I see Sara Cox has said that next week will be her last on teatime but still no replacement announced. Seems a bit last minute!

my guess is they want her on breakfast to tie in with the lineup announcement and ticket launch for radio 2 in the park

Not a fan of country but Bob is a legend and I'm saddened to hear of his decline. I wish him well.

How do I not know who Angela Scanlon is?

Very sad news that Bob has had to retire as would have liked him to have done a final show send off but his health is far more important.

I'm now thinking that whoever is taking over the drive time show is someone external which is why it's not been announced as sure if internal it would have been done by now. Do we know of any DJs who have recently left their current show?

I only know her from strictly, I have never seen her in anything else

I'm so disappointed that Sounds of the 80s is taking the 6-8 slot, I do like 80s music but I'm still stick of Gary Davies even now I've tuned back into Greg in the AM, and I loved Liza's show and was just starting to really enjoy Shaun in that slot!

Poor Gary. I am weary of him too at this point. It’s a bit like in the late 90s and Carol Smilie was everywhere and the people got sick looking at her and she had to disappear into obscurity.

I have pondered on the Angela Scanlon stuff for a bit. I think for me she needs someone to bounce off, a two hander. When she’s on her own she just feels like she talks way too much in a nervous kinda way. Rambly.

I like Sounds of the 80s too, but it's a pity it's taking the 6pm Saturday slot. Liza's programme (Shaun now) always served up something different: things that were familiar, quirky or new. Always something to discover. Everything feels much more tightly curated on R2 now.

BBC have always done this and it’s so irritating. They discover that someone is even slightly popular and then suddenly they’re everywhere until viewers / listeners are sick to death of them. I’m guessing that someone high up believes that Angela Scanlon has gone down well so she’s next on the list 🤢

I’m not a big 70s fan but I hope that having a theme might help Shaun’s presenting style. I tried to listen to him after Liza left but he was just mumbling into the microphone the whole time, I found him unbearable.

I thought that initially, but he grew on me and I’ll miss him on a Saturday afternoon now.

He's not on tonight. I quite like his R5 show, but I wonder what's going to happen with him hosting that.

I remember him being on an utterly bonkers documentary years ago about the Sunday Sport.
