privacy, they all need to look a lot closer to home!

Having watched it, it's a really poor piece, and nowhere near the quality of investigate journalism it purports to be.
There's bias in every take, and to ag off Tattlers and accuse them of stalking and harassment, then hunt down someone's house by using a screenshot of a SM post, search the image on Rightmove and rock up to the house, gaining info from neighbours and then hunting down S's parents is hypocritical at best.
To also say that Tattle should be made to correct untrue content is an absolute piss take, Will the deceptive and dishonest influencers promoting crap for cash, often without following advertising standards, also be forced to only publish the absolute truth?
If so, I feel they'll have far more corrections and edits to make than anyone here.

Louis Theroux would never be interested because once you look into the details there isn't a story and influencers are lying.

Both the cases in this show had a lot happening that they ignored. Showed a few snippets out of thousands of posts not in context to tell the story they wanted to tell.

The BBC must have at least read the threads and knew the real story but don't care. This wasn't journalism or a documentary.

I found a random TikTok video saying tattle killed the child and every comment with more than a couple of likes was calling it out. Your random TikTok commenter is more informed than Labour MPs who took Dr Jess Taylors word o_O

Cat Deeley's mock horror 'and they're just allowed to lie?'. Er well yes it's called having an opinion. For instance if an influencer says they haven't had botox, and people here say 'Yes you have' - is that a lie? Or an opinion?
People here speculate on the information people choose to put on their SM.

I had never heard of her until last year - I think she was rumoured to have turned down Strictly. That's the height of my knowledge of her. I'm very much inclined to concur with your assessment of her based on the minute or so I watched of her interview on This Morning. I can't make myself watch the so-called documentary.

I agree about the motivation of targetting Tattle life, Id also add in that perhaps Tattle has been seen as a threat because of all the bot actions from places like Russia, so maybe some agencies have been curious about the motivation behind Tattle, and have allowed ''influencers'' to push to check out things like who actually ''owns'' tattle and what the motivation is behind it. If its just gossip for gossips sake...then its harmless, and will be left alone in future!

Re stealing grifter info, You do realise that this is already happening!!! ( I came here originally from Digital Spy to find out exactly what was going on re Philip Scofield.... the answer was ..... clear, but it was just nice to get behind all the deliberate obstruction and PR stuff. And gossip about behind the legal non disclosure stuff! ) I was also fed up with the deliberate shut down of any negative discussion of Harry and Meghan! Which also screamed some kind of PR intervention, which I thought was interesting!! If you go on threads now like the Harry and Meghan ones, there have to be established journalists and PR on there, partly because journalists lift stories from the thread, and partly because PR seems to respond to discussion points raised on the thread! A clear cross over between gossip and news!

Id also wonder if there is/was a link behind the Preston Davey stuff and the campaign just announced by Tony Hutchells mother, for some kind of public investigation? Its a horrific case, but they have only just been sentenced, the information has only just really been released in the press, and yet only a few days later a fully fledged, well supported campaign has been announced. Tattle had the ongoing trial reports, which were horrendous to read, but did kind of give a fairly clear picture about what was going on to a wider audience, so took a local case to national attention quickly.
Tabloids stealing stuff from threads has always happened here and on Mumsnet etc that’s not what I was talking about no need to shout

I was saying in a few years the documentaries or long-form articles like DEPHER on the BBC or The Salt Path series and podcast in The Observer will be getting rolled out about the likes of Dr Jess and other grifters like Jack Monroe

I think tattle following Preston Davey’s trial (as have other sites)has absolutely zero to do with Tony Hutchells mother’s campaign. Half the UK doesn’t know tattle exists and there are less than half a milllion users, maybe one or two million readers. More people read the Daily Mail than tattle.

Although her campaign timing may have been because of the attention in the national news that was given to the outcome of the trial of Preston’s killers, which was the right time to report it given the sensitivity.

I’m so bored of people saying “I saw nothing but concern for her” it’s so fake sounding and trying to make out like tattle is so perfect and caring, plus everyone just parrots it, it starts to sound culty. It started with the KP threads and it’s just lame.

It would be much better if people said something actually meaningful like “I can’t find any of these comments they are saying” or “I can’t find any comments that were mean about her” or “they aren’t criticising her they were worried she was on drugs or drink in a TikTok live“ that’s actually fact based

I agree with you but I did read all the pages of the SMD thread and there was 6 that went too far.

The average person that only read a few pages is unlikely to have come across those. They would be more accurate to say something like "I read 10 pages out of 500 and only saw people worried for the children". I've not read much of the KP thread but the few times I did it was a world apart from SMD.

No where is fact based these days. But TikTok comments are more fact based than the BBC doc!

My whole point being people should actually think about what is being alleged to have been said, then say they couldn’t find it (which is true) or actually point out specific worrying things mentioned (concern she was on a public TikTok live) so it’s not a meaningless standard phrase.

Changing the words slightly to “I only saw worry” totally misses the point. Saying “I saw nothing but concern” is literally what’s said every time. The same words, going back years. It started about the KP threads about her kids and it is a nothing burger because everyone parrots it, it makes everyone who says it sound like a cult member, and also a liar because as you point out there are the odd comment that’s a bit much.

TikTok is obviously not better at facts than the BBC I’m not sure what impossible level of perfection people want but the BBC will never please everyone where as TikTok on the whole is about as useful as some newspaper trodden in mud.

I can't speak for the KP thread but the comments I posted didn't say that.

The one at the top was "I believe there was a real concern for the children's welfare. Sophie her mother has a lot to answer for what she put those girls through trust me" which I think is accurate.

My friend is wanting to watch this “documentary” and I tried to tell him all about the BS that gets told in these hit pieces about Tattle and how Facebook , Daily Mail comment section is much worse than anything here. I’ll see what he says after he’s seen it even though I’ve told him as a Tattler myself that this site is nothing how these influencers paint it.
