If BBC are going to play live performances the least they could do is make sure the singer can actually sing the song 😅 I'm not drunk or high at some festival, I don't want to listen to someone struggling to sing

ooh who 👀

I've got to say Vernon is really doing a good job on his radio 2 show. I like the way he interviews Paul McCartney and I love the little "archive" bits he does. Trevor in the afternoon continues to play banging tunes and I enjoy his slot.

I wasn't sure about Vernon but he is coming into his own IMO.

I love Vernons show. The archives are so funny when he can’t speak for laughing! And I agree he is very good at interviewing

I like Ellie Taylor on tv but I can’t stand her on the radio, something about her manner really winds me up.

Nat and Vicky had a text earlier from someone saying they had a ten hour shift to get through, they said they could relate and the only way to get through is put on a really great playlist. Then realised they were on the radio and added of course Radio 1 have the best playlist so you can just listen to us all day

God, Angela Scanlon in for Sara Cox. Please don’t let it become permanent

Any time she pops up on something, it's a no from me.
The BBC are putting her everywhere just now. They're trying her out to see what she's suitable for, then she'll land a coveted big contract.

Also, R2 is becoming a smug parenting borefest.
Like an endless podcast of celebrity presenters all bragging about their own lives and how much they love their radio colleagues.
bleeping nauseating.

Please god not Angela. I hope this isn’t a soft launch. I don’t mind her on tv now and then but I can’t listen to her on the radio. I don’t know what the difference is in my brain.

I liked her on Your Home Made Perfect but since teaming up with Vicky Patto for a podcast I have gone completely off her! Let’s hope Wor Vic doesn’t end up on Radio 2

I don't mind Angela and thought she was ok on the bit I caught yesterday afternoon. My problem is all the new additions to the schedule are just TV presenters or comedians who have been given slots, unlike the OGs like Terry Wogan, Chris Evans etc who started their careers on radio. Does no-one do that anymore?

I listened to Ken Bruce Popmaster on way back from gym earlier on Greatest Hits, such a loss to R2. Is Sara starting on the 13th?

Bob Harris is retiring due to ill health. He has cancer and has been undergoing radiotherapy. Wishing him all the best, his voice is just unique and made for radio. I don't even particularly like country music but always tuned in to listen as he was the consummate radio presenter!

Yesterday on Radio 4, there was a discussion on philosophy, with Kathleen Stock, a French philosopher (I didn’t catch her name) and the presenter. They began discussing some of the differences between French and British philosophy, as well as how the different cultures treat this subject. The programme lasted about ten minutes and then it was over; the presenter even made a comment about how philosophy isn’t respected in the UK. I listen to World Service and Radio 4, which is usually an overwhelming barrage of the horrors happening in the world. I wish that the news was interspersed with more in-depth programmes, covering various subjects like philosophy and cultural studies.

I am so sad about Bob. I had never really listened to him properly until he took over Sound of the 70s. I loved the vibe he brought to the show, and his banter with his producers.

I like Shaun, he is very knowledgeable, but sometimes he can sound a bit downbeat. He has been warming up over last few weeks though.

I think it is a great change to put Sound of the 80s at 6pm Saturday.

Yeah, sad to hear that he's having to retire. Hes very well respected in Country Music circles, even in the US.
